Title: Favorite pirate klicky
Post by: Kenny on November 13, 2011, 23:35:40
Hi:

I'm curious to know....

Who is your favorite pirate klicky and why?  (No customs, please.  Just straight-out-of-the-box figures.)

Here's mine:  30 13 1000

I like him because he's not "pirate-y" in a cartoonish way.  He looks like a scalawag rake who has ended up on the wrong side of the law.  I also like him because he's not wearing a "pirate" hat.

So now it's your turn.....

Good question  :) I have your favourite and like him a lot too......Gonna have to go through all my pirates and see who I like best. Kinda think it might be the one from 5945, not the Captain, the other guy! Not sure why....

There's one other, I believe. It's the pirate captain (http://playmodb.org/cgi-bin/showpart.pl?partnum=30-00-9632) from the new 5135 ship  :captain:.

what torso is that?  is that a standard classic "female" torso?  or a special one?  I've never seen a "womanly" figure on a female clicky before (they're usually boxy looking, save for the swimsuit clickies who still by comparison don't seem as feminine in appearence as this female pirate clicky)

I thought about the female pirate, too, Panos!

She looks more... "womanly" because of the belt around her waist. It accentuates all the right things, just like on real females. Very flattering if there are curves to be flattered. ;) Also the puffy sleeves draw the eyes upward and emphasize the right areas.

I was going to say... It looks as if she has had surgery, in that pic ;D

It must be an optical illusion with that tight belt round her waist ;)

All the pirates look great, the maori is one of my favorites and I must say the piratelady of WolfKnight is also

However, my favorite is the 4581

He has the "I don't care how I look as long as my hat is oke" kinda look. Earrings, eye-patch unshaved chin ! Like him the best.

My favorite at the moment is the newest pirate special, hes not listed on PlaymoDB yet though.

He's a black haired pirate with stubbles and a torn brown shirt, red pants, a wooden leg and an eyepatch. He has a dark blue hat thats seen better days yet he stil smiles and has no evil eyebrows, making him seem like the cheerfull sort despite his misfortunes.
He also comes with a bag filled with either treasure or his lunch, and a small golden chest with more gold coins that could fit in there.
Either way I really like how this special is telling a story about a single pirate who already had his share of adventures before he even comes out of the box.

According to his diary, you werent always that nice to him. Shooting projectiles at him, stripping him of his belongings, putting him in dark places, not letting him play..  :(

Now we really need to know how it continues, to see if you make it up for him.  :)

Of course they are things, we all know that.  :)  (I hope?)

But they do get to embody our imagination, they are assigned roles as if they where actors and through them our stories come alive. Well not literaly but you get the idea.  ;)

Mmm. Fair point there. Still, it's a very very pretty figure. The prettiest figures in this theme do not look like pirates I think... the fat one in 4444 being a case in point :) PM should give us more figures like these.

If soldiers count as well, then I'd have to say this guy is my favorite.

He can be a redcoat, a merchant, a gentleman adventurer, possibly even a pirate. A wonderfully versatile clicky in this setting with a great look.
Just keep him away from liquor.

Pretty figure indeed, a stubble however might do the trick in making him look a little more piraty! It's somewhat of a cliche but eyepatches, hooks, stubble, wooden legs make a pirate lool like a pirate.

True, but I really think they provide a very good mix of pirates. Pretty much all of them are unique in their appearance.
Some can make for good civilians as well, in this setting but also in the medieval setting.

It's one thing that did bother me about lego: the pirates looked very similar. I always switched their parts around to create a varied bunch. And then I still tried to not put those with the same chest piece or same faces together to not make them look uniform.

Playmobil pirates where never very uniform, in the first batch the exact same crew of the ship also came in a loose set, which is a shame but the wonderfull thing about playmobil at the time was that any clicky could be a pirate, which allowed for creating a varied crew from the start.

30 00 6400 - Blackbeard (I am from NC...)  In an online game years ago I had Edward Teach as my character and had a whole pirates theme going on.  I saw this guy a few years ago and picked up the set (5730).  I switch out the hat  for a more tricorne like hat with a white feather.  I wish I could swap out the hook hand, Blackbeard did not have a hook...

Easily done, I think.  It looks like a standard red arm/Caucasian hand.  Voila! -- Blackbeard!!

I actually puled the hook out and replaced the hand.  Check out my avatar pic for an update.  Painted pants, added some more pistols by adding clips to their opposite sides of the locks so they would clip to his chest belt.
