Easy build, nice truck with realistic ratios.

The truck is quite nice and useful in duplicates as it’s not so customized to the franchise . I was able to get the tire tread directions correct . I doubt I’ll add the tailgate “PLAYMOBIL” decal

The other decals are quite small so I need to find a pin or tweezers to apply

One thing I found nice is they added a Playmobil Back to the Future postcard . It’s a real postcard
It looks quite nice. I didn’t really watch 2,3,4 or however many runs the franchise had so was that something from the movie ?

I got this car to make a custom, but I am not sure about the wheels... They seem huge to me..

In the states this would be considered …modest

I never understood monster trucks.

A playmo  Irish Republican Army. Hmm I want to see pictures when you get them

You’d definitely not understand monster truck if you saw what people pay to make them ,  And what’s really silly is most of the street legal ones stay on pavement

I’d understand more if they went off roading or had to drive through rivers to get home, but no….just an image thing

Yes, IRA stands for something else in my part of the world too!

There is a phenomenon here known as the Chelsea Tractor, in which people drive over-specified 4x4 vehicles to take their children to school, etc. Also an image thing. Actually there are few places you can take an off-road vehicle without doing untold environmental damage, so I wonder what people have them for!

They are an animal rescue group. They RULE.

IRA = Intervenção e Resgate Animal = Animal Rescue and Intervention

The men in black, the dark side of the force here.

I don't like the monster trucks (I find them silly) - I changed the wheels of the power truck we had for normal ones.

I am not sure about this one - the BTTF - to use as an IRA car..

Thanks for the report and sharing the pictures.

We have the 5558 "Wildlife Adveture" pick-up which is largely the same base. I found it interesting that Playmobil was charging relatively little for the 5558 and that the BTTF version is nearly 3x the price!

Btw, that same pick-up chassis has been in use in various formats since the early 90's (1993?). That I'm aware there are the following sets:

@GrahamB, you don't fancy making one of your amazing "Themed Collections" on these pick-ups, do you? I absolutely loved your Autos and Vans reports, often referring to them as they're so well done and enjoyable to read / look at.

They look more like terrorists though than animal rescue.

Thanks Riccardo, I'm glad you found those reports useful!
Sadly, I have only one of those pickups (3070) and I'm about to sell that. Pickups are among my least favourite vehicles in the real world, so I have never collected the PM versions, without which I couldn't compile a comparative report. Sorry.

(OT, I guess) Prejudice. They rule.

(Relax -we have 7 dogs, 7 cats, and countless farm animals)

Yes, the reports are lovely so thanks again for making them!

Understood re the pick-ups. I'm not a particular fan (nor detractor) of them either, I just like them in the context of Playmobil. Especially this older shape we're discussing here as it often is used as a base for interesting scenarios. For instance, set 3764 I find lovely, its adventurous and homely at the same time.

We also have the set 70549 "Stunt SHow" monster truck. I was not keen, but in the eyes of a 5yr old it is an amazing vehicle... so there we go!
