Title: Scooby Ghosts
Post by: Indianna on January 24, 2020, 21:04:30
Found these at a local Walmart - a full case, so I got them all.  I have become rather bored with the Mystery Figures, but I am a sucker for anything remotely Halloween-ish and these ghost figures seem pretty interesting.   I'll have time in a few days to start opening them up and I will use the opportunity to try to improve my photo-taking skills.   ;)

Awesome! I didn't know these were out yet!

Can you share a pic of the "booklet ", when you open them?

. . . . Can you share a pic of the "booklet ", when you open them?

Will do!  Also, I've been looking at your PlayKingdoms site (the gold standard) for examples of how to lay out the package contents for photos, so maybe you'll see some of those pics, as well.  :crossed:

Thank you :)  Hope you're faster. I still have s16 to do, and movie s2  :-[

Weren't these supposed to be available in May?

I'm completely confused.

Walmart US got an exclusive on them and have them available now, general release to other retailers will be May. I picked up 5 of them at my local, but they only had a partial case left so no possibility of a full set from that one. the cases are smaller with only maybe 2 sets per case? They are great figures but I am on the fence about going back and trying to pick up scattershot, or just waiting until May and then ordering a case through my usual shop. Probably the latter.

Looking forward to seeing your photos, Indy! This is a set I am hoping to buy in May... a UK eBay seller says he will be offering complete sets (much the best way to get them, IMO, no bag-fondling necessary!)

I've been watching the original Scooby cartoons from 1969 (on YouTube).... In the cartoons all of the "ghosts" are villains in disguise, & the PM Figures are the same. Underneath each ghost outfit is a regular-looking clicky; however, the clickies look like the villains-in-disguise from the cartoons! A good example of this is found in the Scooby & Shaggy set, which features the flowing white-robe kind of ghost. In the original cartoon, the villain is revealed to be a Spanish-looking man with a curly mustache; the clicky is the same. Pretty neat!

I'll post pics of some of the Figures alongside screenshots of their cartoon counterparts tomorrow.

The Space Kook. The clicky has a green top with suspenders (hard to see in this pic). Ditto the cartoon villain. Too bad it doesn't glow red like the original.

Great photos, Jim!
It's fun to see the comparison between the Playmo and animated versions.  The "Space Kook" happened to be the first one I opened, so I'll keep opening bags until I find a different one.  ;)
Working on photos today . . . .  :crossed:

Thanks for the photos, Jim! I'll add parts to the inventory, and names to the ghosts, as I find out about them. It's be great to see the card-file sticker (it is a sticker, correct - not a printed part?) and any other paper that came with.

With the Space Kook, are the grippers these? 30 23 2502 - Hydraulic Grippers (https://playmodb.org/cgi-bin/showpart.pl?partnum=30-23-2502) ? or are they a darker/medium grey? Is that all his equipment?

Eagerly awaiting Indianna's photos too! Indianna, if you could lay the contents out so I can crop separate pics of the parts, that'd be super useful. Credit given to the detective of course.

First thing, 2 inserts side by side (one front and one back).  Easy to do as it is a scan not a photo, so my limited skills have yet to be tested . . .  ;)

*** After posting the scan, I can see that the image is not great - I had to reduce the file size a lot.  Heather, if you (or anyone else) wants a more robust image, I can try to get it to you somehow.  All suggestions for better images will be appreciated!

That's fine for my purposes, thanks! number 30 82 9375, date 09.19, correct?

Yes, that is correct!
Also, about the stickers, there are 2 - one is the image that would go on the poster ("available from toy shops") and one is for the included "ghost card" that seems to work with the Mystery Machine set.  I'll try to take some "helicopter" photos of all the items in the bag. :)

Caretaker (and back of picture sticker) - when I have all the sets open, I'll do a scan of all 12 of each type of sticker,
Figure photo has some lighting problems, not to mention his crooked beard  ::)
And now I'm exhausted!  That's all for today.

I've got them all listed on my Figures website. The names are those on the little clear stickers. For instance the Gypsy is Carlotta which was her personal name in the show.  http://animobil.info/figures/text/5d0863aa-figures-1398.html (http://animobil.info/figures/text/5d0863aa-figures-1398.html)

The Ghost Diver has the ring of grey hair like in the show also. I think they did a really good job on this series.  Ghost Clown has two faces - regular face and the clown face.

Some very useful parts with that caretaker.  8-)
But quite silly they printed a vest on the front of his torso instead of giving him an existing (short) jacket  ::)

My local WalMart just sold out of its first case; I should confess that I bought 14 from that case. I bought the last 4 today & snagged the empty display box as well. I now have 11 of the 12 figures. There are 3 more WalMarts within a half hour of me....

Thank you for all the great work :)

I am not familiar with the characters, but from what you have shown so far, they are quite accurate...

(and indeed some useful parts - since they have no meaning as characters here, they are all "free" to change..)

Once again Belgium and France come through with the official word on some parts that are included in the packs.

https://www.playmobil.be/on/demandware.store/Sites-BE-Site/default/Product-GetSpareParts?pid=70288 (https://www.playmobil.be/on/demandware.store/Sites-BE-Site/default/Product-GetSpareParts?pid=70288)
https://www.playmobil.fr/piece-des-detachees?pid=70288 (https://www.playmobil.fr/piece-des-detachees?pid=70288)

I've made them sub-parts of the appropriate figure, all except the dog collar? And guessed at some others - I'll change them if I find out they're wrong. I've snooped through eBay to find which sticker for the ghost-filecard goes with which, but I don't like to steal pictures from there - if anyone has any they haven't stuck on yet (so I can see the partnumber) I'd appreciate having photos of them. Also looking for front-and-back scans of the big stickers, which remain, unlabelled, in the main set itself.

70288 - SCOOBY-DOO! Mystery Figures (Series 1) (https://playmodb.org/cgi-bin/showinv.pl?setnum=70288)

All the subparts I have so far can be seen in the text-only list (https://playmodb.org/cgi-bin/listinv.pl?setnum=70288).

Also haven't seen the plans for Scooby Doo Van and Ghost sets 70286, 70287 (https://playmodb.org/cgi-bin/your_set_list.pl?setlist=70286,70287;title=Scooby%20Doo%20Van%20and%20Ghost%20sets%2070286%2C%2070287) ! Anyone have them? They might not be online till May.

Heather,

This is the instruction sheet for The Movie display stand which I just snagged; it has a parts number, to my surprise. It's 2-sided - are you interested? I could copy the sheet for you. The number is 3068 1482/01.19

Yes, I'd love to have the scan - email to playmodb@gmail.com is best, and I will check the mail until I get it. I guess it doesn't have a set to go in, but can stand by itself. It's my opinion that EVERYTHING, every body part, every bit of promo paper, has a part number - some are just easier to find out than others!

It should be quite easy to fit a red LED and a battery into that backpack. I won't be getting these until May to try it, however...

I have just opened the Scooby Doo Figures (BLTN!) and I was wondering if you or anyone has come up with any more comparison pictures showing the PM versions and the HB cartoon originals, like you did for the Space Kook and the ghost from the Scooby and Shaggy set? I used an episode list on Wikipedia to come up with what I think are the 12 episodes whose villains are featured in the Figures. Shall I post my list and see if it agrees with what other people found?

I have tmost of the original series (pieced together from YouTube videos). I can let you know what villains appear where. Or, I can mail you the files if you'd like. They're fun to watch.

I still like your idea of lighting up the Space Kook as seen in the cartoon. If you figure out how to do it, may I mail you an extra figure?  ;)

EDIT: I actually have all of my Scooby-Doo videos uploaded to Facebook, so if you go to my page & go to the video section, you'll find them all:

Thanks for the link, JLM. I think it would be interesting to see stills of the baddies, with and without their disguises, to compare with the PM versions, like you have already done so effectively with the Space Kook.

I will have a play with the LED idea and let you know how it goes.
