30 64 5030 Scroll (Barbarian Ruin) - what's written on it?!
« on: February 06, 2008, 07:54:20 »
Anyone care to read and interpret?  I'm (and kids) curious as to what the old Castle Defenders have to say to the Barbarians ...  ;D

Wow, good question!  The instructions, both paper and on the parts-ordering page at playmobil.de ( http://www.playmobil.de/on/demandware.store/Sites-DE-Site/de_DE/Product-Spareparts?pid=4435 ) show it as blank, but I can see from the box-back photo that it isn't, and parts with "6" as the third digit are always painted or in several sections.  If a clear photo were to be posted, I could put it on the part page.

I would go for gibberish... :)

No sooner scanned than done.
30 64 5030 - Scroll, unrolled, with tag

(I've just put in a new part page that shows all existing pictures for a part: hover over the thumbnails to enlarge, or if that doesn't work, click on the thumbnail.)

Looks like gibberish to me!

Hello, Heather ...

Looks like gibberish to me!

Gibberish ... ???

Don't let these illiterate bumpkins lead you astray.

Certainly "hamburger" should have been enough to make you realize their ignorance of this ancient tongue ... ;)

The first line is: Od grullos se od neurve (and I'm sure that we all know what THAT means)!

The second line is quite easy: Imgrunt ondornshere de morsmod ihre princess (interesting how some words found their way into the English language)!

The third line has one misspelling, which could be coloquial: Losude noortgirunrt ibtene (sic) marswourt (I'm sure that by now everyone has figured out this very famous message) ...

For those of you who are a bit slow, the signature will surely give it away!

The signature is simply: Baubsmeister

OK ... For those of you who, for whatever reason, are still unable to translate this message ... It is something that every woman knows and few men are stupid enough to question.

The "loose" translation is:
"Every woman is a princess and deserves to receive whatever she wants."

It is signed "Husband' (Lord and Master) ...

All the best to everyone,
Richard

I think my husband needs one of these scrolls as a daily reminder. :P

Hmm... maybe I should blow it up to life-size and print it out. ;D

That's the only reason that I knew what it meant, Sylvia!

Susan has framed and hung several of them throughout our home ... ;)
(Since ALL women seem to know the same things, I need not tell you specifically where she has hung them.) ...

All the best,
Richard

Even better, I fell for it and toasted about 10 minutes trying to verify the translation in Babel-Fish....
