I agree with the touch and feel method. I takes time but if you have been collecting PM for a while, you should know the parts. Another thing you can do is look at the pictures on the display and feel for the parts that way. You can identify accessories pretty easy. I will admit, the figs with small amounts of accessories can be harder to identify. Patience my friends. Patience.

That's right, it just takes patience. If you spend enough time feeling the bag, you will come up with something you can identify. You just have to be willing to spend the time standing there doing it.

I have a digital kitchen scale. I could weight each figure and post that info .... but is someone gonna go with a scale to a toy store?  8}

The only truly foolproof method is to break the bag open and look inside. The guys at the shop look at you funny if you do that though.

I wonder if there is some micro camera attachment you could get so you would just have to put a little pinhole in the bag to look inside? You'd probably need a little teeny light too though.

You guys are funny. :lol: If you spend long enough sensing the parts, it's basically foolproof too. And like others said, you can always use the codes in the same case to help on your search if buying multiples of the same figure. Just make sure to feel-check always! ;)

It sounds like the "feel" method is the most reliable for now.  I used to think that really accurate weights would be a good way to tell what's in each packet but people are reporting so many extra and/or missing parts that the weight method seems doomed.

If anybody is motivated to keep a list of the packet code and contents for the bags they open, let me know and I will start a list.  Ultimately, it may not tell us anything (as cardensb said, several packets of the same figure had different codes) but if we have enough data we may be able to "break" the code (if there is one  8}. )

Thanks to everybody for all the great comments on this topic!   :hatoff:

Lol, those spectacles from the 1st link! I can't imagine myself walking in a shop wearing those  :lol: :lol:
The 2nd option seems a bit more technically advanced, and safer for the eye... :sherlock:
