Hi Dan,

Here are more photos...The prop is laminated as you can see.  I removed the engine for a clear picture of it.  Also here is a picture from the aft end.  The funny looking dude is Porco Rosso, the pilot of the plane.

Ciao!

Jimbo

I must say that I like your plane more and more!
It's really beautiful!

Many thanks for these additional pictures, Jimbo.  You have a wonderful attention to detail, from the correctly laminated prop to the very Italian looking pilot.

OK, Gordon, that does it !!! ... :(

As an Italian and a former flying boat pilot for the US Coast Guard, I think that this has gone far enough !!!

Italian pilots are handsome, dashing fellows ... ;)
They do NOT look anything like Mr. Bowell's porker mutant !!! ...

I just felt that I needed to clear this up once and for all !!!

I like the seaplane, Jim ... But "Porco Rosso" Hmmm ... :hmm:

All the best,
Richard

Sorry Richard.  It's only when looking closer that I noticed the nose - I had been basing my comment on the natty linen suit, the dashing sunglasses and the luxuriant moustache. :)

No apology necessary, Gordon ... :)

I didn't notice the nose at first. But, as we all know Italian noses are usually quite difficult to miss, so I was startled to see something that I was not expecting ...

However, I am interested to read Mr. Bowell's explanation ... ;)

All the best my friend,
Richard

Richard, Gordon, and all...
The  movie, PORCO ROSSO, (a Japanese animated adventure) is a story about an Italian flyer that was cursed somehow into looking like a pig.  After many daring good deeds with his faithful flying boat he got his good looks back, as well as his childhood sweetheart, and lived happily ever after!

I couldn't find a suitable picture of the animated Porco to send.

Hello, James ...

Hmmm ... :hmm: Swiss Italian ... Well that explains everything ...
My grandfather was Swiss Italian. He was from Locarno!

How about a "happy sequel" to your fabulous Flying Boat custom? I don't know about everyone else, but I would love to see the handsome, dashing Signore Rosso flying away in his splendid seaplane with his beautiful childhood sweetheart! (Sorry, I'm an incurable romantic ... It must come from my grandmother who was from Napoli !!!) ... :)

Thanks for your reply, Jimbo !!!

All the best,
Richard

Former police officer... former flying boat pilot... is there any job you haven't done, Richard? ;D

I love the Porco Rosso custom! Made me laugh out loud when I saw it.

I've never heard of the story so I googled it and found this illustration. :)

Click the pic!

The seaplane looks fantastic too.
Thanks for the close ups of the propeller and other parts. Great stuff, Jimbo! :)9
