Chateau de Loire en Miniature

I would like to share the first pictures of a miniature version on a Loire castle. It wasn't until last September when the new fairytale sets were released when I finally fell in love with System-X. Strange it took me so long.

Unfortunately I have to admit I have three problems.

- my photographic skills are not existing 
- my camera is just a 2.0 (so no pics with high definition) 
- due to limited space the whole thing is hard to photograph anyway

Still one can see that there is quite some potential in System-X (if only the "new" medieval castle would be as versatile as the fairytale one)

I have always preferred the old Steck System to SystemX. But, after looking at your beautiful "Chateau de Loire en Miniature," you have made me realize that perhaps I should take another serious look at this Playmobil building system.

Thank you very much for the "under construction" photos. It was great fun to be able watch your chateau "grow."

That's very nice indeed, Michael.  And no problems with either photographic skills or definition.
Space, however - yes, you do have a problem.

Thank you all for the encouraging words. System-X is really worth another look even though possibilities are limited e.g. there is no inner curve for the roof section available so I have to compromise. May I dare to show you my inspiration as well (if you haven't recognized it anyway).

I'm having trouble enlarging the pic, but I can certainly see how it ties in with your great custom.


Ah, tried again and it worked ok.  I think maybe Zonealarm was running an update on my machine when I tried before.

It is amazing how much your Playmobil "chateau" resembles the original Chambord Chateau! I had always thought that the Playmobil "palace" was designed for a failed Arabian Nights Theme. But, now after seeing your beautiful rendition of Chambord, I am beginning to wonder if Chambord was also the inspiration for Playmobil's Fantasy Palace

Chambord itself is quite interesting ...

"Chambord was never a place for living. Upkeep, and especially heating, was so difficult that the Kings of France and its different owners only came in the summer, to hunt or for large receptions."

Never got an idea that with the new castle such nice results would be possible. I especially like the blue roof top.
