Hi guys! Would someone be so kind to post a couple of pics of a 100% complete 3055 / 3740 schooner??
The playmodb inventory does not have quantities and I need that, in adition to know what elements the schooner brings.
Another question.
It seems that both versions are a little different. So far I saw that they have different kind of cannons. I guess this is because USA have a different policy for the firing cannons. Is that so?
it seems the ship brigns only two sailors but there are 3 in the box cover photo? is it 2 then?
The sailors hats macth the color of the body or are they black? I've seen both.
Im getting a used one and it is not 100% complete so I need to know what's missing. The seller doesn't know. because of the cannons I guess it is the 3740.
Thank all who can help!
Gaston

Here are a few pics of my schooner...
It has one captain, one passenger, two sailors whose hats are black and have bare feet...
two canons, and you are right the difference is due to the non-shooting US canons, a black dog, the flag, tha black trunk with the flur-de-lis on it.... these are the most impotrant pieces...
additional: two canon ball holders, two cannon rammers, a lantern, rifle, pistol, sword, megaphone, sextant, axe, shovel, boathook, oh and the passangers hat need to have a white rim... and the captain's hat a white feather which is fluffy like...
I think thats all...
-
wow Panos! thanx a lot! you ARE like Batman!  always to the rescue!
some more questions... does the passenger have cuffs? the passenger's hat is black or dark blue?
thanx A LOT again!
btw, i got you r message, I don't rmemeber if I answered it, anyway thank you for taht too!
-
Oh! I always thought there were three barefooted sailors, not two.
My set had two with blonde hair and one with red hair.
The pics on this page show a new set where the figures are still in their bag and there's definitely three sailors there. ???

wow you are right! maybe that's another difference between 3055 and 3740??
-
You're right Sylvia! I forgot I have the third sailor here in the box of bagged klickies. that schooner is still at my parent's place and i based my verdict in the pictures. Irecall now that three sailors for this ship looked too many. so i just left two of them on it...
Gaston, the passanger's hat is dark blue!
-
I may be have some scans of the original instruction manual would like to post them to you.I 'll check as fast as i get back home.

Thanks a lot Grangel! That would be great.
Thanks Panos, does he wear cuffs?

Another thing..... is the hull white, light grey or light creme? It looks differents in the many pics I have seen. :(
another q, sorry :)
Is there a pistol also? just one?
how many of the little black flags?
:)
-

the hull means the boat right? it should be white ,now with time many are discoloured that's why you see them in light cream ,although i have a new one the us version (3055) which is light grey... :-\ i don't know wy perhaps being so many yaers on the box ...i don't know perhaps the us version ships are more light grey than white originally it should be white though ;) i remember my childhood 3740 how white it used to be i see it in old pictures also now it's a bit yellow suddently :'( :'(
-
Thanks Panos, does he wear cuffs?
Nope, no cuffs for the passenger. Although he could be an officer... hmmm...

Yeap the hull is originally white, but as Alex says, it can get yellow with the passing of time!
The pistols were usually six in these old sets, if I recall correctly... and two or four rifles... don't forget the telescope!
The signal flags are two, each side a different sticker!
-
thnax again Panos!
-
Oh and the foresails are two!
-
I suppose the foresails.... are those triangular ones in the front?
yep, there are 2. Thanx!

Off topic - that is definetly a ship they need to bring back via DS . The molds are still available, PCC make it happen. ;D
-
That schooner is one of the nicest (if not THE nicest) that Geobra has to offer.
You got it mint, Gaston?
-

Nope, not mint.
I haven't gotten it yet actually. My seller here in B.A. has it for me and she is trying to complete it cause is missing some parts, that's why I need to know all this. I don't care much about Mint items, but I DO care about completness. ;D
-
I think the old instructions did not list the quantity of each item... :-\
-
It's finally home!!!
I love it and it is on the process of washing and changing ropes etc....
But this is what puzzles me
http://playmodb.org/cgi-bin/showpart.pl?partnum=30-60-1400
I have only the lader that hungs outside the ship- Where does the other go? there really should be 2? if so.... could someone share a pic?
Thanx in advance!
-
That part number covers both ladders and is used with other pirate ships which have a raised poop deck and the other ladder is used to access the poop deck from the main deck and isn't needed with the schooner and other small pirate type ships.
-
It's finally home!!!
congratulations Gaston in aquiring what is in fact the most beautiful playmobil ship ever made!!!
As for you question, Gordon has the answer!
-

oooh, yes I know what you mean. Perfect thanks a lot Gordon!
Thank you too Panos, now to look for missing parts! :sherlock:
-
what is it missing?
-
Nope, no cuffs for the passenger. Although he could be an officer... hmmm...
It is my understanding that he is a naval press gang officer. At least that is exactly what he looks like. :)
-
what is it missing?
well... it's missing the passenger's sideburns, blue top hat and ribbon, the captain golden sword, the crew hat's ribbons, the golden telescope (or whatever the name is ) and I think a wooden bucket and a barrel (if the set come with those....Im not sure) Panos you have them in the pics you sent to me but I didn't see them in playmodb inventory :eh?:
Another puzzling thing is that it has 2 sailors... we have discussed this several times. So to be sure.... original german version has 3 and US later version has 2?
-
you miss quite a lot of bits and bobs.. yes you're right... no barell or bucket in playmodb... but I am sure it had one of each... I still am not sure if the ''passanger'' or ''officer'' had a ribbon on hit hat... but I know for sure those ribbons on the sailor hats is very difficult to come by... I am certain I had a third sailor here somewhere... i think its the only klick whose whereabouts are unknown to me :o
-
(http://i1205.photobucket.com/albums/bb432/tonguello/DSCF2812.jpg)
Here is a quick pic.
Yep all missing parts are small and some hard to find but anyway... I'll do what I can.... and I have my airbrush ready ;). One of the ribbons is yellow ::) the other one is white.... but they must be grey, right? The white one looks ok to me.
-
there should definitely be a ribbon on the passenger/officer hat... and the hat should be navy blue... a curious thing though is that the hat ribbon is not exactly the same.. the sailor ribbon is 30 06 600 and is a very light grey... the passenger/officer ribbon is just ever so slightly more blueish than grey and is number 30 06 599 ... this is from the 3055 version (3 sailors, 5 klickies total) but we got ours in the USA so... ???
I know that ours came with both a barrel and a bucket... and also a grain sack. I don't know if they were just throwing extra stuff in there or if it just got left off the instructions... also it had 5 of the 30 06 607 guns, 4 of the 30 03 089's and one of the long barreled pistols as well. But just one. 2 cannons, 2 stuffers, 2 racks, about 40 cannon balls... 2 sets of the 30 60 891 gear (shovel axe and pole). Again ours might be an anomaly but I only have one to check :) ... so far....
JUST NOTICED: the captains feather isn't the right one in those pics either it should be the taller puffy one... the 30 06 396

thanks a lot for the info! yes you are right about the feather.... I forgot to put that.
so did the US version had 2 sailors? or also 3? :-\

Mine has 3... 2 blonde and one redhead... but even though we got it at our local shop in PA back then, it was the 3055 which i guess people are saying is the german one ? just remembered too ... ours came not just with that gold cone thingy but the whole un-popped tray of the classic pirate equipment so... the cone, the scope, the ladle etc. the instructions from back then are SO unhelpful... :) I know there is a picture somewhere of us opening it and putting it together... which would have all the actual contents in it... though the memory is pretty good without that so far. I think that picture is in mom's picture book though... (it was a birthday... hence the pictures but they have come in handy before)

I'll look out for your PM.

I'm almost 100% sure the only difference between the 3740 and 3055 (US) were the non-shooting gunbarrels in the 3055.
Oh, and the "passenger" indeed is no passenger but an officer.
-
Gaston, plans on their way to you now.
Here are some photos of the rigging.
-
That's great Gordon! Thank you so much! ;D
I'l check tonight when I get home if I did it all right,. ;D
-
And more:
-
oh this last pic puzzles me... I've never thought the strings went like that :P so thanks!

Excellent!!! :yippee: Thank you!
-
ok all done!
I think you got them right Gordon, but I don't agree with PM instructions :P
I know nothing almost nothing about sailing but some of the rigging (?) make no sense to me. Most of all the back sail.
So made my own version based on the fishing boat which I think is the one that better shows how it should be.
I'll try open a topic about it.
Thanks!
-
Actually Gaston, Gordon's pic is exactly how it should be done. you see this way, sail movement is restricted this way, as wind coming from the back and sides of the ship can have bat concequences on the sail and rigging if its not done this way ;)
the hook is called gaff in nautical terminology: http://www.thefreedictionary.com/gaff

you mean the way the rope goes around the top of the mast to the dobble hook in the sail? that could be ok, I don't really know.
But I was meaning the lower rigging in the sail. (there's no pic of that) You are the expert Panos but to me (IMHO) this sail must take the lateral wind and transform it into a forward force so it MUST be able to move from side to side depending on which direction the wind is coming, right?. Like any vessel, right? so if we do it like the PM instructions suggests we get the sail fixed in the middle of the ship with no posibility of movement. Unless Im absolutly wrong about the porpouse of that sail. :P :P :P
The opposite happens in the pirate ship 3940. That end of the sail is absolutly loose (this must be only for play benefit) but in real life that thing moving free from side to side of the ship can be really dangerous for men and ship.
-
Oh OK I see what you mean... have a look at my attached pics. the sail is not fixed, as in standing motionless at its place. As you see, at the end of the lover rigging allows the sail to shift from left to right, like in every real life ship and sail, to allow maneuverability. You can adjust the rope, make it longer or shorter, to make make the sail more or less movable ;)

that's exactly what I meant... but I still don't see how it works if the ropes are tied to the back of the hull 8} 8} 8}
sorry we are going off topic....let's go private and then post the result for those interested ;)

It's a single rope (or sheet in nautical terms) tied at each end to the stern and runs through a pulley (or block) on the boom, the three points (the fixings to the stern and the position of the block) forming a triangle. As the wind veers, the stern sail and boom swing from side to side with the rope running through the pulley. The looser the ropes, the more the boom can swing; the tighter the ropes, the less the boom can swing. In real life, the tightness of the ropes would be adjusted by a member of the crew to take account of the strength of the wind.
Try it by pushing the end of the boom from side to side with the rope fastened to the stern to form a triangle.
Here are two pictures of the layout in real life which is slightly more complicated than in Playmobil but the principle is the same.

I may be able to help you with a few bits Gaston, I think I have the sideburns for the passenger and a spare sailor (not sure about his hat though) plus buckets and barrels galore. All my 'Pirate' Playmo is still at the hall but it should be back by weekend and I can check then.

Besides catching wind for additional forwards thrust, this sail/boom is mainly used to tack the ship ("overstag gaan" or "bij de wind draaien" in Dutch); by changing the side (starboard/port) the boom & sail are directed to, the ship turns around.

I've found the sideburns and my sailors (but sadly no spare hats) - did you want a sailor with ginger or blonde hair and I've a spare bucket, grain sack, barrel and golden megaphone if you want them. Is anything else missing?
