About 5 years ago there was a discussion thread on this topic. Since then I think that about half or more of the animals talked about have been done. So what's next? What new animals would you like to see?
At the dinner we had in Germany the CEO of Playmobil Frau Shauer asked me what animal I most wanted to see. I said anteater. It took us a while to get that translated correctly :D So if you ever see an anteater made it's all my fault. Wouldn't it be cute to have an anteater with a baby one made like the baby koala so it could fit on the mom's back?
-
I would love to see an okapi! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Okapi
On a less obscure level, I'd LOVE to see a llama.
Also, some australian animals, like platypuses, emus, cassowarys and dingos.
Komodo dragons, lemurs, gibbons (with movable arms that could actually brachiate through the trees), african wild dogs, red river hogs, and baboons would also be cool.
-
Interesting topic Tim... Im not a fan of animals, but I would love to see more types of dogs and cats to use in victorian, western and modern themes. maybe an angora-type cat... with fluffy cheeks and buchy tail  or cats in diferents postures... :) a chihuhua...
-
Angora or Siam (?) cats would be fine and not too difficult.
If you are looking for something more exotic, i'd go for hanging bats (to be put into castle towers and caves ;D)
-
Oh yes, bats would be awesome!
-
I'd love to see...

MORE BABY ANIMALS IN GENERAL :)

I'm not into animals but I do like the ones PM have now. What about a German Shepard! This should be a no brainer for a german company. :)
-
Luis, you forgot the bongo! :yup:
I second the eland and the oryx for sure. And greater kudu and gerenuk would be awesome, too! O, and blackbucks.
-

ohh i thought the bongo was the same as the nyala? :D
i'd love blackbucks too, for my asian zoo / jungle - as well as (asian) water buffaloes!

there's already one :hmm:

No, they're different, but very closely related to the mountain nyala, of the same genus, along with kudu and a couple of other species. I think bongos are wonderfully distinctive-looking.

:-[ i am sorry tiermann if i am deviating a bit from your topic.
:yup: what i would really like would be small ds packages of animals to "populate" my pirate islands and ships.
;) this would be so easy for geobra to produce.
:hmm: the way i see how much is asked for a single playmo-chicken on ebay this would surely help me to go into the first stage of customizing - adding some small parts.
:'( in a christmas some years ago i realized my klicky-pirates should be starving from lack of things to eat and decided that it was my turn to offer them something.
:) a few chickens and pigs did the trick (along with some bottles of wine, fruit and vegetables) but this was an expensive feast.
-
Thanks...Tiermann!! This is the perfect thread and you are the perfect individual to open such a thread!! I have to read all your comments first before putting up mine two cents. But I really hope they can issue a huge set with all the animals, very much like the Noah Ark minus the Ark~~!!!
-
Angora or Siam (?) cats would be fine and not too difficult.
If you are looking for something more exotic, i'd go for hanging bats (to be put into castle towers and caves ;D)
second~~!! BAT....we need bats
-
I agree with that too....hanging bats would be awesome!

Agree.....Have you tried getting them through DS? I dont know about the UK DS or US DS...but according to the KW ETN spreadsheet.....animals are indeed more expensive than those klickies
-
Hey Bonnie, the German Shepard link you gave is a stretch in my opinion. To me, the colors don't look right.
-
That was Luis. ;D But here's a pic that shows it a little better, it does look like a sheperd, but I agree it could be improved. http://playmodb.org/cgi-bin/showpart.pl?partnum=30-66-6840

The german sheperd was Hans Beck's last design :sorrow:
-
Awww... then it should be kept!
-
What a great topic! I love the all Playmobil animals and am very likely to buy any new animal that is offered, whether I need it or not. :-[
So far, my favorite suggestion is bats! I love bats! I mean, I really love bats, even real ones. :)
-
German Shepherd examples:
I agree about bats, they would be great to have for Halloween too. After all L#%@ has had bats for years...
I like antelope too - Kudu would be nice
-
I think that Playmobil has done lots of great animals, but there's one that I'd like to see added, and that's the platypus :yup:. It would make a great set with an Australian Outback/platypus enthusiast with a camera and a platypus shirt. The platypus could have a opening beak, and a flipper that could bend using the technology from the bendable snake in 4843, http://store.playmobilusa.com/on/demandware.store/Sites-US-Site/en_US/Product-Show?pid=4843&cgid=Schatzjaeger (http://store.playmobilusa.com/on/demandware.store/Sites-US-Site/en_US/Product-Show?pid=4843&cgid=Schatzjaeger). It could be packaged as a Special or as part of an outback series.

wow... you really have thought this through! That's a great contribution.... but what is a platypus? :eh?: :P
-
Hi tonguello  ,
A platapus is a aquatic mammal that has a beak and flippers like a duck and a body with fur. Strangely, it lays eggs instead of giving birth to live young. It's not a very common or well known animal, which is probably why Playmobil hasn't made one yet.

oooooh! ok thanks, I know that animal now but here it is called Ornitorrinco, I didn't know the name in english. ;)
-
Wow, ace, you really know your stuff! One thing about the platypus, though, it's illegal to export one from australia, so you'll never get to see one in a zoo outside australia. :(
-

i didn't either! ;D but i think this is a great idea too :D

interesting!
you learn something new every day :o
-
Ace this is a very creative and constructive idea!!! :)9
-
The platypus is a nice idea but they are pretty small to be doing moving parts on.
Also like most things from Australia they are venomous, the males have poisoned spurs on their hind legs.
-
Hey Tim, Some Maltese terrier dogs and hummingbirds would be really cool.
I can imagine the hummingbirds would have to be the size of the woodpecker or a little smaller but would definitely be cool to see. ;)
-
Wow ... Bats and hummingbirds ... And I thought there was like everything, in the world of playmo zoo ... 8}
Well, they don't have a plesiosaurus (the Nessie in "science") ::)
-
A cheetah would be cool too.
-
Ohh, so many cool ideas. I want a wombat. From Australia but not poissonous.
My niece wants to have bees since I told her that the bees are the one who make blossoms to cherries. (I know they would be small like butterflies)
I want a malayan tapir, baby swans, chinese dragon (I know not a real animal but I really want a chinese palast theme with cherry trees and pagodas), mouse in a piece of cheese, clown fish and fish that can be attached to a fishing rod.
-
. . . fish that can be attached to a fishing rod.
Syl, do you know about these?
30 66 4450 - Magnetic Fish (http://playmodb.org/cgi-bin/showpart.pl?partnum=30-66-4450)
30 20 8002 - Fish, magnetic (http://playmodb.org/cgi-bin/showpart.pl?partnum=30-20-8002)
-
Oh yes,a tapir would be great! ;D and i'd love to see an updated wildebeest, too.
-

No, exactly what I was looking for. I just havn't seen them yet. Thanks.
-
Oh yes,a tapir would be great! ;D and i'd love to see an updated wildebeest, too.
i actually like the design of the wildebeest - maybe it just needs more color/details
-
i actually like the design of the wildebeest - maybe it just needs more color/details
Yes, that's what I meant, I'd like one with printing. ;D
-
I'm sure they would do a new model for it unless they were just part of a nostalgia set - like with the old safari truck.
Canada Geese would be nice
Wooly rhinoceros since they've moved into stone age.
-
Canadian Geese would be cool, Tim. ;D
I would also like to see peahens added to accompany the peacocks, also more nests with eggs. :yup:
Joe
-
Turkeys!!!
or there are already turkeys? I saw one once but i think it was a custom... by Sylvia?
-
Oh, yeah we do need turkeys! And joe, peahens would be great. It drives me crazy only having males roaming the zoo.
-
Yes Sylvia did a custom turkey, and that's definitely an animal they should do, it's one of the few typical farm animals they've never done.
-
What a great topic and i like the anteater-idea but of course i join the "bat-group"...a hanging one and a flying one...that shouldn't be too difficult for geobra to realize and they could be used in so much different themes (knights, jungle, western, zoo...even the farm-theme). I've got an enclosure for them already (based on a 3079 space-station) and i hope there'll be some flying black residents some day.
...and please, no more parrots... ;)
-
 Yes, no more parrots!!!! We're drowning in them!
-
(http://animobil.info/playmo/drowningparrots.jpg)
-
It's odd that _even_ small collectors feel this way ... ::)
-
LOL
looks like a scene from a lost hitchcock-sequel...
-
   Great pic, Tim!
-
I am in absolute awe of the animobil site :o :wow:
It seems there are more Playmobil animals than I ever imagined! Swallows! Swallow babies! A green duckling! And all those different kinds of dinosaurs...
I now want to collect quite a few of the ones I never knew existed, so as far as animals go, I'm all set for now :)
But I am in favour of the suggested Australian animals. I would love to see a wombat!
-
I see this is an old thread, but the one time greatest animal for playmobil to make is ........
the sloth!
My number one favorite.
http://www.squirrelsofdoom.com/sloth.html (http://www.squirrelsofdoom.com/sloth.html)
-
Oooh, yeah, a sloth would be cool!
-
huski dogs
-
Oooh, yeah, a sloth would be cool!
:yippee: :yippee:
-
a walrus could be cool, but a "buffalo musk" will be great ...
-
At PCC they are taking suggestions in a thread. I am going to do a post specifically on animals based on observations among collectors. I will point out that the first animal mentioned int he thread was the okapi - which is coming out this December. So maybe they do listen on this subject.
My list:
Domestic animals:
New Longhorn Cattle
Llama
Turkey and hen (brown)
Wild animals:
Anteater
Armadillo
Bat (most wanted in a vote at PF)
Bongo
Canada Goose
Cheetah
Puffin
Snow Leopard
Tasmanian Devil
Walrus
-
I mentioned a few animals there in the PCC too. Here was my list:
llama
snow leopard
ring-tailed lemur
female gorillas
male orangutans
Australian animals:
platypus
cassowary
emu
dingo
wombat
Others I wish I'd remembered to mention:
red-ruffed lemur
coquerel's sifaka
red panda
bongo
gemsbok
dik-dik
bloodhound
english bulldog
And this may sound weird, but I think cattle egrets would be cool, you know the birds that are always sitting on the backs of cows. It would be cool for them to have a way to perch on the cattle.
-
We need some aurochs. :)
-
I had to look that one up! That would be cool, in historical themes.
-
what about a series of extinct animals? starting with the dodo bird
It could contain an insert that would teach about were they lived and the possible reasons to their extinction
Oh yes and I would love to see more reptiles , camona dragons, geckos, camelions but in closer scale than those huge ones that they made recently
-
The extinct animals like the aurochs and the ones you mentioned could be included in the Prehistory theme. That would be cool.
-
I figured you would all remind me of things I want that I missed. Adding red panda, and wooly rhinoceros and aurochs.
-
I figured you would all remind me of things I want that I missed. Adding red panda, and wooly rhinoceros and aurochs.
Oh yeah the Red Panda would be fantastic! I like the idea of a lemur and a sloth too.
What about a Capybara??? Or a true Jaguar?
Macaques and Mandrils...
I'm thinking of all the things I'd love to add to my zoo project!
-
Can't remember if we've mentioned it here, but some more marine animals would be nice, like walruses, manatees, and beluga whales. And a greater variety of tropical fish, with more different molds and not just repaints of the same few molds.
-
Yes new marine animals would be good too!
-
Spider with a web on scale and all the animals you mentioned before,
-
A Knights' destrier (big warhorse) WITH saddle, armour, etc.
-
ants and cockroaches ;D
-
Haha Ras. Then we could recreate Honey I Shrunk The Kids
-
Chipmunks, with the stripes on their backs. And cuter squirrels over all :)
-
tarsiers
hamsters
gerbils
llamas
brontosauri
irish wolf hounds
huskies (a more realistic version than the ones in the tundra sets)
capybaras
bushbabies
-
A platypus would be great. And some extinct species too, like the dodo or the thylacine (Tasmanian wolf).
-
Aw, chipmunks would be so cute!!! We don't have chipmunks this far south, just tons of squirrels, and I remember how I excited I was the first time I was up in New York state at discovering how much cuter they are!
And of course bushbabies are adorable. Related to that, we need some lemurs, too. At least ring-tailed and red-ruffed. Those seem to be the most popular in zoos.
-

Chipmunks are cute, but they rack up attitude. They are also known as "Mini-bears" when youre camping because the amount of noise they make rummaging through the campsite sounds like a big old bear. LOL
I love the idea of a lemur! And a sloth would be awesome too! Oh and definitely a platypus!
-
Yeah, I have been fascinated with the platypus since I was a little kid. They are so awesome. I want an Australia theme so bad.
Sloths, yes! And giant anteaters.
-
Seeing as so much fantasy has infected most themes how about some fantasy animals ?
Sasquatch
The beast of Blandenboro
Jackalopes
Chupacabra
or a hodag?
-
I've only heard of the chupacabra, what are the others supposed to be?
-
Sasquatch is bigfoot, the legendary primate that lives in the woods of North America. And yes, I believe in him. ;)
-
A jackalope is a jackrabbit with proghorned antelope horns.
-
Sasquatch/ Bigfoot is similar to the Yeti.
-
Yeah, I have been fascinated with the platypus since I was a little kid. They are so awesome. I want an Australia theme so bad.
Sloths, yes! And giant anteaters.
Yes, more than just the Koalas and Kangaroo! A Dingo would be cool and though not truly Australian a Tasmanian Devil would be awesome. The zoo theme has been very popular so maybe they will keep expanding it to include other regions.
A Muskox would be cool or Bighorn Sheep too.
The South American rainforest would be great too.
-
Sasquatch/ Bigfoot is similar to the Yeti.
With the difference that sasquatch is black or dark colored. You know, now they think the yeti is a bear, closely related to the polar bear, but shaggier.
Yeah, we've had an african theme, and an almost south america theme in the old jungle series, except that there are no gorillas in south america so they did it wrong. But I would like to see a better south american rain forest and an australian outback.
-

Yes an Amazon Rain forest (Capybara, Jaguar, Ocelot, Crocodile, Tree Frogs, Spider Monkey, Capuchin Monkey, Howler Monkey, Anaconda, Parrots, Iguana,Golden Tamarin, Anteater, just to name a few possible critters- we already have the Caiman)
As for Australia we already have the Kangaroo and Koala and Crocodile, but we could easily add the Wallaby, Dingo, Monitor Lizard, Cassowary, Platypus, Emu, Tasmanian Devil, Cockatoo, just a few possibilities)
-
Don't forget wombats!
-
How did I forget the Wombat? That is a criminal offense. Lol
-
I would like to add my vote for more females of many of the animals already produced (buffalo, moose, gorilla, elk) and males of animals already produced (sheep), as well as the following:
walrus
elephant seal
hawks
turkeys
different geese
different chickens
different pigs
different cows, bulls
-
Turkeys (both sexes) would be great!
Different ducks and geese would be great too
Yes the missing females would be good to have
-
Ooh, an elephant seal would be AWESOME! And I agree there are many missing males/females.
-
A lynx would be great... ;D
-
Bat
Just because it hasn't been said in a while.
-
I would love to see a Lynx, Lynx :D
-
A magpie would be nice.
-
Bat
Just because it hasn't been said in a while.
Haha but it would be cool!
-
Clouded Leopard!
More arctic and snow animals such as the Eurasian Lynx, arctic wolves, arctic fox (although the customs that people have done of this are pretty sufficient). The snow Leopard is a great idea, it would need a head similar to the tiger. Leopard Seals, Muskox, Golden Eagles, etc.
Cheetahs, Baboons, African Wild Dogs, Turkeys, Red Pandas, Sloths, Lemurs, Anteaters. I too, hope they do these all soon.
(Is this thread too old to post to? If it is I apologize.)
-
Yes, it's interesting to see this again.
We got the bat, sort of. And the Lynx. :D
All that you just mentioned would still be great to have.
-
Chinchilla!
-
Seeing as so much fantasy has infected most themes how about some fantasy animals ?
Sasquatch
The beast of Blandenboro
Jackalopes
Chupacabra
or a hodag?
Like to see the Jackalope - or even better the bavarian version of it - the Wolpertinger - it is the same with wings.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wolpertinger (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wolpertinger)
Bats would be also very very nice - someone in the Klickywelt made some bats of himself - very good custom:
http://www.klickywelt.de/viewtopic.php?f=53&t=61479&hilit=walpurgisnacht (http://www.klickywelt.de/viewtopic.php?f=53&t=61479&hilit=walpurgisnacht)

okay, those bats are AMAZING!
I still want South American Animals like Howler Monkeys and Capybara, Sloths!
And Australian: Wallaby, EMU, Dingo, Gohanna Lizards
And Baboons! Red Pandas, Turkey (though I am slowly working on a couple custom ones).
And more BABY animals to animals that we have already (skunks, otters...)
I like the idea of a Chinchilla too. And more dog breeds, different cat breeds...
-
A rabbit, but with teeth like this.
-
A flying pig would be good.
-
They'll make that when pi....oh.
-
Ha!
Actually the piglet fits nicely in the frisbees, so your little pigs can indeed fly. :D
-
They'll make that when pi....oh.
:lmao:
Speaking of frisbees, are these hard or soft plastic. I have both still in boxes that I got as store giveaways but will sell so I'm curious what they're like.
-
They are a soft-ish plastic. Basically they are very much like the classic frisbee but with a center section that adds a little weight. They fly well.
-
They fly well.
:!: ... FLY ! ;D
-

Thanks.
-
So a few more of these animals have made their appearances...
What other animals would you like to see?
I’m still all for more monkey species (Gibbons, Tamarins, Maquacs, Babboons etc)
Lemurs
Beluga Whales
Narwhal
Turkey
Bongos
Oryx
Highland Cattle
Baby animals like Otter Pups
Just to name a few
-
Bongos? ???
-
Bongos? ???
They are a form of antelope
-
Amazing! I never stop learning new things on Playmofriends. The animal was even the top google hit for the word bongo - how had I never heard of it? 8} ;D
:thanks:
-
Here, "Bongo" is something to drink - something suposedly made of a bunch of different fruits : "the good flavor of the jungle" (o bom sabor da selva)
I am hearing the ad song on my head.. Ah, here it is: Um Bongo - o bom sabor da selva (original ad, youtube) (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rRT2P8QI-LQ)
-
Those are great ads. Never heard of that before, only know the animal bongo and the drums.
My top list these days is
Turkey
Anteater
New version longhorn cattle
-
Yes, the turkey is a huge want.
I’d love an opposum as well.
The Longhorn cows would be fantastic too. Just a bigger variety of the domestic animals, more pig varieties, different goats (think Boer), and make a black sheep in the new style mold
-
One old one I would like them to bring back is the sleeping house cat. It was a much nicer mold than the current similar cat. It has a lot of charm.
Also a bird like an African Crowned Crane

-
All good choices!
-
a pink elephant or a pink monkey.. that i would like to buy
-
Long haired cats and dogs.
Irish wolf hound.
-
Bactrian camels would be great - especially as part of a Central Asian theme! :yup:
