And we should probably test an image hosted on a different site.
Do you see this one?

Yes.

Thanks for confirming that, Gordon. :)
I've posted at Simple Machines forum, so we will just have to cross our fingers that someone over there has a solution. :-\

I've just noticed that each time you've had a problem viewing an image, (inserted into a post or otherwise) it has been located on a Playmo-Portal page.
I wonder if you need to adjust something in your firewall or some other settings in order for the Portal's pics to load.

The weird thing is you can see the TreeBeard pic which I inserted in one of my posts above, and that is hosted on the Portal's server. ???

Can you also see that photo on the Portal's page when you follow this link? (There's 6 pics in total on the page.)

No picures there for me.  I, too, have noticed that the problem seems to be largely if not entirely with playmo-portal, despite it being set up exactly as playmofriends as a trusted site.

Hi Gordon :)

I still don't undertand why you can't see the pics on the portal's own pages when everyone else here can. Sorry I don't have an answer for that, as yet. :(

Regarding the other issue where the inserted images become invisible to your browser when linked to a page outside PF, there has been a response at Simple Machines. :)

One of the Support Specialists there says that as the image is inside a URL tag, it's possible that your ad-blocking software believes it to be an ad and is blocking it because of this.

I guess the only way to test that theory is to turn off the ad-blocker, which may be something you are not keen on doing.

Hi Sylvia,

Yesterday when I turned off adblocker, it had no effect.  Today, when I did I could see the picture. I then put adblocker back on but now when I turn it off again, I can't see the picture! 8}

This could have something to do with cookies.

Because you've visited the same page so many times, your browser is probably retrieving the most recent version of the page from its cache (the one without the image) and it takes a little while for it to 'overwrite' this with the new version of the page.

What happens if you turn off the ad-blocker and then reload/refresh the page several times? Does it eventually give you the new version with the image?

I've just cleared the playmo-portal cookie and cleared Firefox's cache and taken off the adblocker.  However, a trial with andi's timetable for releases and the treebeard and can-can girl all drew blanks.

No problem, Sylvia.  It's nothing major from my point of view.  And many thanks for all your help.
