Hello!
I'm not exactly sure what I'm supposed to be put in here. Many years ago, when it was a thing, I was on Playmoboard, so maybe you saw me there.
I've literally always had Playmobil, and inherited it from my siblings. It was always my favourite toy.
Officially I only collect Victorian, Medieval and Western. And the odd pirate set. And those jungle sets that looked like Indiana Jones. Oh, and some Roman and Egyptian stuff. And obviously all the Viking stuff (I mean, that's basically Medieval anyway). But sadly most of it is sitting in boxes in my parent's attic.
Don't let that make you think I don't like the modern stuff. I think lots of the modern stuff is amazing, but you really have to draw the line somewhere, and that was the easiest place. It does mean there's the odd random set that's slipped through the net though :-[
I'm planning on embarking on some customisation, though I've never done it before.
I think that's it.

Hello. Oliver. I thought the name was familiar.
-
Welcome to our little corner of the world Oliver!
-
Cheers, Oliver!
Welcome to the forum! I used to live in London, on Tresillian Road in SE4 1YG. I always hope to make it back for another long stay or visit.
I was there when Thatcher was PM - I imagine things are a bit different now!

Welcome.
"Where do you draw the line?" would make an interesting thread.

Welcome from Oregon!

Welcome from Portugal!
I used to be on playmoboard too.. ages and ages ago..
Looking forward to seeing pics ;D
(...) but you really have to draw the line somewhere (...)
I wish I had learned how to do that... unfortunately, I never did. ::)

Hello Oliver, Welcome from Southern Scotland.
I was also a member of playmoboard.
-
Thanks everyone!
Where in Southern Scotland? My parents live in Dumfries.
-
Just along the coast, about 16 miles from Dumfries!
With the help of two other collectors from PlaymoFriends (Playmofire and Walt's-trains) I put on a Playmobil Festival with large Playmobil dioramas at the village hall in Kirkbean every July.

Hello from Norwich, Norfolk!

Welcome from Gloucestershire!

What can one say?

I don't know, May looks a bit like Thatcher.

I don't know, May looks a bit like Thatcher.
Yes and speaks with forked tongue. Pretty well everything she said in her campaign to be leader contradicted things she had said before. I've dubbed her "an Eton boy in drag".

Hello from St. Louis, Missouri

Looks like, talks like, patronizes like... my word she IS.... a politician!

Hi Oliver, welcome to the forum :) I'm from Antwerp in Belgium. I love all the themes you mentioned, sadly I don't draw the line just at those ;D
I'm curious about your customs.
-
Welcome from Canada!
I was on playmoboard back in the day too, before winding up here. It's a great community!
-
Welcome from the Netherlands.

Greetings from Iowa City, Iowa :) can't wait to hear about your progress embarking on customization.
-
Thanks guys!
Don't get too excited about the customisations, I feel it will be a slow process for me!
-
And another (belated) welcome from Germany, Oliver!

This is known as "playmocrastination". I do it a lot, having been promising a big effortpost on my legion for oh around four years now.
-
Sorry Oliver for hijacking your thread. But Macruran, are you actually trying to raise a Roman legion?! That's like 5,000 men!! I once dreamt about something like this too, but then decided (because of time, space and money needed) to scale down to a single cohort. It's still not finished yet, at the moment I have only about 200 soldiers in arms and no baggage train.
-
I'm not doing a 6000 man legion, no, it's much scaled down. I field about 100 figures at the moment, maybe more, though that's expandable with all the 7878s I have in reserve.
My big post will explain it all. Joking aside, I hope to have it finished before Christmas.

"only about 200" :o :o
-
@ Oliver: Yes, that's a lot of soldiers already, but my full cohort shall be comprised of about 600 people. So I have only about one third now.
@ Macruran: Lucky you! I was so mad when DS discontinued 7878 because you can't build an army properly with 6490. But then I saw the new 5393 set. Perfect! This will save me!

PM US still sells 7878, last year I bought about 100 sets of it, this year much less but I feel an itch. I am going to get some with the current discount. If you need 7878s I have many to spare! Let me know. I understand the need.
5393 disappoints me, they've mixed in centurion torsos and metal greave legs, it's not a proper army builder set in my view. Still, it's better than a stick in the eye.
-
Thanks, Macruran. You have a PM.

Welcome! :)
