I SCORED A SCOTSMAN
« on: May 05, 2014, 05:20:35 »
Finnegan's Toys & Games in downtown PDX has series 6 and I felt out a Scotsman about five bags in! It was the cloak that did it, with confirmation from the ridges on the shoulder detail. $3! :)

Unfortunately I couldn't get certainty on a Chinese lady, which is the only other figure from this series I really want. (My Chinese warlord from the last series needs a girlfriend.) I just bit the ebay bullet for one a minute ago. So it goes!

NB the Scotsman's cloak is NOT the same as the Roman toga. It's differently molded, is rigid, and is not split, so I had to put it on during figure assembly and don't foresee easy swapping out.

But all in all I am pretty happy. I wonder what thought process led geobra to go with a Braveheart type instead of the more usual kilted-and-sporraned 19th century type?

In a PM world that is increasingly "X-TREEM" (Asian Dragon theme, I'm looking right at you), the subdued historical realism of this Scotsman is a blast of refreshing air. Oh may the powers that be enable another historically accurate theme along the lines of Egypt, Rome and Vikings...

Congrats on getting one!!  :lol:

I *finally* found a store that got its stock - but boys only, the girls are on backorder.  The box was pretty full, there couldn't have been many already sold, but after feeling *every* bag, nope, no scotsman for me.

And I accidently didn't get the lifeguard guy. I know I felt his board, but I put that one back by mistake and somehow ended up with two Arabian Princes!

after spending almost an hour and a half at the Funpark store in April, with 4 persons and only finding one  ::) 8}
i went to our local Bart Smit at Koningsdag, within 10m i got 4 of them  8} 8} 8} :love: :love: :love:

Just to put it in perspective: The four bins at the Funpark store were completely filled, and i think had 100's and 100's of bags.
The Bart Smit had only 40 or 50 bags of F6-Boys ....  :hmm:

Congrats the Scotsman is indeed a great figure and not your stereotypical image of a Scot either, I managed to sccore all the ones I wanted apart for the Lifeguard who I could probably have felt out if I tried hard enough but, I felt I'd already spent a fair bit of money so I decided to try another day the others I wanted to get before all the kids cleaned Toysrus out of them sinc they didn't seem to restock the last series

Congratulations on your scottish finds!

Same here.  The only place I have to get them is Toys R Us... and they only have Series 2 on the shelf :(
I'm glad that I'm not the only one :)
