Hi everyone,
Here are some pictures of the glass dome I have in the living room. I try to change it regularly. It just makes me happy to have something playful in the living room ;)
-
Those look great, that's a great way to do seasonal themes. I have a couple of apothecary jars I use in the winter, need to get some moss stuff to use them in the summer as well.
-
Those are beautiful, and a great way to always display a small dio
-
I absolutely love the idea of displaying Playmobil sets under glass dome displays (bell jars?). Very cute concept with a lot of possibilities!
-
Such a lovely idea to exhibit your favourite figures and accessories
I would not mind at all putting one these on a coffee table as they would undoubtedly be a topic of conversation and curiosity since Playmobil is a brand that speaks to everyone.
I love the way you set up these little beauties :)
-
Thank you. It is really fun to plan and make the new displays.
As I don’t have a lot of playmobil I struggle to add some height to the displays.
The next one I want to make is either “feeding the ducks” or “walking the dog with grandpa and grandma”. I just don’t have any ducks or grandparents yet ;)
-
These are great. It reminds me of a set up they had in my preschool. I remember looking at the classroom display every day. The connection of playing with playmobil at home and seeing the display at school absolutely blew my mind... very cool idea for dioramas in the household!
-
What a great idea Elise! If you wanted to fill the height, could you get a tree in there?
Steve.
-
Thanks. I think you can, but it would depend on the tree. My dome is 20 cm in diameter and the height is 30 cm. It would be best if the tree can be placed in the back and not in the middle.
Im gonna try of i can get a smaller tree on a rock in there.
Let me know if anyone is gonna try out the “glass dome diorama”. Looking forward to seeing it :)
-
It's a lovely way to display one's Playmobil – thanks for sharing!
-
Received my beautiful Torii gate, so it was time to change my glass dome again. I bought a secondhand Asian zoo set (4852) especially for the Torii… :-[
November B.C. (Before COVID :P) we went to Japan with our 6 month old son. It was a great trip and I’m really looking forward to being able to travel again. For now I’m going to enjoy my new mini diorama :)
-
Looks great! I love that gate piece. The bamboo fence with that set is wonderful too.

Thanks. I agree, the bamboo fence is also really nice. Too bad you can’t order the spare parts.
-
I played around a bit with everything Japanese that I have. I gave the sushi chef a bigger knife and my boy is getting sword lessons from a real samurai. 8-)
-
At the playground ;D
-
I like how these capture the sense that you can just do little "sketches" with PM, you don't need an elaborate diorama or fancy background. A couple klickies can say volumes!
-
I love these!
Beautiful simplicity.
-
Thank you both! I really like this one too.
My 2 yo son S has discovered the new playground setup this morning and he instantly recognized mom, dad, himself and his baby sister N. Of course he wanted to play with it (I’m nurturing a second playmobil fan in the family).
One of the first things he said was: “there are no lounge chairs on the playground” and “N is crying, mom has to sit on the chair with N”. Well, I stand corrected.
-
Zombie resurrection. I ordered some tomb stones and a coffin for my zombies ;D
-
Brilliant - thought you'd have saved it for Halloween?
Steve.
-
The tombstones are perfect with it.
-
Thank you both! ;D

I received my spare parts order with the tombstones, so I couldn’t wait :P
But here is one more season appropriate.
-
I guess your seasons are being better behaved than here (Netherlands). My fingers turned white in the cold air this morning....
But it looks so beautiful, the way it is all arranged. And I guess it is your family again?
-
No, just hopeful thinking. Lots of rain today in Leiden.
Yes, it’s my family again. My son loves to see the family in action. Only dad does not have a tan 8-)
-
Summer is definitely over, time for an update ;D
-
Really cute, love it :)
-
Very nice! your seasonal updates are great. I have a couple of the apothecary jars but they have the fake snow in them from Christmas and I am so afraid of the hassle of trying to clean that stuff out that I just leave it there instead of changing seasons. Maybe should get it done and then use cotton instead of the fake snow so I can more easily swap out the contents.
-
Thanks!
Let us know when you've conquered the snow ;)
-
Happy Halloween!!
-
That's great, it would make a nice promo for a store too.
-
Thats looks great, Happy Halloween >:D
-
A bit late for Christmas, but as it is not yet Three Kings’ day I figured that it’s still ok to post pictures of my nativity scene. ;)
The 3 kings have not yet arrived, so they are still under the glass dome. It’s a tight fit with the 3 (dromedary) camels. But I figured most kings wouldn’t share a camel…
I got a secondhand set of camels (4247) and ordered a saddle blanket, saddle and bridle from the spare parts service. The blue saddle blanket from set 9497 is beautiful, so I think I’m going to order a second one.
As it is always good to make plans for more playmobil, I was thinking about some more sheep for the shepherd and perhaps a little boy shepherd, but i would have to search for a boy with the right clothes.
I'm curious if anyone else has put up the nativity scene ;D
-
These scenes are delightful :inlove:
Not just your recent one, but I love this thread with regular updates!
I didn't realise there were Playmobil coffins and tombstones (clearly, I am not up-to-date). I neeeeed some for my Western town!
-
Ha! Great display Eplay! Those Wise Men look a bit puzzled as to how they are going to get out of the dome in order to pay homage!
-
Thank you ;D

The coffin is from the Take Along Haunted House (9312) and the tomb stones are from the scooby doo cemetery (70362). The scooby doo series has a lot of good Halloween parts and also nice furniture

My son has been asking to play with the kings and the camels, so he will be their savior on January 6

They're in there thinking "we're wise, not clever!" :rudy:

Oh thank you for the set numbers, I'll be sure to look into those :yup:
-
The CliniClowns have invaded the pediatric ward ;D
-
Another cracker!
-
So cute! :inlove:
-
Thank you both!
-
The kid in the back looks like he's holding a gun :captain:
-
I had to check twice to see who was in the incubator
-
The kid in the back looks like he's holding a gun :captain:
He’s conducting the musicians with a crutch ;)
But yes, he could also be a clown bank robber who is holding the pediatric ward hostage 8}
-
Snowball fight ;D
-
Great!
-
I really love your mini dioramas
-
Thank you ;D
-
This is such a cute idea! Now I want a dome . . .
-
Same!
-
Walking and playing in the forest
-
Nice! :elf:
-
We had a couple of birthdays the past 2 months.
-
I love these mini dioramas under a glass dome
What a great idea
-
That's a nice display, Eplay. Those plastic gift boxes/parcels are so much better than the card versions.
-
Thank you!
Those cardboard gift boxes are a bit flimsy to play with. These come in really nice colours too.
-
Updated the scene with some forest playmobil I recently bought second hand. I really like the boar.
S really likes the piglets. Mom and dad are a bit scared as you can see ;)
-
-
I would be up there with them. There are Wild Boar near us (Forest of Dean). I always give them a wide berth, especially sows with piglets, they can turn nasty. Mind you I have never climbed a tree to avoid them!

Every year we go on holiday to the Black Forest (Schwarzwald) in Germany. I’ve often seen the tracks of the wild boar or one of their mud baths, but I’ve never seen a real wild wild boar.
S wanted the whole family in the dome but there was not enough space on the ground. He had a blast when I put mom and dad in the tree
-
It's a great diorama, lateral thinking helped!
I think Boar are quite nocturnal. Late evening seems a good time to see them.
-
Thanks!
-
Still not afraid of the wild animals ;D
-
Those seem harmless enough. They had best watch out though. There might be a bear in the next glass dome over.
-
This is so cute ! I love it
-
Really liked your glass dome dioramas, well done and keep them coming, please!
-
Two wonderful wildlife scenes! I love the parents in the trees. Great use of the vertical space!
-
Thank you all!
-
We had a heat wave this week, so we bought some ice cream
-
Great!
-
This is so cute Elise
-
Playing soccer ;D
-
Great use of the pieces to fill the space, nicely done!
-
Another cracker!
-
I'm so enjoying this thread, the displays you're making in your dome are beautiful & interesting to see what you can do in the limitations of such a small space. It's a kind of Klicky haiku!
Especially enjoyed the gardening, zombie, beach, old couple, Halloween, 3 Wise men, snow day, & forest scenes.
-
Thank you! I like the klicky haiku comparison ;D
The ones I like best are those with some height in them but those are also more difficult to do because the larger pieces take up more floor space.
The old couple is one that works for me. just a few pieces, but it tells a story.

They're lovely & unique little vignettes. It's interesting to think about how you could use the vertical space.. have you thought about adding a coloured film & creating the illusion of part of the dome being under water? or a glass column to give the illusion of something or someone floating within the dome?
I'll look forward to seeing what else you make.
-
I haven’t thought about that yet. Those are great ideas. The water idea would be easiest
-
It was time for a new scene
-
That looks like a very tranquil scene. :)
-
Thanks :D
-
It’s autumn so the birds can use some extra feeding
-
I love these scenes and the concept of being able to display the most cherished items of of our collection for everyone to enjoy, starting with ourselves, I would not mind doing a Victorian mini scene in the years to come and display the glass dome casually in my living room as it would most certainly be a talking point since almost everyone can relate to Playmobil one way or another
-
That’s lovely to hear.
I would say: just do it ;D ;D ;D
-
I'm so happy to see you've kept this up! :inlove:
Very well chosen pieces, I love every single one
-
Thanks Birdie
-
Sinterklaas has arrived in the Netherlands
-
How well does the baby stay in place?
-
She’s not very stable. But Sinterklaas is holding on tightly.
-
We celebrated Sinterklaas yesterday so today we removed all the Sinterklaas decorations.
Now it’s time for… Santa
-
It’s actually part of a larger display. I finally came around to assembling the Santa house I bought for myself last year. Some smaller parts are in the advent calendar together with some cards with fun thing to do together (buying a Christmas tree, making Christmas cards. Drinking hot chocolate).
-
Great scene!
-
Thanks
-
Santa is back to the North Pole. The children are playing with their presents while mom and dad are having a cup of tea.
-
These are all so cute
(I know it's been a while but I needed to let you know ;D)
Will you do something for spring?
-
The simple design of that rocking horse is one of the things that makes playmobil such a great product. Great scene too.

Thanks again
We have 3 birthdays in spring so there’s some party related stuff in it. Will post some soon.
I like the rocking horse too. I believe ther is a zebra version too
-
Thanks again

Looking forward to it :) And happy birthday to your loved-ones
-
Had some time to update the dome again. The family is going camping. The little ones are making some new friends.
-
Magic!
-
Such a sweet scene
-
Thanks!!
This is my Halloween display this year.
-
Beautiful scene perfect for Halloween
-
Thanks!
-
Great display! :)
-
Oooh those animals, nice details! ;D
-
It’s almost the 5th of December, and last week Sinterklaas arrived with his steamboat in the Netherlands. Our children already left a shoe with a carrot next to the fake fireplace. They sang songs and found a small present in their shoes the next morning. This gave me the idea for a new mini diaroma.
-
Super cute
My kids also found some sweets in their shoe a couple of days ago ;D
-
Great scene!
-
Ordered 2 sets of the bear on ski’s 1001 on sale before it’s replaced by the new ski set 71453. (I like the brown bear and penguin gate better than the new blueish bear).
I added it to my winter box for the kids to play with. They really liked the addition. (2 kids & 2 bears = less fighting). The curling set 6560 is on my wish list, but was too late to order it when it was sold.
And of course I made a new scene in my glass dome. It’s a simple one, but I think it works.
-
Super cute
-
Thanks!
