Hi Pingo!
Here is a link to an old PF discussion about the spinning wheel: thread from May 2006 (http://www.playmofriends.com/forum/index.php?topic=731.msg9726;topicseen#msg9726)
That is the first reference to the spinning wheel that I could find. Robbie mentioned that he thought the spinning wheel appeared in the old farm set 3556 but I think he mistook the knife sharpener/grindstone for the spinning wheel. Playmodb only shows the spinning wheel as part of the 7855 Knight's Market Stand though it just feels like it must have appeared in some other old set/s. In any case, it is a really great item! 8-)

If I remember correctly there has been a awefull of fuss about the spinning wheel as it would have been the first time ever a completely new item would have been available through DS only. As far as I know, noone has been able to find it in any other set.
I ordered the parts through the DS and I must admit ...
it's great !!!

This looks a very good set indeed - I may just have to order one :D

I wish you all would stop tempting me ;)! I'm not even a knight theme collector, & now even I want this set !

Hi Pingo
This is a great little Add-On set. I pick up as many as i could afford because I did not collect when the older version was available. It is a great looking market set and very useful for not only medieval sets but for any scene. I keep wondering when they are going to discontinue it, it has been out for years now and I guess we better stock up on it while we can. There is a Christmas market 4891 (http://www.playmofriends.com/forum/index.php?topic=3898.0) that is coming out and it will be interesting to see if they use the market stall as a base. I do not remember the price but that should give it away.

This certainly is a great set, :hmm: A few of these would go well with my new medieval collection.

One would think that since this is a DS item, it's pieces parts would be available individually. I have tried to order the canopy 3 times now through US DS to no avail! >:( Anyone know if it's available through European DS?

Hi
as far as I know you can order the parts from the Euro DS. I got some last year without any trouble including the spinning wheel as an extra. I think they're still on for sale on the website so you should still be able to get the parts.

Okay. I must interject here. Why is everyone except for Indianna calling it a spinning wheel as if it was used to make thread? I look at it in the context of the set and see a grinding wheel used to sharpen swords and axes. While it is true that a grinding wheel spins, a spinning wheel is used for making thread or yarn, not for sharpening weapons.

Both are in this set. On the left of the picture there is the spinning wheel, on the right back there is a grinding wheel.

Hi KM
Like Tim mentioned there are two different items in that set.

The spinning wheel that is now also in white that Mac Gayver showed

Ah! Thanks for pointing it out! My mistake! I didn't see the spinning wheel. :-[ My eyes were drawn to the part of the picture where the weapons were. Sorry. It's a guy thing... ;D

Oops....... I had to buy one too

I see in the 2010 DS catalogue for the UK there is a set 7455, fish stall, which would go well with that theme.

Hi Pingo
What the heck¿ £ 25.69 = $41.46 :o
Playmobil USA has it listed @ $10.99 + $5.25 s/h but if you order 14 of them it is free s/h ;)
The market table is what I really am looking forward to. I have been using the pier with log legs and it just does not look right

I'll be adding a few of those Fishmonger sets to my next order, and using one for bakery and another for a butcher. The table & baskets work well for a medieval market stall, but I'll have a few spare cash registers and scales.

Which seems really stupid since the "Special" sets come ten to a carton (as do many other sets). So, what you get is an open carton of Specials that's had the tenth set removed ... ::)
