Title: Novelties / New catalogue (1st half 2022) available
Post by: StJohn on August 29, 2021, 07:55:41
Pictures of the trade catalogue are being published now at Klickwelt (https://klickywelt.de/viewtopic.php?f=16&t=76610/) (log-in required), under strict embargo against sharing, so let's wait and see how long it will last until they are leaked.

Some highlights:

New classic cars, including Mercedes 300 SL
Figures 21, including a fish costume. The Vampire in full length coat is my favorite
Snake lady from cancelled Everdreamerz 4 including among new Playmofriends
Steck à la 3839 returns in Ayuma
etc.

Thanks for letting us know! I just checked it and there are indeed some promising sets and figures to be released!

Some personal favourites:

Figures:
70732 - male figures: Count Dracula (reminds me a lot of the Bram Stoker's Dracula (http://fishstreamtv.com/the-quarantine-stream-bram-stokers-dracula-is-a-bloody-gothic-delight/)) and the fencer with the skirt (nice colour for some customs)
70733 - female figures: the Indian princess and the Parisian girl

PlaymoFriends:
70857: the harpist (unfortunately no brown version of the harp yet)
70859: the Snake Lady! Gorgeous klicky!!! As StJohn pointed out, this is the same mold as the female genie they were going to release for the cancelled Everdreamerz 4 (I still hope they will release this genie in the future)

SpecialPlus:
70873: A hipster with an electric kick scooter, nice colour of the shirt! Could be of use for my Western customs
70874: A new circus set ;D ! It seems the lady has the same prints on here sleeves as the Roncalli klickies, so she's a must have!
70876: The child with the monster underneath his bed, reminds me a lot of the movie Monster, Inc. (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Monsters,_Inc.)

DuoPacks:
70821: Oriental prince and princess, the prince looks amazing! Very useful for my circus acts.

Ayuma:
70807: Bat Fairies' Ruins: As StJohn pointed out already: the return of STECK! And a rock that is combinable with the Steck formation. Also a very nice tree that resembles a kind of tree fairy holding some bats.

And the pics are gone from Klickywelt. The author pulled them because they were distributed against their explicit wishes. You can see them now at facebook.com/Playmobilermua/, and presumably elsewhere.

As usual.. though I suppose it always happens, and removing them from there does nothing. I understand the author though...

I wish there was the dragon pic, under that novelmore wagon, I think?

Oh well. Hopefully someone else will post the rest.

The catalog will be out soon enough at Playmobil.de,  looks like there may be a few things of interest but no major new theme that interests me so far.

The little Steck Tower (70807) looked like it had a gargoyle that I don't think I'd seen before - I'd be interested to see how that attaches to the tower itself.

Going all out on the model cars, and I think I'll probably end up buying some of them. The Mercedes 300 SL is a beautiful car, and the Mini might be cute. And the Porsche....

New sets for the Modern House 9266, which is mostly interesting because it's (I think) the first time in a while that they've refreshed the furniture sets rather than re-design the modern house.

No-one is talking about the beautiful Novelmore traders cart? Obviously I could do without the roof-top weaponry and stuff, but it looks lovely (and if you've not seen the pictures, it's not the same mould as the scraped Everdreamerz gypsy cart)

The little Steck Tower (70807) looked like it had a gargoyle that I don't think I'd seen before (...)

It occurs in different colours in 70362 Scooby-Doo! Adventure in the Cemetery (30 06 7123 - Friedhof-Gruft-Dachfig (https://playmodb.org/cgi-bin/showpart.pl?partnum=30-06-7123)) and now also in 70745 Novelmore/Violet Vale Wizard Tower (30 02 8184 - Friedhof-Gruft-Dachfig (https://playmodb.org/cgi-bin/showpart.pl?partnum=30%2002%208184)).

I now do! And hope the roof extension is collapsable, so that one can hide the pointless cannon. Also no need for scythes at the wheels. Otherwise: a lovely set!

Post by: Oliver on August 29, 2021, 22:29:07
I see - I thought the Gargoyle might be that most exciting possibility i.e. a new Steck piece  But I guess it's just 'sitting' as a statue rather than being properly incorporated (if that makes sense).

I think it looks like the roof canon collapses in, so it should look good. I know they're a bit fantasy, but I like the use of the chains attached to the harnesses. I'm also in two minds about the design on the cart. On the one hand, I struggle with the stickers - but if it is stickers it would give people more options for customising it.

Thanks to our friends of AmClicks there are now clear pictures of the Figures series 21. I'm glad the person who took them, has a great camera or scanner :P , you can clearly see all details! :wow:

http://amclicks.org/foro/novedades-playmobil/figuras-serie-21-fotos-y-comentarios/

Some comments:
It turns out the first male figure is a pirate butcher, I really need that beard and let's hope the torso is nice too!
As we already suspected, the count Dracula figure is a must have!!! I guess this is the highlight of the series!
The blue skirt of the fencer is absolutely a must have as well!

Then... This must be the most disappointing female series so far... (for me at least). The only nice detail I can point out is the Indian bride with the nose chain (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nose_chain). First I was excited like: my goodness, is Playmobil going to do a "Dune (https://www.imdb.com/title/tt1160419/)" wave?!! But Google helped me out 8}
Maybe I'll go for the Parisian girl and the Peacock Queen.

Thanks for the link, bml87! The boys are great – the oriental warrior also deserves mentioning. A long wait till January 2022. :P But what do we make of a nose chain without a nose? ???

I admire their ability to stick to a long-held standard.  Also I am totally in for Store Brand Alucard, French Lady, Bride of the Creature from the Black Lagoon, Social Media Influencer...

The case will do fine, thanks.

Is the female ninja head moulded with a mask or might it be removable like a beard? Poor choice of legs for the fireman, too billowy, that design works best for skateboarders and the like which it was created for. Is the horned one meant to be a gargoyle? What is the guy with the dog meant to be? ???
Not sure how much use the sleeping girl is either unless her head turns and she has open eyes.

Did you see the surprised face on the guy with the spider? That's a great one! Really like the gargoyle. That's one of the head pieces from the cancelled Everdreamerz.
I think it's interesting they used the fish suit to make a Koi. I wonder fi the torso has any print on it to match those nice sleeves? Nice to see a French woman to match the French sports guy and the Paris Special. Is the Avocado woman a spa goer, or a super hero? I kind of think she would be cool as a super hero of some sort. Angel warrior is beautiful as well.
I think it's a strong series for both this time.

It's a girl in pyjama's with an eye mask / sleep mask and she brought her pillow as well. She's probably at a pyjama party ;)

Overall a nice serie. My thoughts:
I really like the Indian brides clothes, but I’m not so sure about the nose ring
Love the angel warrior.
Not sure on how to use the koi costume  ???
And I wonder how the female ninja looks without the skirt.

The Dracula and gargoyle are amazing
Love the dirt on the knees of the rugby player ;D
And the Kendo (Japanese fencing) figure is a great addition to my Japan collection. I hope he is Asian underneath that mask.

Could be of use in a themepark / aquapark diorama or in a zoo.

If you zoom in I believe you can see Asian eyes :)

Hmmm...not too many pieces catch my eye.  I like the Indian warrior (I wonder if he is meant to represent Ashoka) and I like the Indian royal couple too. And the driver of the carriage in the Novelmore section is very fetching as well.  I like how they are introducing more diverse characters.

When a Star Wars fan like me thought you meant this Ahsoka (https://starwars.fandom.com/wiki/Ahsoka_Tano) and for all the other Star Wars fans here, Basie is clearly talking about this Ashoka (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ashoka) :-[ hehe

I'm looking forward to that Novelmore carriage, it looks amazing! I'm curious if it's stickered (probably) or printed.

Very rarely for normal catalogue stuff and pretty much never for an actual building.

Several sets had this small fort in it:

The battlement/low wall pieces are steck.
The dormer window in the Super 4 pirate hideout set is steck.

(https://external-content.duckduckgo.com/iu/?u=https%3A%2F%2Fimg.grouponcdn.com%2Fdeal%2F27vL34hf6BAH4qRgyjwgP6mwmLzE%2F27-1500x900%2Fv1%2Fc700x420.jpg&f=1&nofb=1)

Some of the rectangular windows from various lines are steck. 5422 uses a steck window for the door going out to the balcony.

New ponies again, that must be a popular theme since they are doing it yet again.
The Ayuma sets are nice, especially the bat fairies.
Dino Rise is in general stupid. Only 2 actual velociraptors and the rest are things like a lava scorpion. What's the point of a dinosaur theme without any dinosaurs? Especially not a single new mold for a dinosaur species while they are making a ton of new molds for dumb tech pieces that will just be thrown aside to play with the dinos?
The one potentially useful thing for me is the rollercoaster that can be pried out of the DinoRise stuff and placed in my fairgrounds. Looks like the one cart a figure can sit in reasonably is in a separate set so can be bought in multiples as necessary.

Should Playmobil have large dinosaurs? It might be better if whoever makes the larger figures like XXL made the bigger dinosaurs but had attachment points on them for harnesses which would be available in regular Playmobil sets.

They are currently going wherever their excel files take them. The company is now run by people from the trades, it's all about numbers and recreating things that brought success to competitors before. Brand authenticity is carelessly sacrificed in the process.

The people who dare to ask "why" end up sidelined, in burnout or have already left.

We have been down in Norfolk for a few days and called in at Jarrold's in Norwich.  They are a traditional department store and have a large toy department.  At first, I thought they no longer stocked Playmobil but eventually found it.  It was a big display but none of the familiar Playmobil boxes, all highly coloured  and very cluttered box designs with the Playmobil name lost in them.

If you have a logo and colour scheme everyone recognises, why change it!

Because expensive consultancy firms are paid to tell them how to do everything differently, without any notion of the brand. And the new management itself has little notion so you end up in chaos.

Yesterday i saw the new Dino Rise Rock set in the toy store, from the box it is impossible to tell what you are actually buying. The Dark Grey Base sinks into the dark background and only the dino and a figure pop out. Perhaps its a printing error that made things worse, but this would not have left the factory only a few years ago.

While we're waiting for official prices on the new sets, it's worth noting that the reissue of the 6527 Victorian Pianist reissue (sans rug) is a mere $5.24 on Playmobil.us, €9.99 on Playmobil.de, £8.99 on Playmobil.co.uk, €7.49 on Playmobil.pt, and so on and so forth.

This was sold as set 5551 around 1990, and is being sold well below the retail price I paid at work a few years ago for the reissue and lower still than the price from that 1990s catalog posted a couple of pages back.

But no box and no blinkies - well, noise, in this case. Which is nice.

Checking back through my order history, I paid £8 once, and £4.67 once (I assume that was with a 25% off offer) - in fact, when Pianist hanging around and having the price tweaked a lot made me pessimistic about any further Victorian sets

KITT!!!!!!!!
Look at the movie car set for May 2022! That's a Pontiac Trans Am/ Firebird.
Knight Rider is coming to Playmobil! I'm so happy!!!!!!!

That does appear to be the case. The other covered car looks like a Chevrolet Corvette, which would fit if there is a deal with General Motors.

The Playmofriends from this catalogue are shown here at FB:

The Faun 70815 (with goat legs fitting a speedo body) should give us all joy. The more conventional Viking 70810 is also neat.

Thanks for the update

It does look like it has longer legs than a normal child figure - which would be an easy way to make a 'teen' figure - but it could possibly be poor photo-shopping?

I can hereby confirm it will be a longer child than the usual Playmobil children: 2.25 in / 5,75 cm

The US online catalog for 2022 is at Playmobil.us now. Looks like we are getting many of the newest sets this year. What we are not getting is last year's starter sets like the astronomer, paleontologist, and Eskimos. So I will need to scramble for some sets from Germany as they will be gone entirely soon.

I've seen some of the new figures, like the superhero from Special Plus Set 70872, show up in sale listings from Malta. If the white capes are clean (no printing), I'll need quite a few of those! :D So far I haven't seen anything but the figures without accessories though.

It also looks like the Corvette is more likely since the covered car is specifically called an "American Muscle Car".

Also, "BMW AG" is cited below the Mini, so there's still hope for some classic BMWs in the future! <*)

Would be great if it was a Corvette C-1 . C-2 or C-3 would be ok but not as classic .

the body lines don’t look like it though and I hope it’s not a C-4 or newer

Maybe we’ll get a Shelby one day

The new stingray is not classic at all so I’m sure it’s not going to be that one. It’s more of an affordable super car and not a classic American Muscle car.

The German catalog update is out as well. Identical to the US one except the German one has Asterix, and has the Harbor theme where the US has NHL hockey. They are closing the gap between export and home markets it seems. More and more themes are being released everywhere at once.

I just realized that the Canadian catalog doesn't have any mention of the Asterix theme. Will it be exclusive to Europe?
So far, there's no complete theme that catches my eye. A few sets or figures here and there, but the first half of 2022 might be pretty quiet for me. Until Knight Rider comes out.

The release schedule for the Special Plus sets seems to vary in the different catalogues too.

It also looks like some price increases are on the way for some kinds of sets, at least for the new 2022 sets in some countries. Take a look at the DuoPack (up ~$2.00 each) and Special Plus (up ~$1.00) prices here:

Can't imagine that tbh. Geobra isn't known as a company to participate in heated political controversies like this (let alone in a foreign country). Their policy is more to observe the things going on and silently adjust the product to changed circumstances if necessary (like adding more poc-figures to various themes or the seemingly gay family-sets to playmo-plus without printing #blm-tags or rainbow-flags on the catalogue-cover).

n germany it's usual that police cars have their id/callsign printed on the outside, so 22/4 probaly stands for car number 4 of police-station 22 or something like this.

I've seen similar markings in the UK, but not as prominent.  I have assumed that they are recognition signs.

Yes, WHY?

I did some further research on Google and I found one website that says the release will be in August and not May like it was originally planned.

Source: https://www.tbhstore.nl/a-68958401/pre-orders/pre-order-playmobil-70924-knight-rider-k-i-t-t-with-figures/#description

There seem to be many delays lately (some Victorian sets, all Western sets, one of the circus sets, ...), I assume it has to do with a shortage of raw materials?
