Title: ALL THE PIRATE SHIPS PLAYMOBIL EVER MADE
Post by: cachalote on May 25, 2010, 00:54:02
flatcat, gustavo and playmo 1989 just made me remember of an unfinished answer to this question.
having recently finished my pirate / navy database i am now capable (i hope) to list all ships playmobil has ever made...

starting from the begining - the 3550 piratenschiff.
it has 4 "european" versions, all with the same contents:
- v1, 1978-1982/83
- v2, 1982/83-1984/85
- v3, 1984/85-1988/89
- v4, 1988/89-1990/91
it also has "foreign versions" (still with the same contents):
- the brazilian trol 23.55.0
- the greek lyra 3550
- the spanish famobil 3550
- the 1980 american schaper super deluxe pirate ship set 0104
- the 1988 american playmobil pirate ship 3050

then we have the 3750 piratenschiff.
it has 3 european versions:
- v1, 1990/91-1992/93
- v2, 1992/93-1997
- v3, 1997-1999 (different crew, different flags)
version 1 and 2 are the same, version 3 has a different crew and flags.
it also has 2 american versions:
- v1, 1990 (looking the same as european v1 and v2)
- v2, 1997 (looking the same as european v3)

just like the 3750 we have the brazilian estrela 30.10.30 (the same as european v1 and v2) and looking rather different we have the argentinian antex 13750 barco pirata.
this set is a mix between the 3550 (sails) and the 3750 (hull, etc.) with a very different crew from both of them.

now, for the first schooner.
the famous and rather rare (european) 3740 marine-schoner  available between 1991/92 and 1994.
it has an american twin, the 3055 schooner ship from 1992.
Title: Re: ALL THE SHIPS PLAYMOBIL EVER MADE
Post by: cachalote on May 25, 2010, 01:31:39
the second shooner is the 3860 schwarzer korsarensegler from 1997.
the same boat has several versions:
- the american twin corsair ship form the same year 3833;
- the spanish playmobil 3029 from 1999, adding one extra small island and 2 extra figures;
- the american 3029 target adventure set pirates from 1999 (with the same extras as the spanish 3029);
- the european karstadt exklusiv 4067 (with the same contents as both 3029s).

usng the same "dark schooner" playmobil america produced also the 5775 pirates' attack  set in 2007.
this set has a different drawing on its sails and comes with an extra small fortress and 2 soldiers.

(if someone has one to sell i am trying to get one for some time).

in 2000 the fantastic 3940 grosses piratenflaggschiff  appears (lasting until 2007).
it has an american twin, the 2001 3286 pirate ship.
Title: Re: ALL THE SHIPS PLAYMOBIL EVER MADE
Post by: cachalote on May 25, 2010, 01:53:34
next, the "red" corsair ship.
the first one to appear comes with a small extra island and 2 soldiers - it´s the american 3619 pirates special value set.
it has 2 versions, v1/2001 and v2/2003.
in 2003 the european twin appears, named the 3133 special edition 25 years pirates.
the same year sees the arrival of the "smaller" version 3174 in a special edition (the same crew and boat, no island, no soldiers).
in 2004 a twin of the "samller" 3174 is made: the american 5733.

in 2009 playmobil decided to re-launch this set in some european countries with a new number, the 3900 (why they did escapes my understanding).
apparently, stripped of its crew, there will be a 2010 direct service version, the 7581 roter korsarensegler.

Post by: cachalote on May 25, 2010, 01:56:38
looking more or less alike we still have another "red" corsair, the american 5869 red corsair  from 2009.
a new crew, new sails and new bits makes this more than a "simple" version.

in 2005 a new 3550/3750 sized ship, the 4424 piratenkaperschiff, lasting until 2006.
one year before (2004) it was launched in the us as the 5736 blackbeard’s pirate ship.
Title: Re: ALL THE SHIPS PLAYMOBIL EVER MADE
Post by: cachalote on May 25, 2010, 02:04:07
still in the same size, we have the american 5778 skull pirate ship  from 2006.
Title: Re: ALL THE SHIPS PLAYMOBIL EVER MADE
Post by: cachalote on May 25, 2010, 02:09:07
... and then the enormous european 4290 großes piraten-tarnschiff  in 2007.
it also has an american twin with the same number called the large pirate ship.
Title: Re: ALL THE PIRATE SHIPS PLAYMOBIL EVER MADE
Post by: cachalote on May 25, 2010, 02:13:08
the same year gave us the american (although i bought one in europe) 5810 pirate corsair, a schooner-sized vessel.
Title: Re: ALL THE PIRATE SHIPS PLAYMOBIL EVER MADE
Post by: cachalote on May 25, 2010, 02:21:52
finally, in 2008, the "little" brother, the 4444 kanonensegler.
it has an american twin, the 4444 pirate dinghy, born in the same year.

a "bigger" version, including an island, 2 soldier, a giant octopus, a shark, a different crew, different coloured hull and deck has recently seen the light in 2 versions:
- the german funpark and toys r'us 5009 piraten gefecht  (as rare as they come);
- the american 5881 pirates playset.
both these versions have the same contents.

one last word to mention the 2008 4806 geisterpiratenschiff.
as i don't like it i will say no more.

Thank you very much cachalote!  This is my new reference for ships, I have at least 5 or 6 and aside from the 4444's I really am not sure what I have, so now I can check and make sure they are complete. Thank you again for taking the time to do this.  :wow:

:wow: you are all most welcome.
:-[ i must confess i am a little jealous of flatcat - he has all the ships and i am still missing a few.
:hissyfit: i still have to get the antex 13750 and the american 5775 and 5869.
;D the 5881 is on the way across the atlantic, i hope.
:hmm: and the 4806 geisterpirat ship i decided i don't want.

anyway, this work couldn't have been done without playmobil official archive, collectobil, heather's playmodb and axel's collector books.
 :wow: my thanks to all.

Thank you for all your hard work.

Post by: cachalote on May 25, 2010, 16:51:28
thanks elaine.  :wow:

in an effort to consider the traditional view of the navy - that all boats should be considered "ships" regardless of their size, if they float and have some sort of autonomous propulsion (oars don't count) - i decided to include the smaller "brothers" in this listing.  :yup:

the first one is the european 3793 pirat/floß, a raft available between 1990/91 and 1991/92.
then we have the almost identical 3736 piratenfloß mit haifisch, with a red sail and an extra shark (1992-93 until 1995).
aa american DS version also exists, the 7198 pirate raft
Title: Re: ALL THE PIRATE SHIPS PLAYMOBIL EVER MADE
Post by: cachalote on May 25, 2010, 17:00:18
from 1996 to 1999 we have the smallest raft, the 3862 schiffbrüchiger mit hai.
it is also available in direkt service (without the castaway pirate and without the shark) as 7695.

after several year a new "red" raft appears in the us, the 5780 pirate raft  in 2006.

Thanks for all the research cachalote, i didn't realise there were that many sets. I might start buying some more  pirate sets now  I already have 3936, 3939 and 3940. The pirate klickies, furniture and equipment are really interchangeable with the medieval stuff and of course steck houses look cool as pirate taverns and inns.

That's an excellent and comprehensive list, cachalote!  Thank you!  I have a few of these and I'm glad of it.  I do, however, wish I had a few more.
Title: Re: ALL THE PIRATE SHIPS PLAYMOBIL EVER MADE
Post by: cachalote on May 29, 2010, 22:15:18
hello abbot,
when i decided to offer my klickies christmas gifts i realized that a lot of victorian parts are also very usable in the pirate world. and there is even a telescope from a fantasy set that can be wonderfully added.
it was a pleasure to be of service. :)

and hello justindo,
don't we all wish we had a few more ships. :'(

AND DON´T YOU ALL THINK THAT ALL THIS COULD BE THE MOMENT FOR PLAYMOBIL TO LAUNCH A NEW SHIP? 0)
this is actually the hidden objective behind this thread. :-[
;)ever since i realized that there could be some kind of connection between what we wish and what playmobil produces - i still think that the 4444 happened because i suggested it ( http://www.playmofriends.com/forum/index.php?topic=1262.msg14900#msg14900 ) - i would also like to convince playmobil that a new ship is essential.
a big 3940 mold used for a new royal navy ship is what i want.
and i don't want it in red and yellow, i want it in black with white squares - nelson's way.
and it would be filled with sailors and officers just like the royal navy schooner, and a few red-coats to help them in battles.
and string rigging again, and metal anchors, and all the holes in the hull with firing cannons.
and a lot of extras, food, furniture, animals...
and no silly gadgets like the ones that fill the 4290...
Title: Re: ALL THE PIRATE SHIPS PLAYMOBIL EVER MADE
Post by: Wolf Knight on May 29, 2010, 22:44:31
oh yes yes that would be lovely!!! A royal navy ship!!! i think i'll get a whole fleet of those if playmobil produces them!!!!

Now that would be a great idea!
I always loved the Marine Schooner over any pirate ship ...

Actually ... I came to think of it ...
There's actually one Pirate-ship missing from the list. I am in no way surprised that you forgot... but it does come under "all the pirate ships Playmobil ever made" ...
sooo - just to be complete, set 4331 has to be included as well:

it's the 5950 pirate ship.

a new set of american ships just got out.
the 5950 (in the previous post) is actually called skull and bones pirate ship   and it appears in the official playmobil.us page (so it's not a target exclusive).
... also, a smaller dingy was lauched - the 5948 soldiers' boat.

Thanks, I was wondering just that... I'm planning to do a custom "cabinet" (is that the word?), that will have to fit those plastic tubs.. and I was planning to put the boats (have no idea how many I have - must trim :( ) on the top shelf... I HATE the freakin ropes (and I'm lousy with them), so I don't want to disassemble them...

Do you know if the 3940 is much larger? I believe the roman, viking and egyptian ones aren't as large. Just don't know about the roman airgam one..

Edit: does that width include the assembled masts/sails?

i decided to add the new 5919.
wolf knight made a review of it - http://www.playmofriends.com/forum/index.php?topic=9033.0.
he called it the "soldiers fort and small pirate ship".
its origin is unknown - i got mine here in portugal and they seem to be available also in greece and mexico.
the hull is identical to the 4444.
