That's great! I especially like the simplicity of the ground layer with just three colours. Often, PM diorama creators aim for realistic terrain, using sand, rocks, twigs, etc. But the toys themselves are simplified 'abstractions' of the real world, so the non-PM scenery can be simple too.

Exactly!

I am guilty of the "sand" - my beach dio used sand. But you are essentially right. Like over complex paint jobs (with rust and what not) sometimes seem quite out of place with the klickys very basic primary colors...

Thank you so much for your comments.
I really like how it turned out with just the 3 colours too. But it was more a “this is what I have available” than a “I have thought and hard about it” kinda thing.

I think it also depends on the type of diorama. With a city diorama I really like it when there are nice roads etc.

Lots going on at your beach- it's great!  Loved the connection between the PM bases and your landscape; really brings it all together.
Even the trees remind me of a favourite beach holiday!

Only seeing this now (I also little kids so you may forgive me  ;D), but I still wanted to respond because it's sooo cute

I agree the paper you used works really well with the bright colours of the different sets and figures. And the 'cameo' with your family, heehee  :D

Hope to see more from you soon!

Thank you Birdie. The enchanted Forrest is one of my favorite dioramas.
For now there will only be some small displays. It’s difficult with the kids as I don’t want to make a room off limits.

I love it, and second this take:

That's great! I especially like the simplicity of the ground layer with just three colours. Often, PM diorama creators aim for realistic terrain, using sand, rocks, twigs, etc. But the toys themselves are simplified 'abstractions' of the real world, so the non-PM scenery can be simple too. That's given me real food for thought, thanks Eplay!

Also, thanks for the Pinterest links! ;)
