Kingdoms Map: Trading and sociopolitical interaction

* Gis whispers to WoT...C6

Ha ha, I knew that... :-[ :P

I would also like to take this opportunity to talk to you all about "trade routes."
As you can see, on the map here I have a few dotted lines running to and from my Kingdom.
These are trade routes I have established with another PlaymoFriend.

I just PMed them, and we worked out negotiations.
my PMs to them look something like this:

Hello,
I believe it would be in both our interests
to establish trade connections between our two countries.
I would establish a market in your country, and you might establish one in mine.

Those who agreed now have a market in my country, and I in theirs.
What does this have to do with the map?
You would show your trade connections on the map,
by drawing a small dot (in your countries color) on each others boarder.
And then draw a small dotted line, back to your own country,
representing the route the merchant ships would take.

All you would have to do, is work out the details for yourselves,
then PM me, and tell me what you two have arranged, and I will draw it on the map.

Also, there are other negotiations you can arrange.
If you look, you can see that Grangel and I have arranged to build a canal
running through his territory to connect the sea to the ocean.
It is as of now in progress... ;)

If you and another PlaymoFriend arrange something else besides trade routes,
run it through me and we will see what we can do.
I hope to see lots of dotted lines soon. ;D

I believe I should also point out (just in case there is any confusion...)
That trade routes don't mean you actually have to,
or have traded with the PlaymoFriend in real life.
They are just for fun, no real life stuff involved.

The map is coming along GREAT, but we have to do something about colors - it's getting too hard to distinguish the small dots along the country's "owner"  :lens:.
Can't the owner's name (or shield or coat of arms) be inserted over his territory? It would make things a lot easier to see where is everybody on the map.

I have asked if people would like to make their own coat of arms...
No one has answered yet.
Perhaps you could lead? ;)

but what is the brown? Roads?

Yes roads, big and small which connecting the towns and villages.
The big red squares are military camps and the small (3) are outposts, in the centre is the capital with a purple kings castle!!!

Inside the harbor in the south town.

And my coat of arms is the black eagle with the yellow background. See my avatar.

Everyone should keep in mind the scale of this. If you look at google maps and zoom out to a specific area (California or Spain 400sq miles) you will see that a city consisting of hundreds of thousands of people is just a dot. The castles and roads depicted so far are many miles in width. Maybe each territory could be a link that we could click on to go to a specific zoomed in scale for people interested in showing such details

Then like in real maps everyone will follow specific scale guides

PS is the two headed eagle taken, if not that is the one I want, from set 7377

If you hear the sound of the bell which will tell you that Grigori has been killed, if it was your relations who have wrought my death, then no one in the family will remain alive. They will be killed by the Russian people. :prays:

Umm... I have no idea how to do that...
Or anything even close to that. :o

Though I agree, it would be cool. :eh?:

I ask that you guys create your own heraldry,
that way everyone can have a different one,
and there isn't any fighting over a specific one. :)

Here, this will help you create your own Heraldry:
http://www.yourchildlearns.com/heraldrygame/
It really is fun to play,
and you learn a lot about the way heraldry was back then.
