Playmobil at the International Toy Fair

Indianna:
Excuse me, Playmobil, now you've made a CONSTRUCTION TOY??   :(o):

Tiermann:
The sky trails concept looks fun, but it's huge. That is a lot of space to take up for a toy. I love the amusement park carnival theme and it can fit in there. We have been asking for a roller-coaster for years. The one in the Dinos theme took up way too much space as it was and this going will be even bigger. They have to make it cheap though. If it costs hundreds for a full series of sets it's dead already.

Here is an interview in German showing all the themes at Toyfair https://youtube.com/watch?v=u18_p96-cLk&si=GjX9e0e7RlTFITBP

Tiermann:
Well the prices of Sky Trails have been posted, a full series of sets so you have at least one each of the options is over 200€
Basic starter set is 80€. I suppose if you can afford a house big enough to have that kind of toy then it might be an option. I don't see it being a raging success in that price range with the current economy.
Geobra has been around longer than the Playmobil toy line. It makes sense for them to try new tangents. Their plastics division's first big success was getting the German production license for the hula hoop. I don't see this being as popular.

Not at all, please reference the set where a dinosaur smashes down bricks with little bumps on them to show how pathetic this form of construction is.

As for the figures soaring across the room, you can actually do that with twine. This and the beach theme just seem pointless. A builing like the ghostbusters one but as a regular apartment block would be useful. Give it some points around the walls to attatch fire to and you have something for the fire engines to actually deal with. Or police have to rescue people, or thieves have to get to the safe on the top floor. Far more useful than a beach blanket and umbrella or some tubes that wont be near enough to be really interesting. Actually instead of the flying fox or whatever it is they could have done a huge water slide theme. Build your own mega slide and have the klickies end up in an actual pool of water, the bath or just the carpet. At least the old hot wheels type tracks had loops in them for the cars to go upside down as they raced along. Set up some rings at the end of the slide and try to get the klickies to fly through them.

I think this is the problem that it's going to face, rather than anything from the playing side
