Playmobil 5094 THWAfter I saw Playmobil THW items at
Galeria (= German department store) in Essen, I imported one of the Playmobil THW sets at the website of Amazon. Sadly, the online store of Galeria does not ship to The Netherlands.
THW, or in proper German “Technisches Hilfswerk”, is a civil protection organisation controlled by the German federal government. 99% of its 83,625 members (2014) are volunteers.
You can learn more of this organisation at this site of Wikipedia. THW is an inspiring organisation assisting police, health care and fire departments in case of an serious emergency. Their equipment is coloured dark blue, and although they use army equipment, they might only use it for civil tasks.
THW in action during a flood disaster. The truck is obvious an army truck, but THW may only use it for civil tasks. But these trucks are far better for off-road conditions then the trucks of the fire department. My choice fell on Plymobil set 5094. It consists of a Smart-look-alike car, A brave man and boy, and some accessories. Only a few parts have to be assembled before you can play with it, like the blink light on the roof of the car and the fire extinguisher. The only stickers you have to apply are the number plates.
Playmobil 5094, complete with THW crew.In the tiny boot of the car there is enough room for a box with equipment (ax, walkie-talkie, flashlight, stop sign) and a fire extinguisher. But the megaphone has to find a place in front.
The accessories that completes this set.A little bonus, at least for me, this car fits into the middle wagon (Playmobil 4019) of the Playmobil RCE.Although the set is not mentioned in the Playmobil catalogue or at the Playmobil website,
the instructions are available at the German website. Talked enough, the crew is capable to help at any accident. THW to the rescue !!!
