Title: My junk box revisited
Post by: GrahamB on August 12, 2016, 19:38:38
We quite often buy secondhand  Playmobil lots on ebay and have had some great bargains as a result. Usually, the Playmobil has mixed in with it a lot of bits of other toys, some clearly not Playmobil. There are usually several bits of Lego, Disney toys, Macdonalds toys plus a wide range of other bits. The Lego goes straight into the children's Lego box, sweet wrappers go in the bin, but most of the other bits I keep. I have been doing this for a couple of years and have a medium-sized cardboard box full now (its about 10cm deep):

That was nearly 3 years ago. I STILL haven't thrown the box of 'Junk Items' away! So I went through it again last week and this is what I found, all Playmobil.

What have we here?

30 80 4880 A big metal hook from the cranes 3761, 4084 or 4210
30 07 4780 A yellow spare wheel cover for a 4x4 truck (various sets)
30 60 2480 (part) A black holder and 30 04 4710 Red signal light for Police/ Coast Guard boats 3539, 3599 or 7872
30 60 5280 (part) A blue snorkel from 3479, 3498 or 3772
A green spear decoration from an early Indian set
30 21 4450 A red fire connector (this probably fell in the box later, I can't believe I missed it before!)
30 03 4680 A brown briefcase from teacher in 3560 and other sets
30 22 9892 A white portable screen from 5149, 5150 or 6692
A blue part used to allow acrobats in set 3512 to balance a chair on their head, just visible on the left hand figure here (http://collectobil.com/catalogue/items/3512.htm)

I was really pleased to find these parts, epecially the last one! I have been seraching on ebay for it for 3 years and I've rarely even seen it included in so-called 'complete' sets, let alone sold separately!
(I was a bit less pleased to find the boat light, having bought one on ebay a little while ago!)

I love finding bits I didn't recognise first time round (or second or third time!)! :yippee:

Although the "red fire connector" looks as if it is from the fire theme, I don't think it is.  Rather, I think it was from the space theme which came out some years after the 1996 fire engines were released which were the first to use the water system.

The piece is also used with the farm water tanker in some sets.

One man's trash is another man's...er, actually that same man's treasure.

Inspired by this, I decided to sort through my own Junk Bag.  And I'm so glad that I did.  In amongst all the non-Playmobil, I found a missing part from a child's car, which is so happy, because it wasn't available from Parts.

Amusingly, I also found a bath rack ... and it is not many weeks since I bought a bathroom set, and was so pleased with the bath rack included in it.  Not knowing that I had one anyway.

I also found a whole lot of other Playmobil parts:

I have no idea what most of them are, or what sets they come from.  But it will be fun to try and find out.

I am glad to have inspired you, Raven! I find that the more I handle PM, the more I realise that the things I had previously discarded as not PM actually are!

You made some great finds there. Have fun identifying them! I will just identify one for you:
bottom left corner (black thing with a hole in the centre) is part of a dovecote!

  I would never have guessed!  Mine came ready-made!

Well, I'm sure it's always good to have a spare part.

So much to id.. but I think we need an "ordered pic"  :P

From the top of my head...

Top right are things from the OR tables - bases for the operating table and lights.

And the grey thing under then (and another more to the left) are parts of dish antennas.

Are those 8 small  "vertical rectangles" the curtains from the system X house? I'm missing those!  But I'm not sure - still not familiar with the darn thing.

Black thing with yellow wheels under the pink petals is part of a... those things to lift the cars? Like on the car shop, pit stops.

Wood boards are sides of a wagon (like the hay cart).

Yellow ramp over it from a skateboard thingamajig  - you know, sort of a bench with two ramps, to do tricks on.. (and possible end up on the OR - all related, see?  :P )

There's the roman standard (duh, right?)

The triangular bits are with the "rope" - I think there is one there, made to secure it... somehow.

And the bunch of brown things in the bottom are used to hang standards on the castle walls (the topmost one has the part that actually goes on the wall too). They are missing the part with pegs to secure the "flag" to these parts.

Flat grey part next is used under tractor trailers and such, to make them tip. And right next to it there's a white cover from the (victorian?) pram. Actually, I think the white thing under the boards is the mattress for the pram.

Bottom right, the blue square is part of a roman weapon, and the black bit goes into a steck wall (like the torch holders) to attach.. well.. whatever you like.

^  All that is very helpful; thank you.

I've been searching a bit for identifications (I've found that I have nine parts from a 4182 Orange Racer, despite having no Orange Racer to put them on!), but then I despaired over this:

I was beginning to think that it was a load of unrelated parts stuck together!

I didn't know!  :)

I'll continue trying to identify the rest tomorrow and then I'll post the remaining in What is This? .... in an orderly way!

I was beginning to think that it was a load of unrelated parts stuck together!

Those are VERY VERY VERY popular in red... since (almost) the beginning of times....

Oh, the light green thing next to the "car lifter" is part of a backpack, I think.

And the "triangle with handles" on top left is to attach a trailer to a car, I think.

The articulated grey arm is part of a space vehicle (from the 3080 time)..

The two metal grey things below the boards .. WHAT they are... well, your guess is as good as mine, but they are popular for astronauts and aliens to hold...

And the flat black part with a peg next to them is either a bike support or a door latch.

I've attached the photo with some numbers on as follows.

1. Axle holder from, amongst others, the 3880 fire engine

2. Spreaders for forcing open car doors and similar from the 3880 fire engine.

3. Astronaut's back pack, I think.

4. A spreader plate from the 3879 turntable ladder fire engine.

And some I've just noticed - top right corner, I'm sure the green and grey parts are from the operating theatre and the pale blue and silver rectangle is a set of scales.

Many thanks, tahra and playmofire!

I'm labeling all the identified parts with their part number, so I don't forget what something is.

There are actually four of them, because they are joined together in the middle.  It turns out that they are 'Window Frame Mounting Plates' (part number 30 20 0360), used for the window frames of the 3988 Large City House.  But I did find them by searching on the word 'curtains'!

Ah, at least they had to do with windows  :P

I meant these: curtains (link) (http://playmodb.org/cgi-bin/showpart.pl?partnum=30-22-1360).. My house brought ONE, I think..

The white circular piece with a hole in the centre is the basin from a fountain. part 30 20 8160
The blue piece bottom right is a rail from the 3820 merry go round
The long yellow piece lower centre is a bicycle stand which is found in the above merry go round set
The small black piece next to the pram mattress is part of a latch for a castle door part 30 08 4950

I recognise a lot... Are there still unidentified objects?

I have a fountain - it's funny how I can't recognise some things when they are taken apart! tahra previously identified a backpack part, and not only do I have a backpack using that part, but it was on the table right in front of me when I made the photos!

Oh, how wonderful!  A new bicycle stand!

(How unimaginative I am; I could have thought, 'I don't know what this is, but it would make a good bicycle stand' - but no, I never thought of that.)

Yes... there's still about 30 of them!  I'll post them in the 'What is this???' forum.
