New batch of Pirates.
« on: December 03, 2011, 14:08:31 »
Not talking about a new theme this time, just suggestions for one of a very stalwart theme that never left stores since it was introduced: pirates.

They do keep things fresh with this theme and aside from the odd cannon projectiles I have to say the theme is still as strong as ever.
Regardless, I still like to make some new suggestions for it.

-Star fort.
No more fooling around with small prisons, lighthouses and such, but an actual fort for the soldiers this time, which would be the largest set of the theme.
I'd suggest to base its shape around the design used in the third picture on this page:
http://fantasticmaps.wordpress.com/2011/08/31/more-zeitgeist-maps/
But without the sharp pointy corners and most of the interiour being water, so that a large playmobil ship can fit in there.
There's walls all around with a gate on land, if possible a large gate at the sea side but thats optional.
The corners could be slightly raised  and each could have a cannon, four cannons in total.
Inside the walls there could be room for a prison, barracks and small treasure room.
Around the fort there could be breakable wall parts that not only serve as a way of showing destruction, but also allow kids to play inside of the fort when these breakable walls are removed. Walls could be destroyed to free pirate buddies from jail or to acces the treasure room.
The entire structure could stand on an underground plate, possibly the plate could consist out of multible pieces to create the stone docks pretty much like with the current redcoat fort, same height as well.
Aside from the structure and cannons, there could also be a chest with gold, a gunrack with muskets, several barrels and sacks of grain, two bunk beds, torches, flags, swords, pistols and some food and drinks.
Included clickies: Officer, three soldiers, a maid and a captive pirate.

-Trader's ship.
The size of the usual large pirate ships, this boat is intended for trading, giving the pirates something to steal.
It's a somewhat different design with more storage space and more trade goods such as crates, barrels and chest than usual, and less weaponry.
Two smaller board cannons included instead of average cannons.
Included clickies: A male merchant, a female merchant, a child and a sailor.

-Tropical island hide out.
A new hide out for pirates on an island, but with more trees and vegetation than usual.
Comes with a rope bridge that connects a raised platform with a wooden hut, and goes over a river.
Comes with various supplies, a single cannon, hiding places, traps and weaponry.
Included clickies: Three pirates.

-Ship of the line.
A truly awe inspiring soldier ship with three masts, eight cannons and a complete floor below deck for the cannons.
Large parts of the deck could be open to allow easy acces to below deck, in the front of the ship there could be a small storage room/carpenter's workshop.
And at the back could be two rooms on top of each other: a captain's cabin and a kitchen/dining room where strategy could also be discussed.
Aside from cannons there would also be various foods and drinks, barrels, maps, and all the tools needed to sail a ship.
Included clickies: Captain, four soldiers, two sailors and a minor officer.
This set would be a true work of art and could be released slightly different in each country: with flags and soldiers appropriate to the country.
(American marines in America, Dutch flag and soldiers in the Netherlands, Redcoats in Brittain, etc. )
Considering how they did use to release green policemen in germany and blue elsewhere it does not seem that much of a stretch, especially since this item would be perfect to just put on display.
They could sell it at any museum that has parts or entire ships from the period.

I like the way you think!  A star fort would be an awesome set, as would a ship of the line. :)9
