Title: Easter Eggs Overview
Post by: Little Jo on January 12, 2006, 19:10:32
Does anybody know an overview about all the easter eggs sets available? I've recently won two from 2005 on eBay and know I'm wondering what has been there already in the past. Is there a site somewhere (on somebody's homepage) where I can have a look to all eggs? (The Playmobil Collector list just a few and for some quartets it's not clear in which year they have been released, e.g. 3975, 4911, and 3078 -- and there are also just only the eggs itself depicted with the small pictorgram of the content but not the real/full content).

Any help/hint appreciated.

You can see some of the older egg sets and their content at Playkingdoms (http://www.playkingdoms.com/pk/library/eggs/eggs.asp).

And if you look in the Easter section of the collectobil catalogue, you'll find the 2002 (http://www.collectobil.com/catalogue/items/3971.htm) set.

I haven't yet found a website that has ALL the egg sets shown together, but perhaps there is one that another member knows of.  :-\

Seems like this might be a project for you to tackle once you have collected them all, Jochen. ;)

Thanks Sylvia for the links. So now I know at least that this series has been started from 1997.

Oh my god: 9 years, with each 4 eggs plus the big one  :eh?: ... I even should not think about start collecting them  (particularly as they are not available in Germany ... this would become expensive  :-\).

Uh, displaying and presenting them here is really the easier part, but finding (and especially purchasing) them all ...

Only reason for me to get the 2005 red one (4916) was because of the brown, old-styled dog which I hadn't so far in my animal collection; and the green 2005 one was because I've looking quite a while for this/a/the female pet doctor (once in the Special edition but the egg is also fine)

I'm not absolutely sure that there was a different set released every year. Or maybe that's just the impression I got because they were so hard to get in the UK. :(

You're right... trying to get all of them now would pose a real challenge for any collector! (That's why I passed on the task. ;)) Some of the rarer ones reach very high prices at auction these days.

Yes, some of the most expensive Playmobil are the eggs.

Side note to Jochen - while the brown dog is old style it is clearly a brand new mold rather than a reuse of the old mold. Photos can be seen you know where  ;)

Ups, didn't noticed this so far (just received it by yesterday evening and hadn't time to look closely to this  :))
So I should take a look at the "I know where place"  ;D

WHEN I get the eggs set up, I can take a photo

There was a time when Eggs were released in Germany, and it took a year before the came to the US, or so I believe.
But of late, new eggs are released in France, Spain, and the US.  This year Britian got the 2004 eggs, or so I believe.

Spanish eggs are more of a surprise.. you can't dictate a color to what is inside.  There are numerous figures that were released..

Well I dont have the 2006 eggs
I dont think they have been released yet.
This years eggs are more of a disappointment than other years because everything is recycled

:o Wow.

I will keep you thinking about how large the collection really is  :P

The Spanish eggs are hard to find these days, and the rare figures that Tahra found are very rare.
(I am thinking of the Egyptian, here.  The female astronaut was made by Spain for the TelePizza chain)

I have 9 Spanish eggs, but I would not even think I have most of the figures that were released with them.
Some speculated that it was a way for the Spanish factory to clean out their shelves.

The Spanish eggs all have the same  "Huevos Sopreso". They come in a lot of colors.  I actually have one that is a gold color.

You can go on collectobil and find a picture of how they were sold is sets of 1 dozen (12 eggs)

 I know,

I did bid on one once that turned up here in the UK, I wasn't going to be in when the auction ended so I thought I had put enough money on it. I was outbid by a pirate collector in Portugal, who later decided too sell his pirate theme for some reason. I saw the egg on ebay again with others But didn't want to get into a bidding war with a collector from the US.  ;)

Hey,
I NEEDED that egg!

Believe me, Jochen... you really don't want to try collecting ALL of the Spanish eggs! 8}

I think their contents are as hard (or maybe harder) to catalogue than keychains. Many of them seem to be made of weird left over parts (probably excess factory stock), some of which don't even look like they belong together... although I have to admit, every once in a while there is a real treasure to be found amongst them... like an unseen before female astronaut (http://www.playkingdoms.com/pk/library/eggs/eggspirate3.asp), for example. You might have to buy several hundred eggs before you find one though. ;)

As hoppatussa and Meg already noted, the real trouble is if you buy these eggs sealed, you have no way of knowing exactly what is inside, and the colour of the shell does not give much clue... hence the name "Sorpresa". ;D

Also I think they've stopped producing these eggs now, so it's probably more difficult to get them in mint condition at a reasonable price these days.

Thanks for posting your detailed list, Meg (and also Socrates, for the additional info on the 2006 range). I'm sure this will be very useful to all the Playmobil Egg collectors on the forum. :)9

Oh, I'm already sure, that I even do not want to collect all the other eggs  ;D
Although this would be a really nice task, and the result will be worth to be displayed, but for sure this project would be tightly coupled with spending a lot of money on eBay and somewhere else.  I made this experience already in the past trying to collect all the available Danger Girl comics (including all the special editions) on the market: some are quite easy and cheap to get, but others -- and those are these, which would complete the collection -- are quite difficult to get a hand on; and if they should be avialable on eBay once, the prices are quite high (over 100 Euros for a single one). So this task might only be become frustrating to me, not willing and even not being able to spend that much money on a single item  ;)
