Title: What specific items/pieces would you like to see?
Post by: Klicky_Ghost on May 23, 2021, 10:04:03
Hello, everyone!

I apologize if this has been discussed before, but I am wondering what specific items or pieces you would like to see from Playmobil?

By "specific items or pieces," I mean things like:

To start, my current wish list would include:

I would like to see a baldrick designed to fit the female klickies.

Good thread!

A traditional plough would be at the top of my wish list. Like the one produced by PlayBig for their Viking theme (http://www.claudia-schott.de/PlayBig/PlayBig2000/playbi_1.htm), but then with the option of yoking some oxen.

I would like to see a baldrick designed to fit the female klickies.

I could have sworn there was a female pirate in one of the '90s sets that came with a baldrick, but I'm not sure if this was specifically designed for female klickies.

I'm honestly quite shocked that Playmobil hasn't included a plow in one of the sets, whether from the Knights, or Western, or Farm themes!  :o What an oversight!

Pretzel

Lego has had it for years, and Playmobil is a Bavarian company with years of beerhall and traditional dress figures but no pretzels.

Pretzels :) :)

I would love to see more Australian animals. Only kangaroos, koalas and crocodiles (/alligators) so far.
I would also love to have tree leaves in fall colours.

Yes, the tree leaves using the mixed yellow and orange plastics like some of the crabs.

Pretzel

Lego has had it for years, and Playmobil is a Bavarian company with years of beerhall and traditional dress figures but no pretzels.

A most shocking omission indeed! The beer garden pretzels are one of my fondest memories of Bavaria; I think they must have made up about 90% of my diet during the stay. It's honestly surprising they've never created a pretzel, which seems like a simple mold to create that could be included in a variety of different sets. They've had every opportunity to create them too! I can't believe they have the pretzel vendor (5506), an Oktoberfest Maid (Fi?ures Series 11), and multiple bakers, all with no pretzels. It seems intentionally perverse.

I would love to see more Australian animals. Only kangaroos, koalas and crocodiles (/alligators) so far.
I would also love to have tree leaves in fall colours.

I'm always a fan of more animals! It would be really interesting to see them make "exotic" animals like echidna, platypus, or quokka.

Yes, the tree leaves using the mixed yellow and orange plastics like some of the crabs.

I don't know how I missed this suggestion when I made my last reply.

Yes, autumn foliage would be an easy add, I should think, and it would work into the Playmobil world very well. I would love to see some autumn-themed sets, like apple picking and cider making!

Yes, cider making
Or an autumn/harvest festival with pumpkins and a carriage ride.
An oktoberfest set (for the adults). With a band making schlager music.
And clickies with rubber boots, rain coats and/or an umbrella

They do have an autumn inspired set, 9863. But I wasn’t really impressed.
(I made a suggestion to customer service NL a year ago to do something season related and 9 months later these sets appeared. Do they really listen to the suggestions or was it a weird coincidence??)

I've no idea if they still do, but they certainly used to track customer suggestions - I wrote to them when I was about 8 or 9, and they wrote back and the letter specifically mentioned what I'd asked for (it wasn't just a standardised response). I even think at one point they said they got lots of requests for Romans, but it was all from older children and that's why they hadn't produced Roman sets (at the time).

I wouldn't know where to start. In steck alone, just hire the 3D/resin guys. (my wallet would KILL me)

But right now, I'd prefer them to just not use those horrid bodies. Especially ruining what would be some of the best klickys EVER. IMO. No, I am not over this. I don't know if I ever will be.

More non-fighting klickys (well, and stuff) in all "historic/fantasy" themes.  And stop with the pink idiocy.

Love the idea of the plough - a perfect example of "non-fighting" :)

And clickies with rubber boots, rain coats and/or an umbrella

How would these be different from existing parts?

I have too many wishes that would fill this wish list, so I’ll have to think some more and return to this in order to pick some of my top wishes... I will say, however, the creations of “playmolook” are usually quite nice. I’m not positive if it was “playmolook”, but I do believe I’ve seen a plow. I have some of their creations and they blend well into the playmobil world...

Totally forgot about 9863! The "seasons" sets of 9861-9864 were a nice start, but (as you mentioned) very underwhelming! The spring florist and summer sets are probably my favorites, but even those are a fairly uninspired little sets. Playmobil has zero qualms about reusing molds all willy nilly, so why not add a few pumpkins and a few bales of hay? Maybe a wagon to carry the baskets of apples?!

(I made a suggestion to customer service NL a year ago to do something season related and 9 months later these sets appeared. Do they really listen to the suggestions or was it a weird coincidence??)

I would like to believe they received your email an instantly sent these sets into production. Would you be able to email a few more suggestions their way on my behalf?  In all seriousness, it would be encouraging to think that the creative team at Playmobil considers and discusses viable suggestions from consumers.

I wrote to them when I was about 8 or 9, and they wrote back and the letter specifically mentioned what I'd asked for (it wasn't just a standardised response). I even think at one point they said they got lots of requests for Romans, but it was all from older children and that's why they hadn't produced Roman sets (at the time).

I'm having flashbacks to the several encouraging response letters I got to my suggestions c.1997-1998. Like, sure, they were totally going to seriously consider manufacturing a Playmobil Titanic.  Hey, a boy can dream, can't he? At least Romans seems like a much more viable suggestion, and clearly very successful!

I wouldn't know where to start. In steck alone, just hire the 3D/resin guys. (my wallet would KILL me)

Yes, there are several really great custom Steck sets. I'm particularly in love with the PlayMoebius cathedral and neoclassical pieces. It would be wonderful if Playmobil would manufacture a new set in Steck, particularly an 18th century/neoclassical design.

I will say, however, the creations of “playmolook” are usually quite nice. I’m not positive if it was “playmolook”, but I do believe I’ve seen a plow. I have some of their creations and they blend well into the playmobil world...

I've had the Playmolook Victorian camera on my wish list for ages, and just haven't been able to justify the cost yet. It would be great if Playmobil would reissue set 5401, though I actually prefer the look of the Playmolook camera judging from pictures.

I can’t believe how much overlap there is between my wish list and what people have already said.

Then there are the things that have been done, but are hard to find, like the victorian camera.

To start, my current wish list would include:

 • An antique sewing machine
 • A phonograph
 • A grand piano in black or "wood" (not lounge-singer white!)
 • A printing press (similar to this (https://i.ebayimg.com/images/g/10gAAOSw8gVYB7v9/s-l400.jpg) custom I came across)

Ohhh a Minotaur would be great, that’s a wonderful suggestion!.. and to be honest “playmolook” has prices that are somewhat expensive, but their creations are necessary because of the lack of products available... I think my primary wishlist would consist of an extension of steck walls and accessories. If playmobil expanded traditional castle lines with supplements for creativity, they would immediately beat out all competitors as well as showing they care about the people who have loved their products for decades. I don’t think this idea would cut into profits because if people enjoy their play sets, then those sets will still be bought, or at least I don’t think it would be a business decision that would be without significant profit. I can’t imagine how much money they would make from steck blister packs (they could charge a premium and I would pay with a smile)...here’s to dreaming!..

That'd do... To buy them from customs is just not doable, in my case. I mean, a part, yes... but for most you need a BUNCH of them, and it's a fortune. Imagine a tower with 6 sides, for example? At the VERY LEAST, it would NEED 2 floors (proabably 3).. enough said.

If playmobil expanded traditional castle lines with supplements for creativity, they would immediately beat out all competitors as well as showing they care about the people who have loved their products for decades.

Ah, but they have proven over and over again they don't give a darn about us. No, catering to other collectors seems to be the thing now. To Tartarus with PLAYMOBIL collectors. Let's try to ge some BTTF collectors to buy 6 sets. Yay.

But that is also a no-no. I mean, we DO know profit is not their goal.

A shame, really, that steck is not being produced and expanded (or even just reissued - can I? 7400! 7400! 7400! 7400! 7400! 7400! 7400! 7400! )

One day, it WILL be doable to buy steck by the load from customizers. I hope.

I'm not able to run the figures on the re-issues, but I strongly suspect they've never had a re-issue that's retailed at more than the original in real terms - and that's before we take into account how may of them are sold during the periodic sales/end up being heavily reduced (this definitely applies more to the Western line, but I suspect it's all mentally lumped together at Playmobil HQ).

Big yes on Cerberus and Minotaur. While at it might as well ask for a Faun or Satyr  and a Centaur. Centaurs have been super popular in customs for years now.

The Victorian camera will be back this Christmas in the next Back to the Future advent calendar. Many of us are happy about that.

They do seem to read these threads sometimes. We have a long time thread on animals people want to see and a great many of them have turned up over the years. The recent red panda looks exactly like one someone posted a drawing of a few years back in that thread. The swan was one of my suggestions a long time ago and it happened. The ice cream shop using the harbor set pieces that came out this year is almost an exact copy of a custom one I did in a diorama posted here a few years ago.

 • vintage sewing machine
 • phonograph

If Playmobil isn't going to reissue old sets, it would be nice if they would at least expand on old sets once in a while by releasing new add-ons that fit into the themes of old sets. For instance, they could release a Victorian seamstress with an old sewing machine and a few other accessories; or a 1900 garden party with a phonograph, maybe a butterfly net or croquet set.

 • penny farthing bicycle

I love this idea  ! A figure with an old-fashioned bicycle would be popular, I would think.

Then there are the things that have been done, but are hard to find, like the victorian camera.

Yes, they reissued the Victorian laundress, which I can't imagine a lot of people were asking for (though I was thrilled). Why can't they reissue some of the sets which are sure to be more popular, and presumably just as easy to produce, like the Flower Seller (5400)?

The Victorian camera will be back this Christmas in the next Back to the Future advent calendar. Many of us are happy about that.

Add me to the list! Looking at pictures released, I actually prefer the coloration of this version to the old one. Super exciting news!
I would also like to see lemons and limes. The old pirate ships had crates of fruit, but these obvious scurvy preventatives remain missing. They could also, of course, be used in farmers' markets & cetera.

I must admit I, too, was a bit surprised at that one, especially since the Victorian line has been a bit neglected in the re-issues stakes.

I would have thought the most useful single-Victorian item they could offer would be the single-window wall from the extension floor and the straight connector (or just, you know, re-issue the extension floor )
I agree on lemons and limes. They did slices of them in the Everdreamerz series 1 Kimby and Karmela figures that are great to have. Would love to at least see those pieces back in a general release set or two.

Yes! The single window wall piece was so difficult for me to track down, I just ended up buying another extension floor. As asking for a reissue of the entire Victorian mansion seems unfeasible, it would be wonderful if Playmobil would consider reissuing the single story 5305, perhaps reissuing the extension floor at the same time.

I imagine a reissue of the Victorian fencing alone would be most welcome to many, myself included.

I would also like to see lemons and limes. The old pirate ships had crates of fruit, but these obvious scurvy preventatives remain missing. They could also, of course, be used in farmers' markets & cetera.

Lemons and limes are great suggestions! And oranges! Citrus fruits were known to the ancient Romans, so it could also work into those sets as well. Lemons, limes, and oranges are very distinctive to children, so it is surprising that they have been neglected while watermelon, pineapple, and bananas have been in multiple sets.

How could I have forgotten fauns/satyrs! Those would be good for Greek mythology and have cross-over value for other kinds of fantasy, like unofficial Narnia.

Lemon and lime slices are now pieces but actual whole fruit not just yet.
This might be a substitute for limes at least:

No idea she was a Victorian until much, much later lol. I got her when she was marketed under Knights. Always wondered why she looked so different.

I whole-heartedly agree! I'd like to see more food variation in general. I believe the new Asterix sets had some new meat available? In addition:

Satyr/faun (I second this)

Skeletal horse (they made my night-mare! )

Carnival games

Proper werewolf

More variation on dragons outside of the Western designs (highly disappointed with the "Asian-inspired" ones. Plus they all are starting to look too similar)

More sea creatures, preferably deep sea (not the water park mascot)

More "oriental" buildings could be pleasant as they already have so many figures to match the aesthetic. Some say the old 3019 is inspired by it a bit.

Variation in treasure maybe? Like more jewels? Sacks of spice would just be useful in general. New bottle molds too?

Wall art like the old stick-on paintings!

And honestly a lot more, but I'd need my own thread for that lol.

A tram would be nice (I really like the look of the trams in Lisbon) and that train hand cart would be a great addition to the Western theme ;D
I really love this topic

A Dutch windmill would be amazing!!
Although I don’t see them doing that unless they are going to do some country themes. If they would combine the windmill with the Dutch lady from mystery figures series 15 70026 it would sell really great in tourist shops. They even have a small market in Michigan  (I recently discovered that there’s a Dutch windmill the Swan (de Zwaan) that got sold to the city Holland in Michigan in the 60s. The people from Vinkel were really missing their windmill so they build a new one.)
Oh and there is also a Holland theme park in Japan   Perhaps they can sell it there too.

What sort of set or items would you really like to see from your countries?

1) Shakos. I want to build an army of blue soldiers with shakos.

2) Brown and black monk hair pieces. There's not much you can do to differentiate monks but to change up their hair pieces, and as of now, our only options are gray and orange.

3) Steck parts for an abbey/cathedral

I'd like a Duke of Wellington figure (we've already had two Napoleons), and a Lord Nelson!  Perhaps a Field Marshal Blucher, and a Prince Bagration as well.  Also, some decent flags and Imperial Eagles.  In homage to Sharpe, it would be also be great to see some chosen men.

While looking at the Wiltopia sets I was thinking about this thread and the animals I would like to see for different continents

For Asia it would be:
- Japanese crane (2 versions, 1 with the wings down like the flamingo’s and 1 with is wings up)
- Japanese snow monkeys
- mandarin duck
- Komodo dragon
- proboscis monkey
- sun bear
- Borneo Pygmy elephant
- pangolin
- snow leopard

For Australia it would be:
- platypus
- wombat
- wallaby
- quokka
- dingo
- Tasmanian devil
- emu

Europe:
- puffins from Iceland

Do you have other animals on the wishlist?

I'd like some fairy world items that are inspired by folklore & not just this homoginised fantasy stuff.

If you have multiple mushroom sections they can be arranged kind of into a ring, but I'd like to see a base plate with holes for a large fairy ring of mushrooms.

A roller coaster. The vintage wooden style, one that can be modified and assembled in different configurations .

Geobra started what looks like a mining cart on a track style in the dinosaurs with laser cannons theme but I have not seen proper pictures

Agree we need a proper roller coaster, with an add-on in the Plus line that has tracks for easy extension.

They have made a "phoenix" twice now but never in the traditional red and yellows. That should also be in add-ons.

To me personally Playmobil was always the company that historically stuck to the mortal world, I know they quickly started a limited phantasy element but the ratio has seemed to grow significantly in the past 10 years. As fun as the fantasy can be it seems to take away production/warehouse space away from traditional themes . How popular can the dinosaurs with laser cannons really be ?

I agree in part with you, however some fantasy themes were not that bad. For example, for the medieval sets a little bit of fantasy is not such a huge problem. There were alwasy some sets with magicians, fairies and so on. There was also a classical dragon set + knight, if I remember correctly! I think they were really cute and well done. I am not a huge fan of the newer ones, though.

Yes

I look at a theme like the Ayuma.

A neat theme with lots of great usable elements for a robbin hood Forest or similar diorama but then as soon as I look at the “Tree of Wisdom” I immediately try to figure out how to delete the atrocious eyes .

My concern is always that these new hipster employees of Geobra will push the boundaries of design and want to get that short term lime light while sacrificing the integrity of the brand

I mean soon it’s possible this “fantasy” element will infect normal themes

The number of sets and themes that incorporate fantasy elements have definitely increased in the last several years. It must be profitable. I certainly hope that the traditional, more realistic sets continue to be released.

I agree in part with you, however some fantasy themes were not that bad. For example, for the medieval sets a little bit of fantasy is not such a huge problem. I absolutely agree. Those classic Magic theme sets (and Knights theme sets that had fantasy elements) are some of the best that have ever been released in my opinion.

I look at a theme like the Ayuma.

I agree that Ayuma (and Novelmore) have some great parts, especially for a more traditional Medieval fantasy setting. However, the Ayuma figures are not very good for customising due to the body part differences, and both the Ayuma and Novelmore figures and parts have so much printing on them that it makes using some of the parts with other ones difficult too.

And that tree design would be really cool without the face. :)

I’m not sure how profitable they are?

As a gauge to how well sets are moving I like to watch Amazon. I thought they use an algorithm that lowers prices until the item starts moving out of the warehouses

Lately all the Dino laser wars, and the destruction derby animal cars have been getting to 40+% off and staying there

ahah the the tree of widsdom reminds so much of Pocahontas disney movie: there's a similar tree in the movie  :lol:But yes, these sets are not bad per se but the target is clearly different from the older ones...I mean, these sets really look like they are just for child, while the older ones - having a more realistic feeling - could be used to really set up more realistic dioramas. That said, when I was a child I liked playmobil because it looked very realistic and not so childish.

When I first saw the leaks of them, I was horrified. This is the furthest Playmobil has ever gotten from their iconic look. At least Novelmore, Dino Rise, and Wiltopia are more or less the same just with "shiny" pupils. Meanwhile, these freaks resemble a different brand entirely. Were it not for some familiar parts, I'd never guess in a million years they were Playmobil.

At the very least, they'd be part of some bizarre collab. At least the sets are cool, the major ones having gimmicks and lights. Easily high-jacking them for the fairies I do like.

As for the main purpose of this thread, I'd like more civilian figures and items for the pirates and knights line. Also, a better fleshed out "Halloween/Monster" theme. Scooby-Doo is good, but I'd like to see base Playmobil give it a whirl. What if there was a creepy mansion that had more sophisticated traps than the Scooby-Doo one? I sketched some ideas a while back. Oh! Or what if there was a system where there's whole rooms sold separately but could be combined in any way you want to build your own "house". Nothing super complex, just roomboxes basically; and each one had a gimmick towards a different monster. Like a library for Dr. Frankenstein or a music room for a vampire, etc. Maybe the werewolf could have an outdoor set?

A modular room theme like that could be stacked to make a dollhouse or placed flat to make a gaming table. Characters could move from room to room and interact with each feature of the room while trying to complete a task.
At the very least you could use the modules to make 3d versions of games like Cluedo/Kill Doctor Lucky.

YES!!! It sure could be an excellent game idea! Didn't even think of that! I always had this idea of modular roomboxes but with traditional dollhouse miniatures ever since my mom brought them up. She was big into those back then. But now I see potential with Playmobil, but only with the red and yellow bits system or the glorious Steck. I loathe the idea of the current snapping tabs system that makes me scared to handle the darn buildings.  >:(

My first thought was that it was a mould issue, since it's been so long since it has appeared, but I have no idea about the economics of re-making a mould.

Questions like that were asked about the old medieval/village hats when the PCC was around. There was no response and it was assumed the moulds were all lost/broken. In the last couple of years all these hats have appeared including the helmet that the old Nuremburg guards wore. They've appeared in advent calendars, Spirit franchise sets, Novelmore.
If they can bring out old stuff like that and recently they've re-issued the western gavel and bell from the school set, then it's certainly possibly for that pleated bonnet to be remade.
It's a nice piece, it is finely made and a good size. It would be great to see it on a newer figure with more realistic clothing.

At the factory tour in 2014 they said that the oldest molds don't work with the newer molding machines. So there may be a cut off in how far back in time the rereleases can come from. There may be engineering workarounds possible though, so who knows. They are certainly motivated these days to reuse existing molds whenever possible. There have been a few really creative uses lately.

Yes, I also would imagine the price of creating molds have come down considerably also since then .  Just look at how eager Geobra is to make new unique sets only to run them in production for a year or so

In the last few years they've rereleased most steck parts. The obvious ones missing are the staging pieces used in 7400. Others are the castle gates and castle wall piece with bay window.

What I'd like to see are window and door frames in grey to match the castle walls.

There is an official 4-way connector with smooth surface that came in brown and a limited release version in grey. There is at least one website which sells 3d printed ones which match the texture of castle walls.
Something I want to try one day is cutting the corner off two corner connectors and gluing them together. The measuring and cutting would have to be very good to get them to work as a 4-way.

Thanks, can’t believe I missed that. I’ve added it to my random part list for a big order (keep doing small ones and the packaging costs are adding up).

Frustratingly a 1x2 floor piece - 30039810 is unavailable, which would be ideal in my custom Steck double house to correct an odd floor, which the 4-way would resolve:

(https://i.ibb.co/rpJtS1H/IMG-8567.jpg) (https://ibb.co/rpJtS1H)

Essentially want to replace the 2 1x2 pieces (currently 2x 30028470 and a joist) highlighted in orange with a 2x2 floor piece (30039800).
Then replace the 2x 1 floor pieces highlighted in yellow with the unavailable 1x2 floor piece (30039810). That would allow where the purple arrow points to still hang a prison sign. The prison then becomes 2 “squares” deep instead of 1. Once replace wall and corner pieces to create a thin prison room. That’s essentially a gap between two houses that sit on the first floor. The 4-way piece can go where the brown circle is. That’s quite hidden from view so would work nicely.

This is the custom house:

(https://i.ibb.co/DrYKsbz/IMG-7611.jpg) (https://ibb.co/DrYKsbz)

I’ll keep hunting eBay for that 30039810 part!

Nothing very rock n roll, but I’d like to see:

 • not so much a piece but maybe a Kinetic sand collaboration with pirates digging up treasure

I think with sand that actual sand would be better for digging treasure up. Have a solid sand base as you mention but place it on a sand area or perhaps have another sand base which is a frame with actual sand in the middle. The frame could have a detachable floor so you could fill it up with sand for use indoors and keep the mess down or take the floor out and use the frame at the beach and dig as deep as you like.

Looking at your list of possible steck parts reminds me that the pirate prison came with a couple of nice pieces - door with hole in it for passing things through, a whole wall of bars and a brown coloured cap that covered the top of wall sections.
This thing: https://playmodb.org/cgi-bin/showpart.pl?partnum=30-09-5310

The waves for the ship would actually make a nice regular piece to clip to the bottom of the hull.

Backdrops. The Advent calendars tend to have cardboard scenery, it would be nice in larger sets to have a cardboard sheet the size of the box or even folded in half to be bigger to have a backdrop. This could be a modern town, an old village (with or without figures so it can be multi-time period) or just countryside.

Also a themed play-mat that figures and buildings could be placed on. This could be sold separately and represent a town with roads, paved streets for historic town, or appropriate art for licences like Asterix giving a proper comic book ground for displays to stand on.

Animal related, of course XD
Long haired cats! I would love to see a more fluffier cat, side head fluff and a long fluff tail. Different colors.
Or cats sets like they did withe the dog breeds, breeds could be: Siamese, Persian, other long haired cat breed like the Norwegian, Russian blue.
