Well I did not find a review in a search so I though I would do one for a set that has been out for a while. I have not written a review for a while so I felt like sharing what I observed with this set.

When this first set was spotted we immediately noticed differences. It was not until a member, whom I can not name, spotted the familiarity with the shape of the box to the American fire truck box. This is when I was sure it was a Chinese made playmobil. Now for some reason the factories over there find it necessary to tie the objects to the box. Geobra has tied bundles of building parts together but they do not ever find it necessary to secure the entire vehicle to its packaging. Other parts are in two bags.

A second difference is the Chinese factories screw toys together. The German vehicles have tabs that lock in. I think only some boats are screwed together. I really think Geobra has set up the manufacturing so that the conventional mold machines that China has are used. I kept reading that Geobra has some highly sophisticated molding machines and they do not want it copied.

You get two worker and a pile of garbage intended at being metal that is for recycling. The can lock's into the tap by first lining it up with the upper portion of the slot that is larger. When you slide the can down into the narrower portion of the slot the can is locked in. Then the lever is used to lift the can to dump the precious metal. The back of the truck opens but there is no dumping of the entire truck, remember its all screwed.

Here is the truck getting ready for action and how the Klickes access the cab interior. All sticker came pre-applied. This and the Chinese school bus are two that I will keep. The fire truck I did not accept into the collection.

Thanks for the review on this set, Ras. This truck looks much better than the China made fire truck for sure. I'm going to look into getting this one & several school buses.
-
Nice review, Ras. We have both this and the schoolbus, and are quite pleased with them. Much better than the chinese fire truck!!!
-
Great review, Ras! I already have a Recycling truck, so I'm in no hurry to get this set. I would, though like to get the school bus. :)
-
Thanks for the great review Ras!!!

Excellent review, Ras. It doesn't look too bad at all as a vehicle.
The differences you highlight in packing and construction are interesting. Securing the vehicle in the box addresses the issue of parts rubbing together and getting marked which has sometimes been noted where everything is loose. The fact that the vehicle is held together by screws makes custom work easier; I find with the system it is very secure and you need three hands each with 10 fingers to get vehicles apart.

Thanks for this review and the pics

Thanks for the review! I really like these american vehicles "noses"...
And that's is one STRONG klicky! ;)
-
Now I am almost waiting for a trickshot where it looks like the clicky lifts the entire garbage truck above his head. ;)
-
Thanks for sharing. Are the tires the same as the fire truck?

I got rid of the firetruck the same day so I do not have it to compare. The garbage truck tires are squishy rubber, very similar to Geobra's.

Working men usually are ;) at least the ones who are working

No, they're not the same as the firetruck. The fire truck has icky hard plastic tires. Like Ras said, the garbage truck (and also the school bus and ambulance) have regular rubber tires.

Ugh. Just the thought of purchasing let alone setting up that set makes me sick! (http://serve.mysmiley.net/sick/sick0005.gif) (http://www.celebrityfashionarchive.com)

So the Chinese manufacturer is actually more careful and cares whether or not your toy gets damaged while being shipped. Unlike Geobra, it seems at times.

I always thought that they tied everything into the packages so that the the weird people who shop major China distribution warehouse stores (AKA Walmart) will not steal everything, like the old saying "you have to bolt everything down". ;)
-
Thanks for the review Ras and for pointing out the differences to be found with Chinese manufacture. I agree that securing parts is a great idea, pity Geobra wouldnt take note and do the same with the original stuff.

Ras: Great review! And pics!
They should put the Klicky holding the truck up in his own Diet Coke ad so we ladies can oogle his muscles!
Will need a bare torso much more ripped than speedodad's! Maybe Cheng can add some muscle to his favorite Klicky! It definitely is time for Klicky guys (who don't do manual work) to build some paver walls in their gardens or head to the Gym and bulk up a bit! Pgal

My avatar says he doesn't get paid enough to be a spokesperson for Diet Coke, but Miller Light now that's a different story :**:! He says he doesn't have a six pack, he's got a keg!
-
BB: Hehehehe! Like your keg avatar! Miller Lite ad it will be then, Pgal

Hey that's my line!!!
-
Yeah, I did actually, a long time ago! But I guess great minds think alike. ;D
-
Mm, not really.
But back to the topic... :-[ I liked your assessment of why they are secured to their packaging, Ras! Anything that's not bolted down!
-
I purchased this the other day but out of interest, does anyone know what the metal junk parts are meant to be because I dont have a clue apart from maybe the cans, I did at first think one was a tube of paste but as meant to be metal I now dont know.
-
sardine tins perhaps ???
I want to get one of these sets and order some of these cans etc from DS plus somemore wheelie bins. As a big fan of recycling this set is in alignment with my ' green beliefs' ( thrown out of the window when i drive me car but thats another story )
lovely set actually, thanks for the review :) :) :)
