Title: "The Story of a Smile" Book
Post by: tonguello on June 29, 2011, 00:30:34
I got my copy this morning and just now I finished giving it a quick look. It is a lovely book. Photographs are excellent and it seems VERY interesting. More details will be posted when I start reading it next weekend.

I just wanted to point two things that got my attention at once.

1) according to the book, in the original pattent presented, the legs WERE designed to move SEPARATELY. This was discussed in a thread by Cachalote a few months ago, and we could see a copy of the original plans there. Sorry I can't find it. But indeed the original design was for them to be independent legs.  :)

2) Our very own playmofriend Daniela is in the book, what a surprise,  a couple of pictures, an interview and all! At the time (2006) she was building a huge Opera House which I beg her to post here     Congratz Daniela!!!!

That's all so far. I will post more as I read it....

Yes, I was also very interested in noticing that it DOES say the legs were planned to move seperately, very interesting!

If you want to see pics of Daniela's opera house, she provided a link in her welcome thread: http://www.playmofriends.com/forum/index.php?topic=627.msg8656#msg8656  Or here is a direct link to her gallery in playmo portal: http://www.playmo-portal.com/galerie/DanielaMein-Opernhaus-und-Harry-Potters-Welt (Hope you don't mind, Daniela)  It's really an amazing creation! I do wish you'd post pics of it directly here, Daniela. :picsplz:

Btw, thanks for doing the review of this Gaston... maybe it will whet my appetite for it. I have to admit I've had it for over a month and have glanced through it a few times but have yet to look deeper into it. :-[

I was fortunate enough to get to visit Daniela and the Opera in person when in Germany. It's amazing. I will have a few photos to post of it in my Travelogue thread eventually but I still haven't gotten to editing them. If you haven't seen it in detail before do be sure to check Daniela's gallery - you will be amazed.

and Thank You again Daniela for your wonderful hospitality in letting us pay you a visit!

Another curiosity about the book is, that so far the word Geobra is never written with capitol G (except when it is at the biggining of a sentence)

Does enybody know why?   :hmm: :hmm: :hmm:
