Title: Hello from Down Under!
Post by: SuziQu on January 23, 2008, 14:53:39
Thought I'd bite the bullet and join a forum/group, only hope it does not encourage me to buy too much more PM.  I have years of work ahead to sort all mine into sets!  My Victorian is completed now, have even finished add on customised sets and buildings. Most of the Modern House and Shops are done (the sets I let children play with, so always re sorting).  I am starting a large Summer Holiday scene next, have campervans and tents, several 'A' frame houses and house boats, will add some log cabins and watercraft, almost looking forward to it, only problem/concern is finding time to get fully involved, worried I will become overly obsessed!!  Great saying hi to you all, SQ.

Welcome from the UK.     Getting overly obsessed is par for the course with PM.  Looking forward to seeing your Victorian and City Life setups and the holiday scene when it's finished (or why not show us it as it is being built?)

Hi SuziQu,

and welcome to our little spot of the net.
I second Playmofire - we would love to see pics of your collection!

... only hope it does not encourage me to buy too much more PM.  ...

Don't bet on it  ;D

Hi SuziQu,

 Welcome to Playmofriends.

Your holiday scene sounds like it's going to be a rather large setup.

Garry.

Hi Suzi!

Welcome to PlaymoFriends! It's wonderful to meet you. :)

I guess you rely on eBay for most of your Playmobil purchases, or are you lucky enough to have a stockist near where you live? We usually hear that Oz is a bit of a desert where Playmo is concerned. :(
(I'm originally from Tassie. I wasn't really aware of Playmobil until I came to live in the UK, 15 years ago.)

Have fun collecting and being a part of our fan community! :*)

Most of us keep children away from our Playmobil to avoid this problem! They can buy their own when they are earning, meantime we're trying to buy up all the stocks so they don't see it in the shops.

Welcome Suzi!

Martin you are tooooo funny! Believe me that's why I bought the modern houses, not really into it, besides I 'ripped off' anything that would assist the Vic Village!  We have a very nice little cheese board and platter of cheeses on the 'patio', lots of ice-creams for the children and the list goes on, bread, cakes, meat and so forth, figure the kids would be thrilled with the house sets and if I hid the boxes what would they know?  (also took all their blue flowers!!!!!!!)  Besides the're stray kids, mine have the works!
My picture will not add as an attachment so will investigate an album later, cheers SQ

Hi Suzi :)

If you click here it should take you to a page in your profile section called "Look and Layout Preferences"

http://www.playmofriends.com/forum/index.php?action=profile;u=379;sa=theme
(http://www.playmofriends.com/forum/index.php?action=profile;u=379;sa=theme)

Click the box next to "Return to topics after posting by default." Then click the "Change profile" button at the bottom of that page. This will ensure you always return to the topic you last posted in and will be able to see how your reply looks before moving on.

I find this setting very useful, so maybe you will too. :)

Do you have any software which will allow you to resize the pictures? I think this is included with most digital cameras these days, or you can probably download some free photo editing software. I use Paint Shop Pro. Photoshop is another popular one, but there are loads of other programs you can try if you don't have these.

That's because it contains Suzi's specific member number in the link. I thought it would be faster than directing her through several different buttons. ;D

If anyone else wants to use that link to reach that part of their profile, they will need to take out "379" and substitute their own member number. In my case, it would be "1" because I was the first person registered at PF.

You can all find out your own member number by putting the mouse over your board id name and looking at the info displayed in the bottom left of the browser window. Or you can go to your profile summary page and look at the number in the top address bar. Look for "u=" at the end of the URL. The number which follows is your own unique member number. :)

Welcome from Oregon USA, almost exactly opposite Australia on the globe.
The problem isn't so much being encouraged to get more Playmo, it's seeing all the cool stuff other people do and wanting to do that too...

Thanks Sylvia, Richard and Tim, will have a go at sorting the photos soon, need to work at lot this week, (now I've seen the new Church and Marquee!)  Pitty the Church does not have the same base as the gazebo, never mind, it is sooooo cute!  Playmobil have copied my wedding cake!!!!!!!  I used the 'teeny-weeny' little bride and groom from the 'micro fairy tale' set for the top of my Victorian wedding cake!  I have a gazebo, was not happy with the PM colour so made my own, it has 2 patios, one each side.  The new grand piano will look super inside, I have been using the up right when the 'Royal Galas' are in full swing!  I so want a 'blue church', so expensive and the base is a little flat to suit the Victorian scenes, however can always cut and paste a Vic base.  ;)
