Title: New board for train discussion
Post by: Sylvia on December 10, 2005, 18:20:24
Pretty soon we can start agitating for a trains forum...  ;D

Do you want to start a poll or shall I do the honours? ;D

Seriously, if you think there'll be enough interest to support a separate board for that topic, I can easily create a child board for it. :)

A child board is like a sub-board which sits within another one, like "Testing Ground", for anyone who's not sure what I mean.

I couldn't find an appropriate board for train discussion to go under as a child board, so I created a completely separate one and moved this topic into it.  ;)

The name isn't very inspired, so if you have suggestions for a better one, please say so. :)

Cool.  8-) I guess we'll see if there are enough posts to warrant it's inclusion.

I see Richard has already got it off to a great start. :*)

I split his posts and the ones that followed about layouts and made a new topic in this board so no-one will miss them when searching by post titles at a later date. ;)

Hi Richard!

I really did go searching for playmo trains today, but my shop either didn't have any, or it was so crowded, I just wasn't seeing it.

Just as well, the little guy is getting LOTS of blue boxes for Christmas.

Hello, Mal ...

As you probably already know, unless you want Playmobil's RC, you won't find any more electric trains from Playmobil.

You might want to look at LGB's Toy Trains (http://www.lgboa.com/) for your locos and use Playmobil for your rolling stock.

DH decided if we got Playmobil, then we'd want the RC trains ... BUT after much flip-flopping, I finally decided on non-Playmo trains.  The plan is to have an all-year-round garden train, and it would break my heart to see the Playmo trains get weather damaged.

So, as a last minute suprise, I bought a g-scale Christmas train for DH and the little guy.  I'll sneak into the little guy's room and set the train up on Christmas Eve, hopefully going 'round the Santa's Castle if I get enough time to complete it.  We have X10, so I'll put it on a timer to start up at an appropriate time on Christmas morning.

"Hi.  My name is Mal.  I'm a Christmas-aholic"  <*)

That moving train must be one the best uses I've seen of the "marquee" tag, Richard. ;D
Ranks up there with the parading birthday belly dancers. ;)

 That's why you don't want DH coming to help you set up your trains ... if it can be over-engineered, he'll do it  ;D

We have a saying at work, "Are you crazy? Don't ask him, he'll tell you!!" ;)  :P  Luckily, he's pretty good-natured about it.  ;D

My Husband has a similar quality.

You should see the setup for the chameleon.
But, it does make the lizard easy to care for.

Richard, your train is wonderful.  But where is the caboose?
