Title: Greetings from New Mexico
Post by: Serenity on November 10, 2005, 15:33:13
Hello from sunny and dry New Mexico!

I started playing with playmo when the first Blackbeard's Ship came out and I bought it for my little boy.  I was instantly hooked, and expanded our pirate collection.  That seemed to naturally morph into castles, Steck only (that, and the little guy's room is painted to look like a castle room).  Of course, then I just had to have some of the magic/fantasy pieces, but not too much of the girly pink stuff ... hmmmmm. someone recently accused me of being a 'tomboy', I guess he wasn't wrong  :-[   ;D

As for me and mine, I work in the 'back room' of a travel agency, messing with the computers, and managing/creating all of the advertising.  My husband works for the same company, managing our network throughout the 6 states we're in.  The little guy is soon to be four, and is just now noticing that his playmo 'guys' are missing the smallish parts  :hmm:   Christmas is going to feature a LOT of blue boxes this year.  I'm also planning on building a castle and decorating it for him as a suprise for Christmas morning.

I love to read and I love movies, even if we have to rent most of the time.  Most recently we saw 'Serenity', a cult-ish type film. so I won't be suprised if you haven't heard of it, much less seen it (coming to DVD in December).  I made, and am working on, customs of the characters from that show, check 'em out in the Customs forum.  Be gentle, they're my first really painted customs  :-[  ;D

I'm looking forward to meeting everyone!

Yep, we call it our Space Cowboys show.

BTW, saw 'Buffy' in 'The Grudge' ... why I even bother to watch horror movies is beyond me.  I've had nightmares for 3 nights now (I think it's the weird anime-ish look).

She's not "Buffy" in "The Grudge"...just as Mal is no longer Caleb.  ;)  :P

Sounds good to me  ;D

I just call her "Buffy" 'cause that's the first name that comes to mind when I see her ... it's going to be embarrassing if she and her hubby come out to Albuquerque for a visit and I see them  :lol:

I want to say they've been married about a year ... but they were together for the original Scooby Doo movie, because he "talked her into it" by leaving the script out where she could see it.

Margarita MIX?  Blasphemy! ;)

SF='Sugar Free'???  I haven't tried making a marg without sugar, but I bet Splenda would work (I make mojitos with Splenda).  A marg is made with tequila, fresh lime juice, sugar (or Splenda), and a touch of Triple Sec.

OK Peaceful one, you shall make the margaritas with splenda.
(I wonder if there is a SF Lime juice ??? )

What is in a Mojito?

Post by: Serenity on November 11, 2005, 19:39:48
As for SF lime juice ... I presume you mean limeade?  Lime juice is so good for slowing down sugar into your blood stream, I don't think you need to worry about trace amounts of natural sugars in it.

Mojitos ... okay, let see if I can remember this just right:

<in a highball>
1 shot of white rum
1 sprig of mint, chopped
<mull with a spoon>
2 tablespoons Splenda
Juice of 4 limes (or 2 lemons)
<stir>
fill with ice
fill with club soda
<stir>
garnish with a sprig of mint

fizzy minty rum YUMMY 8}

why is is called white rum?  OK, no color, but is havent noticed a taste difference 8}

I haven't noticed a taste difference either.  I think it's an aesthetic thing.  I make chocolate martinies with vodka and creme de cacao, and for some reason, the 'white' tastes better than the dark.  I think the taste difference is just in my mind, but there it is. ;)

Yeah, mojitos are great (you can also make them with lemon, so I revised the recipe).  I make them without the rum in the summer, just because they're so refreshing.  Otherwise, I'd never get any work done ;)

 Thanks for the intro and cocktail recipes Serenity; I´ve learnt from both.
Who would dare call you a tomboy?? Why, we can all see, you`re a space cowgirl with a cocktail shaker :D :lol: ;D.

 Thanks for your help in making this site possible.

 Although I love the old castles I bought the new Dragon`s Castle and, to tell the truth, I really love it too:

:wave: Hi Richard, and Welcome!!

Aside from Playmo, I'm going to have to pick your brains on vegetarian recipes!  My niece is vegetarian, and I'm constantly on the lookout for tasty recipes for her, especially since we're all together so much during the holidays.  Besides, I like to have vegetarian meals for my family at least twice a week.  ;D

I'm looking forward to hearing more from you  :)

Hello, Serenity ...

Thank you for your very nice welcome. Since you were already here before me, it's difficult for me to welcome you ... :lol:

But, I can say hello ... So, hello, Serenity!

I have spent a lot of time in Albuquerque, Santa Fe, and Farmington.

I am very happy to give you some vegetarian recipes. However, I must warn you ... I eat out a lot ... ;)

Thanks again for your warm welcome and all the best,
Richard

Wow, Richard, you've gotten around NM!  We have offices in Farmington (and Durango), and used to in Santa Fe.  Most people don't know of Farmington.

As for 'eating out a lot', your vegetarian recipes will probably be perfect for my niece ... she doesn't know much about cooking  ;) :P ;D

Now that I am here, just wanted to say Hi! and thanks for all your hard work getting this forum up and running.

NM is a lovely place to be - I have not had the pleasure of staying long, but on a cross-country driving expedition some years ago I crossed the southwest corner of the state, driving from El Paso west on I-10, and I thought it was beautiful, especially seeing the sun rise behind me shortly after passing Las Cruces.

(BTW, I love your screenname, and the Zoe custom is fantastic! Great job!)
