Mrs Applepie's little Patisserie

The sun was just rising over New Regent St and everyone was still asleep, everyone but Mrs Applepie, her maid Alice, young Peter & Rupert the Cat who all woke up at dawn to prepare the last finishing touches for the opening day of the little Patisserie.

Mrs Applepie's heart was filled with Joy at the thought that all her Friends would soon be gathering at her little Patisserie to enjoy her delicious creations and everything was to be perfect for that very special day

Samuel Carter from the London Times

When suddenly a stylish little sports car stopped in front of the Patisserie with an energetic young man at its wheel.

( This cute little custom car is "La Chiquitina" created by my talented Spanish Friend Euripo  )

As soon as the young man exited his little sports car, Mrs Applepie, Alice & Peter recognised Samuel Carter the famous journalist of the Times London. But what was he doing so early in the morning in this quiet part of the town?

But of course! Samuel Carter was in New Regent St to report on the opening of Mrs Applepie's Patisserie for his newspaper, The Times London.

Smile for the camera! Mrs Applepie, Alice & Peter were very impressed by Samuel Carter and being part of the Times Newspaper but they smiled and stood proud for their little Patisserie.

Mrs Applepie's little Patisserie opening is making headlines. Thanks to Samuel Carter's enthusiastic review, every reader across the land would soon read about Mrs Applepie and her culinary delights

The Celebrities

Following Samuel Carter's article in the London Times, the little patisserie became so popular that celebrities of the era started visiting hoping to have a taste of the Mrs Applepie's delights 

Then a beautiful chauffeur driven 1905 Rolls Royce stopped in front of the little Patisserie with onboard the legendary actress Eliza Doolittle who recently triumphed in the London West End production of My Fair Lady and was soon to sail across the Atlantic to star in New York City! "Crossing the Atlantic aboard the Mauretania will be so much nicer with Mrs Applepie's delicious little cakes"

The next visitor was Jo March freshly arrived from Boston to promote her latest novel in London."I was told to visit Buckingham Palace, Big Ben, Tower Bridge and Mrs Applepie's Patisserie when in London"said the young American novelist" 

One of the highlights of Mrs Applepie's extraordinary day was to receive the visit of Sir Thomas Lipton himself and his valet who granted the little Patisserie the exclusive use of the Lipton Teas brand.

Then the little Patisserie received the aristocratic visit of Lord & Lady Astor with their young daughter. "Everyone in London is speaking about your little Patisserie dear Mrs Applepie and our darling daughter Lavinia would not go home without us stopping by for a few treats and cakes" 

The next visitors to the little Patisserie were Sir William & Lady Balvenie from the Scottish Highlands who had ordered a shortbread flavoured with their famous whisky ( figures created by our dear Friend Elaine  )

Welcoming her Ladyship Violet the Dowager Countess of Grantham was such a great honour for Mrs Applepie who grew an inch taller at the thought that her lovely cakes & cupcakes would be enjoyed at teatime at Downton Abbey 

Miss Charlotte Heywood & Miss Georgiana Lambe stopped by the little Patisserie on their way to Sanditon.

Penelope Featherington could not wait to visit the little Patisserie and bring a selection of cakes & cupcakes to Bridgerton and story has it that Lady Whistledown herself mentioned Mrs Applepie's delights in one of her Society papers.

The Unsinkable Molly Brown stopped by the little Patisserie on her way to Southampton where she was due to sail back to New York aboard the Mauretania. But she still might have a last minute change of heart and book a first class ticket on the Titanic instead as after all, what could go wrong on the fastest, safest and most luxurious ship afloat ?

The day had been a triumph for the little Patisserie with so many customers & celebrities and Mrs Applepie, her Maid Alice & young Peter were preparing the evening closing of the shop at the sun was settling down. But a mysterious shadow hiding behind a bush of hydrangea caught the attention of Rupert the Cat.

Mrs Applepie, her Maid Alice & young Peter retired indoors for the evening and the mysterious man came out from behind the hydrangea bush. It was no other than Monsieur Auguste Escoffier, legendary French Chef of the Ritz Hotel London. But what was such a famous Chef doing by the little Patisserie and more importantly why was he behaving so strangely as the night was about to fall ?

As soon as everything became quiet in the little Patisserie with Mrs Applepie & Friends sitting down to enjoy a well deserve dinner, Chef Auguste Escoffier set up a camera to try and discover the secret recipes & ingredients of Mrs Applepie's culinary delights! But he wasn't aware that the clever Rupert the Cat was observing the scene from above and was reading to take the matter in his own paws...

The courageous little Rupert the Cat jumped on Auguste Escoffier soon followed by young Peter who knocked the famous Chef out by hitting him on the head with Mrs Applepie's wooden spoon

"Being the most famous Chef in the world wasn't enough for you Auguste Escoffier so you had to try and steal our dear Mrs Applepie's secret recipes & ingredients" said young Peter "Well shame on you and we calling the Metropolitan Police" ! "The Police is here young man" said an elegant man wearing a top hat that Peter immediately recognised to be the famous detective Sherlock Holmes.

"The Good will always win over the Evil Chef Escoffier and I guess that you will have plenty of time to meditate on your crime while preparing the prison's canteen meals " said Sherlock Holmes " and well done to Rupert the Cat & young Peter for their courage in apprehending this criminal !

"Chef Auguste Escoffier Arrrested" made the headline of the Times evening news. "The famous Chef was caught trying to steal the secret recipes & ingredients of Mrs Applepie at her New Regent St Patisserie but thanks to the courage of Rupert the Cat and young Peter all is well that ends well! And this unexpected incident made the little Patisserie even more famous and loved than before.
