State Fair Diorama
« on: December 14, 2014, 18:29:12 »
This is a project I've been wanting to do for a long time, since even before we first saw pictures of the fair theme. Most of this has been set up since late August, waiting to add the last couple of rides to it. But here it is, finally! There are a lot of custom carnival games in here, as well as livestock areas and such. I have also set up lighting for it, and tonight after dark I plan to light it all up and take video of how it looks at night. But I couldn't wait to post the pictures, so here they are!

Ticket booth

Pony rides, with  height limit, of course

Show horses with their handlers

Feed for the livestock

Mutton Bustin' kids rodeo. (I know, I don't approve of this either, but they do it at the fair here every year.)

Poor sheep

Judging the jellies

Winners of the pickle contest.

Artist painting a couple's portrait.

Concert

Closer view of the country/rocker wannabe local band

Healthier concessions

Candy!

Pizza and hot dogs and ice cream, oh my!

Grandma found her inner child.

Grandpa didn't.

The price of a balloon at the fair?

Creepy clown on stilts selling wooden roses.

Kiddie swings

Galaxy ride

Ferris wheels

Some close-ups

Boat swings

Strength tester

Prizes. And creepy guy.

Basketball game

floating cups game

And another creepy guy. Why are the people running these games always so creepy?

Duck shooter game

I didn't notice until i looked at the pics that his aim is way off.

Balloon-dart game

We got conned out of $25 at this one this year.

Dunking booth!

High swings

The best I could do for a tall slide.

Another kiddie ride

The train

And some final overview shots.

And that's it for now. I'll add the video tonight hopefully.

That's a great diorama, BB.  Looking forward to the video.

Nice fair :)

Great creativity for the rides - and you did capture the weirdness of the booth people!

Ah, and what a nice variety of klickys   (saw the vsk kid on the swing :) )

And grandma finding her inner child!  ;D

I didn't like the savages with the sheep (well done though), and the animals as prizes look.. creepy - maybe because we KNOW they're supposed to be animals? Wait. They're all plastic... Uhm.

Wow it looks beautifull! so many details! I love how you displayed the prizes next to the basketball game and other games, the dunking book is brilliant too!
You really captured the setting very well!

Happy grandma is great too!

Great diorama Bonnie! Love the games, some clever custom work there. The pizza cart is a great one too! Maybe Mrs Santa's pizza parlor will expand with a cart for summer time sales. Hmmm it's a thought.

Thanks so much everyone. I've really had fun with this one. Well-spotted on the special klicky, Tahra.

Anyway, here is the video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3XkVU8F7shA&feature=youtu.be

I also took a few still shots with the lights on. I don't have the skill to make them look great, but here they are:

Great diorama.   The carnies were my favorite too, but you had  just a lot of creativity all over there.

well done.
