For the 4223 ambulance car review (http://www.playmofriends.com/forum/index.php?topic=2485.0) I did take some photos of real VW Passats to compare the model with the real thing, but never posted them.  So here as an example of how Plamobil works in this area are some photos from the review and photos of an actual VW Passat.  The Passat had a model change in 2005 and the PM ambulance came out in (I think) 2005/1006, so I had to do a bit of searching about when I did the review to find the older versions on the streets.

First, front view of the PM version:

Then the real thing:

Now the side views, PM:

VW:

Rear, PM:

and VW

The rear shows the most obvious differences from the Playmobil version, but later on I did spot a Passat with straight sides to the rear hatch "lid" like the PM one.

Well, in my eyes at least the #4820 does still look more like a MB Atego then any other truck I've seen so far. The #4821 I really don't know, since I couldn't find a pic of a real truck that looks like that.

The 4821 as regards its outline looks like a German RW, which roughly equates with an emergency tender or rescue vehicle.  Here's one pretty close to it if you ignore the HIAB crane on the rear:

But speaking of the #4821, it's only a pump truck? I mean, it doesn't carry no water at all? And if it doesn't carry water, is it only a pump unit or a pump/rescue unit?

In the UK the term "pump" refers to a fire engine fitted with a pump and a water tank.  Increasingly, fire engines also carry rescue gear (cutters and spreaders usually) and these are called pump/rescues.

And what would be the "official" designation of the 4820, a turntable ladder unit?

That's right, a TL for short.

It's very important to know what they're called so that I can properly name my fleet :D.

I've only once seen a Playmobil vehicle with a maker's name on it:

Playmo, thanks for the pic and the info!
So far that Scania 94G is the most similar to the #4821 I've seen so far. I agree that also looks like the same cabin used in the #4820, but overall I still think it looks closer to the Atego 1528 :-\.

So the #4821 is a rescue/tender unit and the #4820 is a TL unit. Cool!  8-)

And thanks for the pics on the Passat, that was going to be my next research, for the ambulance and police car .
Cheers!

Yes, PP, the Scania 94G is a pretty good match.

Here's a pretty good one of a Scania TL:

and here's a Swedish one:

and a P94D:

Grampian Fire and Rescue always look smart in white:

as do Cleveland in red and white:

Whoa, now we got a good Scania candidate :o!

This looks even a better match then the Atego 1528:

The Scania is a better match for the cabin and the rear is VERY similar, so I guess the #4820 is a Scania 94G TL .
Thanks buddy!  ;)
Cheers!

Damo, don't take into consideration colors and graphics, they vary a lot even in the same country.
Cheers!
