Title: Woodland theme pictures
Post by: matchboxluc on December 24, 2005, 11:02:30
Hello,

I've made some pictures of the woodland sets I purchased. These are sets 4203, 4204 and 4205:

Wow! You have gone to a lot of trouble to show us the contents of the sets. Thanks so much! :yup:

I hadn't paid much attention to the bird house with it's table and hanging feeder before. I really like that!

And the back of the cabin is rather nice even though it's a little smaller than I hoped it would be. This would be a great item for kids because it's so open and easy to get into. 8-)

Thanks for the pics, Jean-Luc.  The jeep/G-Wagen/Land Rover and trailer looks interesting.

Thanks for all the pics MBL! I think you may have actually piqued my husband's interest, which is quite something as he is generally pretty dismissive of my playmobil habit!

BT, what is that yellow patch of growing something in the badger set?

That is a colony of touchwood (with room underneath for a hedgehog).

I already was very interested in these sets but now they are "must haves"! Thanks for the excellent photos, so much to love.  The ax in the tree stump, all the birds, the treehouse tree with different shades of leaves, the bagers and racoons....I'm in love!  :*)

Now can I ask, what is touchwood? :-[

Those are toadstools or fungi.

"touchwood" reminded me of Catweazle (it's what he called his pet toad)

Ah thanks MBL! I could have looked it up I suppose but it's nicer hearing the meaning from one who uses the language. :)

Are you sure? (Not the meaning of touchwood, but with the meaning of the orange item istelf.) I assumed that this should represent a pile of old leaves (under which normally hedgehogs can be found.

I hadn't considered it could be leaves. I thought of it as a type of plant when I first saw it, but that is mainly because it looks the same (or extremely similar) to the fungi piece which grows out of the tree stump in 3933 (http://www.collectobil.com/catalogue/items/3933.htm).

Thanks, Jean Luc ...

I would never have bought this set BEFORE seeing your wonderful fotos! Playmobil should hire you in their sales and promotion department!  ... ;)

I will definitely buy this set now thanks to you! ... :)

And the back of the cabin is rather nice even though it's a little smaller than I hoped it would be.

Well, Sylvia, if there's anything at all good about SystemX, it's that you might be able to expand this cabin easily with some extra pieces from Direct Service. This is definitely a "must do" (if possible) to "fatten up" this "extremely thin" cabin ... ;)

Thanks again, Jean Luc ...

Hm, I do not have the 3933 set, so I can not compare directly, although you seems to be right, that it looks quite similiar. (BTW, I think leaves are also part of a plant, so your first thought was not that wrong from my point of view  :P.)

Maybe this is again one of these multi-purpose parts like the eggs: in farm/city live sets the white "set of bubles" are representing eggs, and in the set with the bicycle-ice-cream-seller they are representing ice cream balls.

Like the giant deer, that looks like an elk, that is actually one of Santa's reindeer in a different colour ... :)

Thanks for the pix MBL!

As Richard said, I was not initially impressed, but after seeing the photos there are a couple of these I will be getting. My kids will love the badgers and raccoons, and Captain Henry's Modern Pirates (tm) MUST have one or more of the Jeeps from 4206. ;) :arrr:

Richard the deer antlers are definitely different. The body and head do look like the reindeer though. Will have to get them next to each other to see for certain.

A very good and kind friend sent me the 4204 set for my birthday and the badgers are indeed wondeful! Still, even though I dont' think he's new, I didn't have the fox kit that is sitting up (on the tree stump in Jean Luc's photo) and he is simply adorable! I also didn't have the yellow birds...I'll have to go to collectobil to see if that's a new animal. The "gold stuff" looks like toadstools/mushrooms to me as they are too uniform in color for fallen leaves and too think and (not to over analyze) why would there be fallen leaves under pine trees?  ???

It's a fantastic set and I adore it!

The head is definitely different from the reindeer.  There is alot more "scruff" in the neck.

Thanks for the pics mbl.. I am now hoping for an add-on for the cabin.. the inside is certainly tiny.

Hello, Hoppatussa and Tiermann ...

You are both absolutely correct! (Looks like I may need some new glasses.) ... ;)

It is definitely neither the reindeer nor the moose body as the legs are positioned differently.

The antlers are certainly different.

And the head? It looks as though Playmobil may have created another entirely new animal!

But, what is it? Is it a huge male deer (a buck), or is it an elk? Or ... ???

I've made a line-up of the four types of deers that are in the set:

The small deer with antlers, looks almost like an antelope compared to the new large one.

Jean Luc, do you have a reindeer and a moose that you could photograph with the new large deer?

Thanks again for a really great foto display of these new sets!

All the best,
Richard

Thanks for the quick reply, Jean Luc ... I'll just have to wait until they come across the sea ... :)

All the best,
