Pegacorn?
« on: August 12, 2021, 03:13:52 »
Hi all. just want to get some community consensus on what to call the Pegasus with a unicorn horn in the Ayuma set 70800 - Magical Energy Source

I am thinking Pegacorn.
 Unigus?
Pegaunicorn?

Your thoughts? Such a thing didn't exist in Classic Mythology right?

One term in use for a cross between a pegasus and a unicorn is "unisus" - not very interesting, IMHO.  I much prefer your suggestion of "Pegacorn"   :)

I would say Pegacorn, but Winged Unicorn may be the simplest description.

Point.

But Pegacorn has a really interesting ring to it :)

Thanks for the comments so far, and thanks for that link Raven. This instance is definitely a winged horse with a horn added on and doesn't look much different from the regular adult pegasus.

I asked my nieces this a few years ago.

And they informed me that ALICORN was the correct term.

Pterripus rhinoceros, based partly on that Wikipedia article?
At that moment the ship suddenly stopped rocking and swaying, the engine pitch settled down to a gentle hum. 'Hey Ford.' said Zaphod, 'that sounds good. Have you worked out the controls on this boat?' 'No,' said Ford, 'I just stopped fiddling with them.' (With thanks to Douglas Adams)
