So does that mean the hair does come off the Super 4 figures? It looks much more a part of the head than the usual wigs. Or maybe that's just some of them.

That was announced then.... confirmed at the pcc, I think. The fairies, and that knight guy, the old knight... molded. Not a good way to go, imo.

(though I didn't get my hands on any of those, annoyingly)

I agree with your speculation - and I think you are missing that uglyish one... removavle too. Originally, I think from a weird "bike" thing.
