Title: Hogwarts and our Harry Potter world
Post by: Luftgaengerin on August 10, 2021, 19:04:05
Hello everyone!
We hope you are all well!

After a long absence, we're back at our favourite forum with our latest version of a "compact" Hogwarts. We tried several buildings in the past but now, due to the usual lack of space, we are circumscribed to a small table and aimed to build vertically - in a way that still allow us to play some key-scenes and access the building and rooms on the sides... and the dungeons with our beloved troll :P

We pictured some scenes for you and we hope you enjoy them! Let us know if you recognise some customs of characters and/or film/book moments. :yup:

Here is the building - the sky is photoshop-improvised, of course, not perfect at all.
(the fantastic high walls are 3D from Playmoebius  )

Attention: There is an "infiltrated" toy, an outsider, you can imagine from which company.  :-[ We must admit we love the little one, and his size also comes quite handy for the character.  8-)

Bloody brilliant Lufty. Loved the seer/fortune teller teacher, great use of parts. Haven't seen those guardian legs to make characters taller before, certainly works for Hagrid.

So good! I think you really captured the spirit of Hogwarts (literally in a few pictures!). I love the greenhouse with mandrake-pulling, the potions lesson, the library, Dobby the House Elf, the Weasley twins, Harry, Ron and Hermione, the list goes on!

This must have taken ages to create, no wonder you have been 'away' for a while, Lufty. Welcome back!

How did you get those flames to light up on the torches?

It's brilliant!

In addition to what GrahamB has mentioned, I also love the Owlery, and Dumbledore's study with the pensieve - and Fawkes.

Such fun.

Thank you, Klickteryx! I struggled a bit with those guardian legs because they are not really adequate... But, being half-giant, Hagrid has to be taller than the others, and the taller clown legs were too "thin" for him…  ;)

Thank you, dearest Graham, I’m so glad you liked it :) It has been a rough year, you know why, but playmobil is always there with several projects and customs waiting for a moment of distraction to spread some joy. ;)
The torches with lights are not modified, they’re electric light modules system X from set 6160, I thought they might go unnoticed in the middle of all the Steck :D

Thanks, Raven! It’s special to get a compliment from you, because I love your pics here on PF

I cannot comment on these regarding Harry Potter (a couple of movies watched, and long forgotten :-[ ) - but it's GORGEOUS!

Love the building, and the tiny tower-building on rocks

And the white guy with a beard! I never considered using a beard with that hair - well.. until now :P

I also love the pic of the reading cat - it's a wonderful photo.

(I do remember making a "Hagrid" for a friend, but went with a fat guy with old legs with artic boots - the kind Patrick... uhm.. the guys from the Scott Polar Institute wear ;) )

Lots of wonderful stuff there. Really love what you've done

If you are going to mix that other brand their minifig sized Niffler is excellent

Thank you, Tahra :) The tiny tower-building is supposed to represent Hadrid’s house, which of course should be proportionally much bigger.  :'(

I think Hagrid looks much better with fat legs and boots, but he must (he must! he must!) be taller than the others. And Dobby smaller, therefore the use of that other brand... Life is full of compromises.  :P

The reading cat is McGonagall’s animagus on a free time moment between classes (she can transform into a cat, you would love it!)

I forgot to mention the pheasant who wants to be a phoenix when she grows up!

She has to grow more feathers but already has the mandatory bright colours. :P

Thank you Eplay, Tiermann and Mr Raven for your kind comments!

Ah, maybe it's like the intrisic nature spell Nysander masters ("let thy inner symbol be revealed"), in my beloved Nightrunner Series (Wikipedia link (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Nightrunner_Series))

Regardless, a gorgeous pic

Making / unmaking of Hogwarts. All parts for future record.
Not here: furniture, accessories and figures.

Wow! That's an impressive collection of Steck! And only the four tall windows are customised parts?

I think I should probably be scared that I have every part there but the special tall windows and maybe a couple short on the double arch walls. You didn't show the greenhouse parts.
I have seen a couple of the movies but not read the books actually. Something to think about doing if I get bored with not enough Playmobil to keep me occupied. Heh

Thanks for sharing :)

I LOVE making ofs...   I think we (ok, at least I) don't realize the amount of parts we use in a building...

Hope you took more pics of the construction... or you have a better memory than me. Then again, this IS steck, so may be doable from finished building pics ;)

Yes Graham, only the 4 tall windows are 3D from Playmoebius, I bought them specifically for Hogwarts main room
The rest are original Steck, no idea where I got all that over the years. Plus the 3666 and the other smaller ones, those are on separate boxes...  :-[

Someone said “there is never enough Steck”, no worries…  ;)

The Greenhouse was packed along with the accessories and figures, I didn’t photograph those, but from the greenhouse set I used only the main building with the roof + sliding doors …I would need about 10 or 20 greenhouses to achieve something similar to Professor Sprout's herbology class from the movies, but I only have one…  :-\

"Three times a week they went out to the greenhouses behind the castle to study Herbology, with a dumpy little witch called Professor Sprout, where they learned how to take care of strange plants and fungi, and found out what they were used for."

I took many pictures because I do wish to build it again some day. When I’m old and have a house by the sea with green shutters on the windows facing the garden and a big attic to display my playmobil collection…. Oh well. I keep on dreaming :P

That's a great dream! Maybe you will need several outbuildings or a barn for your PM displays? And car parking for the visiting public, reasonable entry fee, discount for PF members?

Der absolute Hammer! Absolutely marvellous!

Brillant scenes - and those figurines clearly to be recognised (at least to those who know the movies). Madame Hooch, Owlery, Troll, Divination lessons, Malfoy and his stick... (well I hope I AM correct here...  :-[) That's absolutely gorgeous, CHEERS!
