Hi all,
This is a "mountain" my dad made for me when I was just a spud. It is playmobil scale and about the coolest play scene I ever had. He probably wished I would have washed it off first, but here's a pic of it. (I'll clean it up if you want more detailed pics). It has several levels with different sized rooms for whatever a person could want. It's largely self-explanitory, but the flat tops I mainly used for vehicle landing, but they could have castle or house structures on top as well. There's a big room that I think I used as a church most of the time. The little room off to itself across the bridge I used as a kitchen...anyway, It is very cool and I thought I'd post it. I have Porco waving to ya'll so you can see the scale better.

Wow, this is really very cool.
Please can you make/post some more detailed photos? I'm quite interested in this.

Hi all,
That "mountain"was made in March of 1982, when Knightmo was 6 years old. ;D
It was made from 3/8 inch plywood, and coated with spar varnish.

That's a very interesting creation indeed. Bags of play value and imagination value for a youngster. Nicely done, Jimbo.

You have a great dad, Jimmy!
(But, I'm sure that you already knew that ... ;)
Was the "mountain" a present for a special occasion?
It really is cooool ... :wow:
All the best,
Richard

One of the coolest things about this compared to some stuff out there that you can buy is that it is a generalized layout that lends itself totally to the imagination without any pre-set use. (I've heard a lot of complaints about pre-set play stuff). Naturally, the mountain saw battles mostly, with good guys knocking the bad guys off the edge or down the stairs..(I wish I was a kid again sometimes :))
I don't remember if it was a gift for a special occasion or not. If a new wooden toy marked a special occasion in those days, there were a heck of a lot of special occasions ;D

Wow, very nice.
It looks to me some sort of BIG tree hut or something.
Reminds me of the place where Peter Pan lives.
Seeing all the details i wonder how many hours went into the mountain 8}

Hi Rob,
I'm thinking it took about 40 hours to build...I kinda made it up as I went along, and stopped when the kids couldn't reach any higher.
Best regards

Looks like it would have been a real lot of fun to play with! 8-)
I love all the different levels with 'hidey-holes' and the way some are joined with bridges and stairs. Thanks for sharing it with us, Knightmo! :)
I have a friend who's dad built her a tree-shaped structure to play with when she was little, but I'm not sure what it was made from. I clearly remember being quite envious and wishing that it belonged to me. ;D
I also agree with Rob on the Peter Pan-like quality. It would make an ideal home for Playmo fairies and gnomes. :yup:
