I buy it last saturday, my soon and me build it and we are realy enjoy. It´s really a great set and perfect to play.
The only one bad think I have to say is that I regreat that the sides (Triangle) are bad fixed and fall down very fast. Why Playmobil don´t put 2 system X in the long to delate this mistake?
Best regard,
TJ ;)

ok here are the rest from the Box pictures.
This was again flip box from playmobil after the 3262 crane.
You can open to see all the secrets inside the pyramid !
ENJOY the pics.
more soon..............

Hi,
ok lets start to build the pyramid ! At the backside of the box you can read:
Important for Parents: Time required for assembly about 120 minutes 8}
If i look at the Box i find a ERROR ther are the size 40 cm but the pyramid are 53 cm !!
- The first thing there are no SYSTEMX Button.
- Many Stickers, WOW you need realy time to fix it exacly !!
more details tomorrow, many pictures soon !!!
ENJOY the pictures !!

Thanks for a GREAT review, Andi!
I am looking forward to seeing MORE ...
It appears that Playmobil has really committed themselves to their new faux Steck connectors.(Please see attachment.)
If this is true, then I can't understand why they just didn't use the real Steck or SystemX.
Am I correct, Andi? Are they using the same connectors that they used on the Dino cage, the Vet's office and the Tree House? Click HERE (http://www.playmofriends.com/forum/index.php?topic=2382.16).

-
So do the pyramid side panels fall down easily? If so, that's a pity. Would a fourth side panel fit so that the pyramid could be completely enclosed? Thanks in advance.

Hi Richard, I suspect that when Hans Beck left, the engineering element left with him.
The new designers are probably math-adverse art majors, hence the insensible panoply of connection types.
"Order? Isn't that something they only care about in math class?"
-
Maybe they're big on chaos theory?
It does feel a bit like they keep re-inventing the wheel with their construction systems.
Steck worked, and looked good in the process.
System-X works, though it does leave ugly pits and holes, and is a nightmare fitting all those stupid connectors (and I find they tend to drop out or disconnect from the wrong end when moving or breaking down setups).
Now they appear to be abandoning system-x for various clips or lack of clips, where nothing can connect to anything else, and sometimes not even to itself, if the walls keep falling off.
I think Hans Beck is quoted in Story of a Smile saying "everything fits". Now everything is separate and falls apart. :'(

The pyramid have 3 sides closed, at front nothink, it stay open. And don´t try to buy one more by DS, your will not closed it because of "Turn door".

Thanks, TJ!
That answered a question that a lot of us had.
The pyramid have 3 sides closed, at front nothink, it stay open. And don´t try to buy one more by DS, your will not closed it because of "Turn door".

That is such a pitty . From all the pictures it sure looks like it could be closed up .
-
Maybe they're big on chaos theory?
Maybe??! :hmm:
[Well ... I agree with Tim: they probably run away from chaos theory, and are only practiced by chaos itself ... (And certainly practice no chaos themselves at all 8} )
Proof of this is that they did this pyramid ... It looks like very fun to play with, but, well, I'm only taking a look at some pictures (I truly believe it must be a wonderful toy!). I'd love to make for one, but ... :-[ erm ... :P I'm in the beginning of my medieval (playmo)world, so ...]
ENJOY the pics.
more soon..............
Thanks, Andi!
I'ts great to see this pyramid coming out of the box :)
How long you think it'd take to assemble it WITHOUT the stickers, btw? ... 8}

TJ
That's too bad, because it looks like it could easily work. This was a very poor decision on Playmobil's part. :(

I disagree, TCJ. You can put in a fourth wall; as long as you push the "turn door" back. And indeed; you can't open it then. But purely for the way it will look, I am thinking of actually ordering a extra wall.
I am glad that they used stickers instead of printing. This way it is possible to order them and using them as the walls for small projects ... I am thinking of Tut's grave or something like that!
The only thing that had me disappointed is the Pharaoh that's included; or rahter - his wonderfull hat. I thought it was a hat; but unfortunately it is a hair piece :-\. It would have been better if it had been a hat...
Oh well - you can't have everything.
BTW - what are your experiences? My two boys (aged 3 and 5) have played A LOT with it. I had it put together on wednesday and I took it down on sunday; for four days they'ev played with it. Not continually, but they got back to it each time. The secret slide specially was a big hit as were the secret rooms.

Can't somebody just take one of the Three walls that come with it and see if it fits on the side w/ the rotating door. After all it will be one ( unless they are all the same ) of them that we will need to order to fit it in . ??? I want it to be able to be closed up for displays and think this would be a big mistake if it can not be. :crossed:
-
Hi,
ok Bogro, that´s right. I give bad information and I excuse me. I´ve tryed just now, and when I pusch a "Turn door" back, then inside a pyramid, I can close completly this.
1000 sorry,
TJ
-
I hope I didn't offend you, TCJ. I truly didn't want to. So if I did - please accept my apologies.

Would somebody be able to do a close up shot of the hairpiece so I understand this? You mean his "pharoahnic hat" is snap-on hair like the bald-headed guy parts?
-Tim
-
I'm relieved to hear that the fourth wall will indeed fit.
I didn't know that the pharaoh's headpiece was in lieu of his hair. Interesting, but that's fine with me.

No problem Bogro really, everypeople can make a mistake, and in this case I can reconnize my error. Better you say this than nothink. I´m more confused because of my mistake than what you write.
Finaly I Prefer we can close all 4 sides of pyramid :yup:
TJ

That's a very impressive set, Andi, and thanks for the review. Look forward to seeing the whole thing built up to really appreciate it.
One question: on the box the outside walls are sandstone coloured, in the picture they are grey. Are they covered all over with stickers, or is it a trick of the light?
And yes, I've got to agree about the young lady!
-
Hi,
ok excuse for this long waiting time, here comes the rest

BUILDING THE PYRAMID:
I start with building up the PYRAMID !!

Yet make the stickers on the walls !
Than you must build with the PYRAMID STECKSYSTEM the inside.
You start with the hearth "the pharao chamber."

GIMMICKS AND HINTS AND TRAPS:

At the 3 sides there are a figure with 8 parts.
This had inside numbers.
After you build you can use the KEY and press the cyan button.
NO not all falling down looks like the playmobil video only one bold you can move first.

and the sarcophagus !
Must say some to the scorpion trap, you cant find it at the video.
You fill up the Scoprions from the top and close it.

Thanks for the Review Andi!
I think this is a great set and going to be very popular. I could get one quite quickly through eBay, but I'm going to hold off until it appears in the UK shops officially, so I have soemthign to look forward to for next summer.
cheers, Martin

I, too, am going to wait until the Egyptian sets arrive in the US.
It used to be fun to be the "first kid" on the block to have the newest sets.
Unfortunately, there aren't any "kids" with Playmobil anywhere near where I now live ... :sadklicky:
-
but...it's the 4240 pyramid :P
-
That looks like a great set, I like the Egyptian Soldiers and robbers, looks like a great set in terms of design and play value the traps are great ;D. Might get some kdis mroe interested in history as a bonus ;) :egypt:
