Post by: tonguello on November 24, 2015, 14:39:47
Hi everyone   It is time for the new photocontest  ;D

This Photocontest theme is: Christmas / Winter time

Have a look at the rules that apply:

1) You may submit up to 2 photos.

2) You may start submitting your photos in this topic today and up until Tuesday 12th of January 2016 (= 7 weeks from now).
Voting will take place from January 12th 2016 until January 19th 2016.

3) Photoshop and filters are allowed.
Please take a moment to review all the rules: http://www.playmofriends.com/forum/index.php?topic=12037.0

4) Keep in mind: the photo must be originally used for the contest. Do not use an image that you have already used somewhere on the forum, and wait until the contest is finished before posting the image on the forum elsewhere.

5) Of course, there's a prize for the winner. You can pick from the list here: http://www.playmofriends.com/forum/index.php?topic=14268.0

Greta entry Raven love the fact that you've really made it look like a proper nativity with all home made costumes and the teacher and indeed the sheep on wheels, I remember being given the part of the very well known long red haired cow in one of our nativity plays  :hmm:.

Ok so my first entry from last year don't think I uploaded it on here but, feel free to correct me if I'm wrong, keeping it simple Santa In The Snow

(http://i1103.photobucket.com/albums/g462/DoctorDalek6/Santa%2027.12.2014_zpsrikyu6l2.jpg) (http://s1103.photobucket.com/user/DoctorDalek6/media/Santa%2027.12.2014_zpsrikyu6l2.jpg.html)

I've got a good idea of some other photos I could use for a 2nd entry but, will wait and see what opportunities December brings first

Playmobil in real snow looks great!

Yes it does!

I remember doing some pics when the... what's the name? a freezer? Like a large refrigerator, but not the cold part, just the freeze one.. Anyways, when it needed to be "defrosted", I did some nice pics inside in the ice..

Thanks guys the other one I'm thinking of using is also a snow photo from at least the year before this one, it occurred to me as I was going to bed that I had these photos I took of Santa which would be good so I should look through them and decide on a good one (I seemed to remember I din't upload them because the snow came just after Christmas) actually I've got at least 2 good snow photos because I've got on of my BTCV and Police guys making a mini snowman with real snow that was an interesting task. Trouble is you can never rely on snow coming when you want it for good photos so you've got to be on constant alert and learning from experience balance klickies on top layer of snow otherwise they can sink out of sight in deep snow unless you want a visual indicator of how deep the snow is for klickies! or clearing snow (I took one of Santa sunk in ready to clear the snow)  :flake:)  :snowman:

Love the Christmas Pagent Raven!  And DrDalek, I love the effect of the real snow... it hasn't snowed here yet this year, so it's not really feeling much like Christmas.

Brilliant photo I love it trying to melt the ice with the chisels and very tiny looking hairdryer. Particularly Santa's almost resigned patient expression and the Elf pushing the wheelbarrows fed up face. The ice in the wheelbarrow is great.

Freezing Santa' surely not that unusual, I froze a spider in the freezer at the Botanical Gardens where I volunteer presumably to use in a practical joke and then forgot about it, so when I found it looking for something else I thought it was some sort of frozen meals like a scotch egg or something else round and then I could see part oft he legs so that gave it away  >:D. One of the other volunteer s also dug a grave/bed for a TOMY man we found who must have been subsequently binned by our supervisor  :'(

I would have commented on Raven's photo before know but, I thought, I'd already posted a comment love the home made look of it just like a real nativity play so many great little details  :)

We call that a deep freezer here, or a broken fridge.
I'd love some snow right now, it was 26°C today and I was out in the sun for most of the day.

Great photos guys.

Well it's looking like we probably won't be getting any more snow for a while so was looking through my photos to decide on a 2nd photo to upload was a choice between this one and one of the see through cyborg from the mystery series, the best one had a washing line in the background not that it's really that much of a sore point I don't think. Anyway thought this was a nice photo

I was able to create the scene I had in mind (with a bit of ingenuity to make up for a missing part).  I added the house in the background at the last minute, and I really think it made the scene complete.

I might play around with some other stuff tomorrow and create a second entry... But please enjoy this one.

That is so wonderful with all the lights and tinsel and wreaths ... and all the elves.  And yes, the house in the background too is perfect, giving the scene depth and atmosphere.

It's a lovely photo.

Yes, that's what I used to create the tinsel on the posts. I bought a pack at a local craft store for just 97 cents (US) it was just a green pack since that was all that I needed, but you can get many other colors.

The present bag was made using an old jewelry pouch, with a piece of craft string around it. It really was a fun undertaking to make this.

I'm adding one extra week to submit photos before we start voting for Photocontest #6.

I'm working on something but I haven't had the time to finish it, and also it would be great if on top of that we had one more entrance to get to the required six entries minimum  :prays:

So the new deadline is Tuesday 19th of January  :yup:

Breaktime

Amazingly the "steam" from the little elf on the left's cup at least stayed close to his cup... I spent more time fixing that then I did creating the rest of the scene.

Thanks Birdie and Tahra! I was anxious to try it out. I put a cell phone in the hand of the little green elf in the right front at the last minute, I thought it was a neat little touch too. This one was a fun and quick little scene to make (once I put the lights on the truck and finished fixing the steam).

I agree that the Stevia made for wonderful snow. Does it stick to the parts? That was my fear about using sugar.

Post by: Birdie on January 15, 2016, 12:28:45
It might, so I'm going to put them in a bit of tapid water once I get around to clearing it all away.
It's not all sugar, by the way. There's an old white fleece blanket underneath (you know the ones you can get at IKEA).
