Title: THERE'S A KLICKY IN THERE!
Post by: Richard on February 06, 2010, 02:52:56

When I first saw those two weird looking "robots" by the temple in Playmobil's new Jungle Theme, I didn't realize that there were klickys inside.

Am I the only one who couldn't see beyond those strange looking creatures? ...  8}

Hi Richard

The arms look like they have snap on covers & so does the head/torso dress but what is it with the legs? are they really newly molded feet just for these 3 Klickies? I still would like to know what they are supposed to be ?

Ras ...

If you look really close at where the "knees" should be, it looks like there's room for the klicky's feet. So, he must be on stilts! I think that they are the Temple guards. (At least that's what Playmobil is calling them ... "Templewächter") ...  ::)

They maybe designed simular to the 4479 deep divers suit!

What did they do to the deep sea diver's suit, Bill?

The deep divers suit is actually a shell as shown in the pictures with attachments such as the clear helmet shield, arm covers, claw attachments, etc, & room for a Klicky inside.

Yup...looks like there is a full size regulation Klicky in there. :lens:

At first I thought that the figure was a made on purpose rock looking thingie.

Looks like the Klicky can quit his rock dude job and get a good job, like flying
a triplane, or sailing a boat

I was really surprised when I saw the klicky in the bigger picture ...  :o

Thanks for the "exploded" picture of the diver's suit, Bill ...

I'm wondering if it's a complete shell, like the diver, or just a "front" since their backs are sorta in the walls of the temple?

I'm afraid I'm going to have to buy this set ... If for nothing more than to keep my old "Jungle Ruins" company ... ;)

Thanks again for the picture, Bill, and all the best,
Richard

I thought that I'd add a picture of the new Jungle set for comparison.
(Looks like they'll go well together.)

From the 4848r picture I'd assume that the legs are a clip on section of stilits, and the klickies feet are comcealed in the knees.

Like you guys, I at first assumed the temple guardians were discrete figures, but it makes for better play value if there's a normal klicky inside. An adventurer could be captured, transformed into a guardian and subsequently rescued, for example.

Like the knights who have removable armor, I always think more pieces are better because then you can act out dressing for combat. The one piece arms may be more practical for some activities, but they do reduce play value in other ways.

Martin, is this a plot for a new story from you and Tim (Tiermann)?

I can almost see the two of you creating a fantastic jungle surrounding the old Aztec/Mayan/Inca ruins ... Hopefully, we'll all get to see your next Ancient (or 16th century) Mexican or Central/South American jungle story soon. Or, maybe a modern "Indiana Jones" jungle story?

All the best,
Richard

Thanks for the pictures, Michael! ...

This klicky has a "two-sided" head?

"Normal" on one side and "green" on the other?

Michael, there seems to be a seam on the side of the legs. Is it possible to separate the legs at the seam? If so, what's inside? And, why did Geobra provide space (at the knees) for a "normal" klicky's feet?

Many, many questions ... ???

I'm pretty sure we'll both by buying this set when it's available, but we haven't discussed any story plans yet. I'm now working part-time at Wal*Mart so my free time is limited and at odd hours, and Tim has weekend plans booked for a while too. We got another Pirates episode photographed but I'm still post-editing. Another wonderful scene designed by Tim which I think everyone will enjoy.

Apart from my job, I have our shipping arriving soon to deal with, and we're moving into our new house around 15th April, so photography and photo stories are limited until I have my palatial Playmo-den-studio to play in. I plan to fit a 6' x 18' or 6' x 16' tabletop on trestle tables into the space, and have semi-permanent sets and displays on it.

Hi Mac Gayver

I am not disappointed at all, since that is what I thought anyways. I like these sets and will be getting all of them. This Klicky mutant looks weird but I am sure the kids will find many uses for him. The pictures you provided sure does reveal all his strangeness's.

I like all the sets that come with this theme but still have to see about that buggy with the view finder on the front. I do wish playmobil would have made the creatures a bit more to scale but perhaps they were going for something different, like some haz-mat crew dumped some barrel out in the forest and some mutant rock creatures and extra-large reptiles & arachnids grew from it.

April 15 will be here before you know it. (I guess that you already know that April 15 is also IRS tax day) ... :(

Hi Richard

Where do you see this ? I see in Michaels pictures a blue head on one and a normal flesh color on the other figure.

Hey, Ras ...

First of all I'm blue/green color blind, so that mystery is easily solved ...

Second, there are two different klicky Temple Guards. The one that I originally attached and the one that Michael attached. Unless, I'm mistaken (and, I have been known to be "mistaken" from time to time ...  ;D ), Michael's attachments seem to be ALL of the other klicky.

Yes I too would like to see what is inside of those legs? I wonder if they are shells snapped on or if there really are new molds done in 1/2's with no legs inside, but then like you spotted what is it with the large knees ? Somebody get a screwdriver and end this . It is beginning to feel like a group of Greeks talking about the horses mouth  ::)

Those temple guardians look really awesome! It's a bit disappointing that the legs don't attach to other klickys, but they look really detailed! They look as though they are based on Golems...

Sadly Wal*Mart have dropped Playmobil from their toylines, at least for the time being. When I've settled in more I may ask why and find out at what level this decision is made, but I suspect even the top man at our store doesn't decide what lines we carry.

I will get an employee discount card after three months, 10% off most stuff (excluding food I think) which will be very handy for furnishing the new home.

Sorry to read that, Martin ...  :(

However, our excitement here in the Virgin Islands was rather short-lived when we saw the prices that KMart wants to charge for Playmobil. (KMart has just recently become the first store to carry Playmobil in the Virgin Islands.)

Hi

That is one reason I do not buy from Kmart. Their prices were even higher than TRU which was higher than the independent local stores prices. Target has them all beat. But in your predicament Richard I would buy it from whomever had it.

I love Target! Just wish that they carried ALL the Playmobil (or at least as much as they do Lego).

And, regarding KMart ... rather than having to pay twice as much for my Playmobil, I think that I have enough patience to wait for my next trip to the mainland!

So here's to KMart's toy department ...  :P ...  :hehe:
