Title: 5152 E-Rangers Collectobot
Post by: conniefrere on October 27, 2011, 19:35:17
Here is my personal favorite of the Future Planet theme
the E-rangers Collectobot.

First the box. Front and back side followed by the contents of the bags inside the box.
@Ace the box is small, because you have to assemble the complete robot. ;)

There are some little stickers which make the collectobot like a mechanic manmade machine.
With high voltage warning signs, do not come between the legs, "fasten your seatbelt"

The klicky has a tube linked from his helmet to some device on his belt. (Should it resemble some air regulator?)

Oke lets assemble the collectobot. I think it's one of the nice things in this set, and for some of us a lot of
custom things to do. I can imagine enormous "legions" of this set in all different colors and.. :P

First things first, beginning with the legs and the "cockpit"

The arm with the different pick up tools.

Combined together and our klicky can climb aboard. :)

Ryan, you are to fast I was planning on mentioning this fire extinguisher. When I saw this extinguisher I thought: "Hey, nice for Ryan and Bill I have to mention it." Well you beat me to it.

Is it a foam extinguisher or solid CO2? Or maybe it is some futuristic superextinguisher?

OK now some last pics for this review.

Here he is Kazuki in his cockpit. His arms are in the controllers. Funny thing is the fact that his arms move as you move the arms of the collectobot.

Ready to collect.

Collecting an energy stone and the accompanying transparent box.

I really like this set and maybe I will buy more it's 14 euros spent well.

Last thing to mention is the movement of the parts. It is possible to rotate round the "heels, knees, hips and arms" The arms can be elongated as you can see in the picture.

Thats a great looking set. I definitely want one or two. I really like that the figure isn't just another average klicky.

awesome review!
Now all you need is a Sigourney Weaver custom clicky....I see a custom powder loader exo-suit from "Alien" in the near future!  will you be making one perhaps?

Probably not, but who knows. Actually, I like the robowalker in its pristine state. 0)

I wonder if the belt to helmet line is an optical cable for an HUD? This set is sure to be a big seller in multiples, I hope they recognise that and produce extra.

Thanks for the review, Conniefrere - you beat me to it. I bought it today and it has only just been assembled. And it is indeed awesome.
Allthough I was struck by the amount of force some parts needed to get them assembled.
What I really find a pity is that the number "2" is fixed. It would be nicer if it was possible to have multiple sets with all their own number.

...I see a custom powder loader exo-suit from "Alien" in the near future!  ...

That´s funny - it made me think of the Sentinel from Warhammer 40.000:

I really want to buy another one and convert it into a sentinel like vehicle ...
couple of missile-launcher or a twin-Heavy Bolter ... mmm ...

Perhaps next month ...

PS ... come to think of it, there was also something like this in the Matrix:

It reminded me to the matrix at once.
Concerning the assembly, sometimes you did have to se some force. The end result is it works perfectly! 8-)

hmmm, exosuits are pretty common in all sci-fi genre now, but it still reminds me most of the powder loader from Alien since it has a roll cage harness, and the arms of the clicky actually move with the arms of the suit, and the hands look just like the pincer forklift grips in the movie (plus the one from Alien is probably the earliest appearence of an exosuit in non-japanese sci-fi lore.)

but pretty much, yeah, the ones in Matrix and Avatar are quite similar as well. :)

also the mechs in EXOSQUAD, look very similar.  Exosquad was a line of toys that also included some BATTLETECH designs (RPG) stolen from Japanese mecha designs.

I think it's fair to state that it is already quite universal! Matrix / Alien / Avatar / Warhammer / Playmobil
It really is a machine for the future!

wait wait and it reminds me of a game i used to play. it was called world of civilisation if im not wrong and you used to start from stonage up  to romans, knights, napolean, ww1, ww2, digital era ,nano era..... and in the digital era the soldiers used to have a suit like that. so who knows maybe goverments will start  copying pm for secret projects hmmmm hehehehehehe. but we must admit it its a cool piece of pm.
