I look up from the floor at the messenger standing before me,
The news of the impending invasion into the Empire's land had finally reached mine ears.
I quickly sit up straighter in my chair.
Turning to King Darnald of Winterhaven I say quickly,
"My friend it has been wonderful to see you,
and to return to your grand city, after so long away.
But I am afraid my stay must end.
This news of the invasion of Empire territory is grim,
and I must return to Rutileo to decide what is to be done.
My fairest goodbyes to you."
I bow to the King Darnald, and leave the court room quickly,
I reach the room I am staying in, and tell a pageboy to send word
to Lord Etir Sayest, telling him that I am to leave for Rutileo at once,
but that he should stay and finish the quest with Sir Alder.
When they are done he will receive cash from King Darnald for departure home,
which I will pay the kind King back for, of course.
After that I gather a few of mine belongings and head swiftly for the docks.
I pay a merchant to take me to Rutileo as fast as the wind can take him, and we set off.

Meanwhile on the front of the invasion,
The Empire forces have stocked their forts and castles.
They are prepared for a long and gruesome war...
In fact, that is exactly what the Emperor wants.
Each day, more people seem to be signing up to become a soldier,
and many more are joining their towns Militia forces.
He recons within a year he will have two,
(although rather poorly trained)
more legions ready at his disposal.
Grangel has yet to invade their lands,
and I have not heard any news from others who have expressed interest.
