Out of box
Front of building. My daughter pointed out that the front resembled a museum or a library. That's when I finally caved and bought the set.

I bought this because TRU was running a buy one take along set, get one 50% off. I reasoned that I could get this instead of the classroom add-on 7486. The classroom add-on, at $17, costs about half as much as this set does. However, the add-on doesn't include any klickies. It does have a map, but it looks like a map that was designed for a police station. The only major benefit to the add-on that I can see is that it does include a desk for the teacher.

Thanks for this lovely review. :)
Like the way you put in some "posing pics" !
-
Thank you for a great review :thanks:
I'd love to have this set to add to our existing school as an extra classroom, I also like the museum idea too.

Thanks conniefrere, skypurr, and Bill B.! I'm glad you all enjoyed my first review.

Woah, i love that two-sided shelf unit! :o Is that a new piece? And all the maps in this set are great! Ok, you've convinced me. I must have this set! It'll be my first take-along, but it's better than some of the past ones. I really like the front. Do the front doors stay securely closed and keep everything in? I guess you can just put all the pieces in the other room to avoid anything falling out.

The doors (factory attached) seem to be designed to only open inwardly. That should help prevent pieces from falling out. I don't know how well this will stand up to actual children! I think your idea about putting everything in the other side is right on the money. In fact, that's what I'll do!
As for the shelf, don't know if it's new, but here are some more pics.
Side one, with closed shelf

Thanks for the extra pics! That's a really great piece. I can use it for improvements to the gift shop!

Thanks for the review!
Sigh ... it's going to be a expensive year.

An excellent review of a beautiful set!!! Many set for all the pics and descriptions! I can't believe the level of detail on this one!! I mean for a take-along set the details are very carefuly done, and the use of stickers to indicate various object and thus save space, is really impressive! I think playmobil did a great work designing this!!
-
I really like the kids, especially the chinese boy...
(note to self: YOU WILL NOT GET A TAKE ALONG thing. And you do NOT need another school)

well don thake me wrong pls ilove this set bu the thing that is frustrating me is that us sets are like a normal toy but in pm look what i mean is that no windows instead they areprinted. everything comes esembled and ready. in trucks and so theres no compartments... i think its not fair. for if you buy pm you wuld expect a fuly pm item not an imitation like. pe youu understand my point. but still its a really nice set. if im not wrong theres a clinic\hospital similiar to this right?

Nice set, a real shame about that horrible window. it should have been a real one with clear plastic to avoid things getting out and lost... :(
-
Thanks for the review, Toyogolist!
love the asian boy and the african american girl!   If I don't get this set I'll get them separately. :)
and I think that North America map didn't come with the large school building because it wasn't a US exclusive like this one

Thanks for the comments everyone!

I agree about that window! Cheesy!

I would have been happy if the 4324 school had come with any map at all! It could have been a world map, or European. Well, at least the school came with a globe. That was nice.

oh so it doesn't come with any map at all? - that was weird for a school set indeed :eh?: :)

I love the globe, too! One of my favorite PM pieces.

I do agree with you to some extent ryan. Especially since many US buyers (parents, I mean) will go for these cheap sets, and have a poor impression of the quality of playmobil. But considering the number one complaint I hear from parents is how long it takes to put playmo sets together, maybe they will prefer these anyway. Some parents seem to prefer to throw a toy to their kid like you might throw a bone to a dog, and tell them go play, rather than spend time enjoying assembling the toy together.
-
Funny the main thing that attracted me to Playmobil was the tediousness of the assembly, now after about 2 years my son who is 6 insists on helping until his little fingers can't push.
We love opening the box and seeing all the tiny parts
The preassembled sets remind me of 80's Fisher Price toys :P
Loved those sets when I was a kid

Most parents have better things to do than put up with their brats.. better to throw them in front of the tv or computer.. and then whine that something they saw wasn't "appropriate"... when that's supposed to be THEIR job.
Besides, putting a set together is SUPPOSED to be part of the fun.. System X kinda ruined that... Putting 300 of those pieces in place is NOT fun, no matter how you look at it (can you tell I was traumatized with the assembly of the space station? :P )

Thank you very much for posting these pictures.
I would really like to buy this set!
The children all look great, the furniture and accessories... Even the building is one of the best take-alongs I've seen so far.
I agree that the window looks bad, but it's a take-along set after all: designed to be cheap and small. For a real building you can still buy the actual school.
I've never seen this in shops before, but I'll buy one as soon as I get the chance :)
-
This set is so perfect and so cheap!!It's a pity that it hasn't been released in Greece!
-
Actually it has and you can find it in the stores now.
-
Yes,it's true!And it's in a normal price,about 26 euros!
-
Did I miss it in Belgium ???
I've never seen it in the shelves...
-
Thank you for the review! The outside looks good, better than the take along house, I think. More Playmo-ish. :)
-
It would look so much better with a real window like the take along western set did.
