Title: Could not resist today...
Post by: Wolf Knight on June 03, 2010, 19:53:57
I've been fighting the urge to buy this set.... But since  I like mythical monsters... well here it is....the 4805 Three - Headed Sea Serpent (and the pirate that goes with it....)

(http://img37.imagefra.me/img/img37/6/6/3/baldthar/f_grpn4kdum_8e20d3a.jpg) (http://imagefra.me/)

I wanted to take a closer shot but thebeast was poking my camera lens a lot...thus the blurry photo...

(http://img37.imagefra.me/img/img37/6/6/3/baldthar/f_grpn4kdvm_c6c2c5c.jpg) (http://imagefra.me/)

Nevertheless, you can still see the longer ear flaps of the center head...it makes it look like its the leader...
Nice detail...i like it....

(http://img38.imagefra.me/img/img38/6/6/3/baldthar/f_grpn4kdwm_3da86bb.jpg) (http://imagefra.me/)

And since i think there is not much to say about it, picture does tell the whole story really, our three headed friend decided to take off.... probably to discover the world, since it was closed in that box for a while...

One comment though... I do not think that the ghost pirate is happy sitting behind the neck...another misdirected print of the box...the neck is so tall and the klicky so short and I am sure that he cannot see a thing behind that neck...definately the beast is riding the pirate...

I think I have had this in my hands 4 times already. Now I am sure I won't be able to resist the urge any longer!

Great pictures :-)

Good photos wolf Knight - I must show Junior, it's his kind of thing!
Looking at the lighter coloured pieces - are they glow in the dark?

I always thought this set looked scary and it looks even more scary now! :0

It looks huge! :o  - have you got a measurement of it's length, please, Panos?

from head to tip of tail is exactly 40 cm, ie 16 inches.... the head, from the desk, stands tall at 15 cm, ie about 6 inches...

It might have been scarier if it had more details... scales, leather, etc etc...

Just opened the tape measure, and my goodness, that is big for just one Klickie - it must look most impressive! 8-)

Thanks Panos! :)9

Just a thought...
How mobile are the heads?
And do the necks move much???

Yes it is quite amazing how many questions one can think of when seeing pictures with so few details.... Thanks for all the questions!!!

I saw this set on sale some weeks ago and resisted to buy it. It really gives a nice monster, though.  ::)

Thanks for the nice review, Wolf Knight. I also would be interested in moving head pictures... How many degrees of freedom do we have, where must the hero approach to fight the beast?  :D

One comment though... I do not think that the ghost pirate is happy sitting behind the neck...another misdirected print of the box...the neck is so tall and the klicky so short and I am sure that he cannot see a thing behind that neck...definately the beast is riding the pirate...

Hmm, they do see with magic. because they are dead they can walk through walls, and I do not think someone would walk through walls without being able to see through walls. Thus, I expect they (the ghost pirates) can also see through the neck of a monster...  :yup:

best,
socrates

Ok so here are the photos I promised you guys...

There are two articulation points on each head/neck...one at the base of each neck and one at the base of each head...The can all turn 360 degrees...but the shape of the neck limits the head movement...

Another 100! :o
And here I was debating on buying just 24! (20 Soldiers, 4 cavalry)
Making them the largest faction on the field.
(They are the largest now, but only by just. I want their power to be absolute! >:D )

But instead decided on Romans...
Oh well, I will get them later. ;D

For me it's not a competition, just a confirmation that WK's review was what triggered my finally being it. The set reviews done here is really something Playmobil should think about because it is a great marketing tool. For instance flatcats recent review of the sweeper/asphalt cutter was what triggered others into buying them as they got to see the possibilities from the review!

So keep the reviews coming people, it will guide us better in where to spend :-)
