Title: 6464 Robber's Feast
Post by: Bas on June 11, 2015, 21:34:35
Hallo playmofriends.

As I told you once, I live in Germany and ordered the latest new DS stuff.

The remake of the 3627 set.

Unboxing:

There are 2 reason to buy this set for: The tree is wunderfull! And all the items can be used for a pirate/solder/western etc theme.

Clickies:

Wenn I look at the clickies I see it's typically '90's. The Archer looks like the 80's knights and the Cavelier and Beard-barkeeper have some nice detailed printed body from 00's.

The only thing is dislike is that there are not enough slippers for all of the barefoot clickies. (On the cover of the old 3627 there were enough slippers for all!)

Blunder!

The dog was already assembled in the box, but his tail is placed upside-down!

While there were still empty seats, I invited some other knights from the 00's style.....
(I really hate it to mix a 2015 knight with those 00's styles, the same counts for the horses, it then looks like the clickies don't belong to each other.)

Cheers!

You don't show the squirrels in any of the photos except partly in the bag. Are they the new squirrels or the old ones? Also do the chicks have a hole in the bottom or are they the old mold without the hole?
Thanks for the review

Many thanks for the review.   The set isn't a theme I collect, but it's good to see classic klickies back again.  You're quite right not to mix them with the current knights.

Sorry about that!

I did not even know there was something like new squirrels.

Those are obviously the older version squirrels.
However the small chickens do have a hole on the bottem.
The mother of them is an old type. (no red detailed eyes etc).

Thanks for posting the pictures, Bas... this is one of my favourite sets - now (or next year) I will finally be able to get one!

Thanks for posting!  Now hopefully DS will have some of that Oak Tree available (I'd hate to have to buy a bunch of the set when I really just want the tree).

Great, thanks so much for the details on the animals! SO they are in fact the old squirrel mold, interesting, but the chicks are the newer ones. Great to know, I can get this added to Animobil now.

Nice set it's got loads of parts I like the choice of Klickies particularly the Monk and Knight on horseback and all the beer overflowing the tankards. I've got the archer you invited with the eyepatch and ponytail he's a great figure as well  :)

The parts of the Oak tree have been available from DS in Europe for quite a while. At current prices, an Oak tree would cost you £13.35 (11 parts from DS), which is 18,45 Euro or $20.77 US. The 6464 set is selling at 39,99 Euro ($45.03 US, £28.94), so you could get just over two trees for the price of one set (assuming DS can provide the parts, of course!). Which just goes to show how much of a mark-up Geobra are making on DS spares!

At those prices, if you just want the tree, it might be worth buying full sets and then selling figure lots on Ebay. I bet there are people who want the figures and don't care about the tree.

While I certainly like the tree I mainly want the set for those great medieval clickies and the beer mugs with foam. Will still be a nice tree to have though for variation.  :)

Just hoping they will rerelease the set with the hollow tree sometimes too.

I agree, especially as the figures do not appear to be available from DS.

Absolutely, I really want a couple of those and they are getting ridiculously expensive on eBay if you can find them at all.

Good point.  Several people on here would probably be willing to buy or trade for the mugs and barrel too.

A great review of a great set. I remember buying a few of these in the 90s , one of my fav sets it was back then in the days before ebay as it had medieval rural klickies and not just knights. i cant wait for this set to arrive here and to get some oak trees , a true playmobil classic tree

A great set is reborn. I personally like every single part this set offers. The tree, mugs, big barrel, table, klickies all of it, just great classic playmo from the golden era

Thanks for the review.

Having just opened this recently bought set (having also owned the original), I must say that I am aghast at how spectacularly the quality is falling compared to the PM of yesteryear. Never mind the gummy plastic where once glorious, hard ABS used to be, but quality control has clearly gone to the dogs. The ‘sherrif’ klicky came with a defective neck piece that was not molded properly, and one of the music instruments was missing in the bag. The chicks have - upon close inspection - like tiny ‘bubbles’ on them.

It’s a disgrace. Much as I appreciate them re-releasing such rare items, the difference in quality between this just-opened set and the original one (now running what, 20 years?) is like night and day.

Meh.

So, upon sending them an email about this matter, I receive a stock reply asking me to send them the defective piece for it to be replaces - nowhere mentioning if I have to pay the shipping costs myself for a problem with their shoddy product.

Are they having a laugh, or what?

Shipping with Belgian post probably costs more than the klicky itself.

US DS sends replacement parts for free; maybe you'll be lucky!  I have been waiting over a year for 1 piece, though....

UK DS take your word for it and send a replacement part free of charges of all sorts.

Hah, that’s not very reassuring!

Can’t help but compare with Lego, where they send you replacement parts for defective or missing pieces immediatley, no questions asked.

Will see how it goes.

Regarding the UK office, good to know. Will see if they answer my email, and will report back. I honestly have little time - not to mention no printer - for printing, filling in and sending them the attached form, and on top of that paying for shipping the dfective piece myself.

Well, the piece I'm waiting for is from a set that's only been released in Europe, so the part has to come from Germany. Usually I get replacement parts from them pretty quickly if they're in stock in the US. However, the best DS I know of is Graham DS, direct from the UK. LOL.

Heh.

So they got back to me and a pic of the defective piece will suffice, at least. Now to find a way to print the attached form!

Still, from the hundreds of sets I bought along the years I’d be hard pressed to name one that came with a defective or missing piece. This one had two.

It's amazing this re-release has been around this long. Just ordered one myself now they're back in stock.

With the old village/medieval hats making a slow comeback I hope to see all of them appear eventually.
White and also red dutch like hat for women, white and also red baker hats, black jester hat (red too if you count the agostini one), dark blue? robin hood cap with yellow feather.

Still need the white veil with flat top that the fancy women had, the count hat, the high cap with feather, the robin hood cap with no feather and the blacksmith cap.

Shipping with Belgian post probably costs more than the klicky itself.

I had to send a few kids-collars to somenone in the north of France a few weeks ago. Needed a kind of tracking or proof of shipping... so I had to send it registered.  Costed me 10 euro in total to send those few tiny pieces in a small envelope just across the border.  >:(
Meanwhile I´m waiting invain for receipt of a few small untracked packages, most probably these will (once again) never arrive  >:(

And yesterday I heard our neighbour German Post will soon raise prices again (by lowering allowed shipping volume/dimensions for specific rates) ...   >:(

Update: they did send me the missing/defective pieces in the end. All they needed was a pic of the defective piece and a copy of the invoice. Still, worries me how I encountered these problems (two of them) in one set when I never had a problem with any of the sets I bought in the past.

Did you see Tahra's series 15 review? One arm was missing a hand and a hat had a huge hole in it. Either they're pushing things through faster or the quality control people are not as good as they used to be.
