6491 Roman Tribune & his brothers

I'm happy the Romans are back but disappointed at the repetition in the new sets. The original Roman theme was to my mind very coherent, the new one more chaotic and random, with less originality for the most part.

Case in point: 6491 Roman Tribune.

Not bad overall, a new officer, which is nice. The yellow crest had only appeared in 4278 catapult before. The shield and long spear aren't right for a Roman officer, but make him look like a hoplite, which is okay I guess.

His body though is very similar to the Roman from Fi?ures Series 4:

Left to right: Fi?ures Roman, 6491, 5817, 4270.

6491's legs, torso and belt are the same as Fi?ure's. Arms are different. 6491 has the scowling head of 5817.

I've been able to find all other officers a place in my legion, but I don't think I can work this guy in. He's not distinct enough.

Oh well!

At least you can give the shield to a standard bearer who seemed to have used smaller round shields.

Yeah, I can't believe they gave the new standard bearers scuta. And so many standard bearers! They're all over the place! A plague of signifers!
