we were talking about this when i registered to the site the 3055 ,3740 ship
http://www.collectobil.com/images/items/3055.jpg i was asking if there are any differences between the two numbers they said that it is the same set made in germany and the same quality only the 3055 code was for the us and 3740 the world. i bought the 3055 from ebay new in the box it is arrived today .the boat instead of white is grey :( :( :( :( ? i had 3740 bought it at that time as a child and the boat was as it is shown white is there any explanations for it?

The Plastic may have degenerated with time, or it may just be dirty. First give iot a good wash with warm soapy water, then check the How-to section for tips on how to restore your ship's hull to pristine whiteness.

thank you martin   it canot be dirty because it had the plastick wrapping protekting the box and the whole was in perfect condition. i'll try to wash it tommorow , although the one i had as a kid still have it in great condition it is 15 years old and it is white a slite brown from time. but not this grey also the whole boat is grey not in parts

Hi Playmo1989,
Both sets 3055 and 3740 are almost the same, both where made in Germany but the cannons where different.
To comply with safety regs in the USA, the cannons had to be non firing so sets bound for the USA had a different set number.
I have just gone to check my MISB 3740 and it was made in Spain it's not a brilliant white but an off white more to the grey side.
Perhaps, if others had been made in Germany there could be a slight difference in colour between the 2 factory's?

thank you sir gareth i know that, we had a conversation about it when i registrered to the site the theme now is with the different color of the boat i bought!!!! :( ???
-
a!!! sorry sir gareth i saw the half of your message your 3740 was made in spain?? :hmm: this is a little strange it shows more grey or white??
-
I have the 3740 edition...unfortunately i have it at my parents' house and not sure about it being totally white...i think it has a slight grayish color...then again i am not completely sure...I'll take a picture tomorrow...
-
i would like to see your 3740 pano where was it made?
-
Since i bought it in the UK i believe that it was made in germany...the box was lost in the flood so i cannot say with certainty...i cannot recall if the cannons shoot though...i'll see to it tomorrow and take a few pictures....hang in there alexi...until then ;)

ok thanks !

I've taken some photos of my 3740, I bought it new sealed so it's never been built or exposed to strong sunlight . I would say that this is about the 4th time that I have lifted the lid on the box.
You can get a good idea of how grey it looks against the poly float in the hull of the boat, it doesn't look that grey when the top deck is in place but it does look grey in the box against the blue.
-
yes mine it's more grey than this but you have it on the sunlight pictured i saw it in the house . made in spain toys are not of very good quality on the begining of the ninties i have bought some victorian and 3791 of that pirate series and they were of very bad quality, if i'am wrong for that correct me thank you for sharing the pictures :)
-
Here are a few pictures of my 3740. If you look at it n real time you will notice a slight grey color. You can also see that in most of the pictures... but in a closer look...it must be white...
-
here is a close one to the hull... it looks whiter....at least to me...
Also in comparisor to the 3174 red piratehip...
-
it is grey it might be from the factory some to be more grey and the others more white the one i bought now is grey tough you are not saying it is a little white it is a little grey! your is in great color condition is it the one you had as a child?
-
thank you for your pictures!!!!! :)
-
is it the one you had as a child?
yes it is. only the aft sail is from another 3740 ship i bought from ebay for spare parts some months ago.
-
hello playmo1989,
i also have a 3740 and the hull is white. :hmm:
maybe a good way to define this "white" - as opposed to "grey" - is to say that the hull color should be brighter than the "not blue" areas of the sails. ::)
i hope i could be of some help. :)

i have two of these ships one i had as a child witch is "white"and one that i bought today that is grey :-\
