Vancouver Train Show Pics
« on: December 08, 2005, 04:35:15 »
This was brought up subtly(??) by Richard in my intro thread so I will post it here. I have a hidden page on my site where I posted the pictures from my visit to the GATS Train Show in Vancouver WA to see the train layout made by Glazz74 (known from PB). It includes our friend Rona (from PB and Grophland) as well. The entire layout is Playmobil with Playmo trains.
I had been interested in Playmo trains before the show (having done HO scale years ago) but it settled me into full blown obsession for them. I will be producing train threads in the future I am sure. So without further ado (I wonder how may of these parenthesis comments I can get into one post anyway?) here is the link: http://www.animobil.info/trains/GATS/index.html

Tim,
That show looks wonderful.
And you only showed us one display, albeit the Playmobile display.

It looks like you had a nice time.
I think riding around the track must have been the most fun of all.  :D

The train bug is a serious disease.
I am sorry you have come down with it.
It means there is more competition for me.
(Although, I am trying very hard not to collect any more trains)

Thanks for showing us those, Robbie.  They really are great - something to go back to and study for ideas to pinch!

Thanks, Tim ...

Great photos of a great display! This Playmobil train layout must have been the most popular attraction at the GATS train show!

We need to encourage more Playmobil train fans and collectors to join us here at Playmofriends. If there were enough of us, we might even be able to talk Sylvia into creating a Playmobil train forum ... ;)

Like many Playmobil train nuts, I have added a lot of LGB to my collection. As you know (and probably also appreciate), Playmobil used LGB track which is still available for us to continue to build our railroad empires.

Thanks again for your fabulous fotos!

All the best,
Richard

Waaaah! He has a Riverdale station!! That's the most wanted item on my Playmo train shopping list!  :'( But that is a truly huge display with a lot of nice sets. Congratulations to Glazz74!

Is the GATS about all scales or is it specialised in big trains? I guess Playmobil is not the usual supplier of train layouts there...

GATS are a traveling train show - they have a mix of dealers and local layouts in all the scales. There was one other G scale set up as a temporary outdoors. There were perhaps 4 HO scale - some quite big, only one N scale, One O scale,  and 5 Z scale at this show. It varies from show to show and location.

Hello, Tim ...

When is the next Vancouver train show? Are you going to attend and take some more pictures?

All the best,
Richard

Hi Richard, that's actually a question for Glazz - it will depend on his show schedule. The layout from this show is the same as what he will be showing in the Lynden show in early October. Plus or minus any changes he has made over the last year.
