apparently playmobil's u.k. associate marx toys did more than just change the name to playpeople.  :hmm:
that also made some not-playmobil complements for the yes-playmobil sets.  :o
this one is an ambulance made of safe steel (whatever that is) and there is talk about a castle.

:P and finally, for a touch of class, the pirates castle.

 :woohoo:moustaches are having a come-back.

i know it because i decided to wear one for a while.
just got tired to have my 25 year-old-never-use-a-razor-cut-my-beard-once-a-week look misused by every politician or actor.
:) and also because my son finds it funny.

:hmm: maybe my diy thread was not that tech-distant...

Those aren't mustaches...those are clearly some sort of dogpeople.

And I'd guess "safe steel" means "no sharp edges that might slice up the tiny ones".

the company still exists - http://www.majorette.com/en/home/

in the 70s there was another playmobil look alike.
dulcop super charly.
by the number of their sets that keep appearing on the internet, i guess they were reasonably successful.
thay have a different design approach, with 3 axis moveable legs and arms. :hmm:

.. playmobil's u.k. associate marx toys...

The daughter of Marx Toys' former Managing Director joined Playmofriends a few years ago, but unfortunately did not remain active for very long and did not give us the benefit of her experiences of visits to the factory in Swansea. Tantalising!

Keep up the archive searching, cachalote, honorary curator of this interesting Museum!
At that moment the ship suddenly stopped rocking and swaying, the engine pitch settled down to a gentle hum. 'Hey Ford.' said Zaphod, 'that sounds good. Have you worked out the controls on this boat?' 'No,' said Ford, 'I just stopped fiddling with them.' (With thanks to Douglas Adams)

to be fair, a thread named "museum of not totally-playmobil" could also be created.  ;)
here's the sylvanian family beekeeper from 2013.
2 years later - exactly the time it takes to make a new set - playmobil launches its own (sort of) beekeeper: http://www.playmofriends.com/forum/index.php?topic=14955.10.
