Title: 5586 Guesthouse (add-on to Luxury Villa 5574)
Post by: Birdie on August 05, 2014, 16:43:10
I've been gone for a while, and I thought I'd check out the toy store in Antwerp to see what's new.
Turns out they've already got some of the new sets from the City Life theme!  :yippee:

The actual Luxury Villa 5574 is not on the shelves yet, but the add-on Guesthouse and the pool are. I got both of them, but I passed on the 5585 'white convertible with pink seats and starlet plus tiny dog'  :)
There were also some of the new Special Plus sets. I got the electric guitar rock star and the diver with anchor. I'm super excited with all of the new treasure ;D

Here's a review of the Guesthouse 5586:

I'm not loving the pink, but I like the design of the house. For some reason they switched to a different type of tool for those red and yellow connectors. I do NOT like the new tool. The connectors get stuck in it! Luckily I have a gazillion of the old type tools lying around  :)

This is what was inside the box upon opening:

It took a while to put it all together, thanks to the wonderful system X connector fun. But it looks pretty neat!

Meet Sonia and Patrick, who will give you a tour around their new Guesthouse  8-)

This is Sonia. Sonia likes walking around the house in her underwear, because her dress makes it impossible to sit down. Who could blame her?

She has a skirt too, but it's a tad on the short side.

And this is Patrick, sporting a gold watch and sexy stubble, to match the luxurious Guesthouse look. I love these two!

The furniture is scarce, but if they sleep on the couch in shifts and are prepared to live on microwaved food, they'll be fine.

Sonia says the shower works:

And she is very happy with the new high chairs. Don't they look gorgeous?

Maybe this type of glasses has been in other reviews before, but they're new to me. I love the fact that they can be held by clickies. Cheers!

I don't like the fact that the microwave oven door doesn't have any 'glass'. Other ovens and dishwasher doors don't have that  problem.

This couch is glorious, I think (besides the pink cushions, obviously, but I've decided to accept the pinkishness since the house has that crazy popstar vibe and I imagine popstars might like a pink couch).

Does anybody know what this portable fireplace type thing is modelled after? Is this an actual piece of furniture?

The house and walls allow for different arrangements, but the corner table only fits in that one protruding corner spot. I fixed it with two spare roof pieces that came in the box, so that it can stand on its own.

I think those extra roof pieces might be needed if you want to combine this Guesthouse with the Villa.
The floor tiles for the shower are a sticker, but I cut them out of the sticker sheet so I can use it wherever I like.

- "I think so, Patrick. Although. Aren't we in desparate need of... a stylish pool and pond combo?"

I bought this at Bart Smit for €59,99, which is 3 euros more than what playmobil.de is charging.
I don't think it's too pricy. It's an entire house with so many new items... I absolutely love it  :)

Welcome back!  8-)

Thank you for the detailed review. I didn't know these were already available.

This is Sonia. Sonia likes walking around the house in her underwear, because her dress makes it impossible to sit down. Who could blame her?

:lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

(how true  ::) )

I think the guy looks like a russian mobster. The shirt, unshaven face and the watch = meh.  (I do like the shirt though, just not the combination)

I think it too expensive, because of the colors. Would be real nice if not for the pink and green on the building. The rest I could live with (or fix!). Apart from that, I think the building is actually nice.

I LOVE that small round table, have no idea why. And the cat, of course. I need to see that smallish skirt up close and personal. Seems to have potential. I also like the basin in the lavatory, and the lamps (the one that attaches to the wall and the "pixar" desk one).

I didn't notice those new glasses before either - very nice! And interesting fireplace.

The fact that the microwave is.. open.. is VERY VERY lame. I hadn't realized that.

And I'm glad I'm not the only one who didn't know about the new systemX tool!

There are some very nice items in that set.  I actually very much like the pink cushions for the couch.  And I love the toilet!

Orange books, ginger/red cat, wonderful drinking glasses, corner table - all very nice.  A microwave is so welcome; shame it doesn't have a 'glass' front, but it still looks good.  And a brown doorstep (instead of blue-ish) is great.  I like the guy's shirt and hair too.

And what a brilliant idea about cutting out from the sticker sheet.  I have a some (nice) stickers that I've never used because I don't want to tie down something to one place or to one function ... and I'd never thought of doing this!

The pink thing by the cat: is it a cat toy?

Thanks for the great review! I can't wait to get these sets. And what a great idea to keep the shower tiles portable, I will definitely be copying you on that.

That fireplace is modeled after gel or ethanol fireplaces, like this: http://www.woodlanddirect.com/Fireplace-Accessories/Ethanol-Gel-Fireplaces This particular one is very similar: http://www.woodlanddirect.com/Fireplace-Accessories/Ethanol-Decorative-Fireplaces/Nu-Flame-Ardore-Tabletop-Ethanol-Fireplace

Excellent review, Birdie!  Loved the way you had Sonia and Patrick show us around.  :)  I think it is interesting that the walls are hollow so to speak.  In a way I like that the shelves give places to put little things and in another it seems like a way to cut down on production costs.  The bath is pretty cool and the sofa shows a lot of versatility, although I am not a fan of the pink at all.  I like the base brown color very much and the lack of a real roof doesn't seem to detract from the overall house.  I like the bar the way you set it up, that was very clever.  Good job all around!

It looks like a great set. The pink does detract from it though. But aside from that its one of those things that makes me wish I had space and money to support the modern theme.

Thanks for an excellent revue, Birdie.

The way you've dealt with that corner eating unit is very clever.  Would you let me have the part numbers for the top and the roof pieces and for the stools as well, please?  (There are no plans for this set yet on the site and I am wanting to send an order in this week for parts.)

Thanks for the review!

I really like the bar stool type chairs, as well as the black couch, glasses and odd fireplace.

I'm currently in the UK for two weeks, and am disappointed only to have found things I can already get in North America.  I'd really wanted to bring the new pool and exercise room back with me. Alas, no.

For new release purposes, the UK is counted as part of the rest of the world.

Yeah, so I discovered, much to my disappointment.  :'(

I did find a small assortment of very random used klickies at a street market. Didn't really need any of them, but got enjoyment from simply finding them! (Playmobil in Canada doesn't seem to find its way to thrift stores very often.) I think I got about seven figures with assorted accessories for £2 .

Thanks for the review! The pink colour is irritating, otherwise, looks like a nice add-on. The furniture, especially the table, bar stools, and glasses are very nice touches.  :)

Thanks for reviewing this set for us! I like the details but the way that dress fits on Sonia does NOTHING for her figure.  :o

I think the guy looks like a russian mobster. The shirt, unshaven face and the watch = meh.  (I do like the shirt though, just not the combination)

That's what I love about him, he's so over the top  ;D

The pink thing by the cat: is it a cat toy?

Yes, it's a knot of wool. It's in other sets too, I think I have a light yellow one as well.

That fireplace is modeled after gel or ethanol fireplaces, like this: http://www.woodlanddirect.com/Fireplace-Accessories/Ethanol-Gel-Fireplaces This particular one is very similar: http://www.woodlanddirect.com/Fireplace-Accessories/Ethanol-Decorative-Fireplaces/Nu-Flame-Ardore-Tabletop-Ethanol-Fireplace

Aha, thanks! It looks cool, but it also looks like a house fire waiting to happen  :-\

I think it is interesting that the walls are hollow so to speak.  In a way I like that the shelves give places to put little things and in another it seems like a way to cut down on production costs.

That is a plus, but the problem is that the highest shelf is so narrow that hardly anything fits on there.

I like the base brown color very much and the lack of a real roof doesn't seem to detract from the overall house.

That's very true, and I just realized the building itself is very modular. I think there will be lots of options for stacking and re-arrangng. No System WHY?! this time!

Would you let me have the part numbers for the top and the roof pieces and for the stools as well, please?

Certainly, there is:

- the white frame for the stool: 30 22 4473
- the black seating for the stool: 30 22 4483

- protruding corner roof piece: 30 22 3553
- long straight roof piece: 30 22 3533
- short straight roof piece: 30 22 3523
- regular corner roof piece: 30 22 3543

Let me know if there are any other numbers you need.

I'd really wanted to bring the new pool and exercise room back with me. Alas, no.

Yeah, the exercise room is already available on the Belgian and German Playmobil website, but the store here did not have that set yet. It's on my wish list too

I like the details but the way that dress fits on Sonia does NOTHING for her figure.  :o

Quite right

At the Playmobil isle there were two Dutch girls (I think they were around 8 and 10 years old) who were very excited about all the new stuff. They totally loved the removable dresses.

And they spent quite some time groping the F?gure bags to find the ones they wanted - it's not just us!  ;D

Thanks for the part numbers for the stoolas, Birdie.

I'm sorry but I didn't make myself clear about some of the part numbers I wanted.  You used the counter piece/table top with some roof pieces so you could have a counter/table in the middle of the room.  I'd also like the numbers of the parts you used for that, please - the top and the roof parts its on.

Oh I get it  :-[

I used two of these to prop up the table top:

- short straight roof piece: 30 22 3523

And the part number for the orange table top itself, is:

- 30 22 5513

Mind you, it's a bit of a wobbly construction. I'm sure plenty of other stuff would work better to support the table top. I was just fooling around with the pieces that were available from the leftovers.

BTW, I wonder if the missing glass in the microwave is a fault and there should be one there as part of the front and it's missing in the set you bought.

Hmmm...

I don't think so, because the drawings in the leaflet also show a microwave door without any shine or blur that would suggest a glass screen. For comparison, the shower wall drawing looks like it's made of see-through plastic.
The picture on the Playmobil website isn't definitive either, but I think you can tell there's nothing there.

Let's hope I'm wrong  ::)

Thanks for the review it looks like it makes a fairly good sized guesthouse and as though it'll loook good in combination wiht therest oft he buildiing, there's certainly some nice modern furniture there like that coffee table and I like the way you laid it out. The figures look alright I think the short skirt has quite a ncie design at least they've given her two outfits to wear, th guy's also got a very interesting outfit I like the way Sonia was in the back of one of the photos of Patrick sort of leaning and looking like uh what are you doing is that a camera?  ;D, also like the ginger cat, those glasses and of course the plants.

Thank you for your detailed review. I really like how you have Sonia and Patrick give the tour. Do most of your Klickys have names?

I like how you rearranged the kitchen counter to give the area more space. I do wish the couch flipped out to a bed. And I love Patrick's watch.

When I played with them as a kid, certainly. There were seven families in different homes, each with a bunch of kids (most houses were made out of cardboard at the time, but they've all been upgraded to proper villas by now!).

Now I don't do stories, or characters, but I do have favourites. And I still know the old ones by name  :)

Indigo in Canada has this set on sale now for $21.00.

This is only IN-STORE at the KIOSK.  The online price is still $85.

I just noticed it today while in the store (yes, I ordered 2).
